I think Dyer was innocent in it.

Bowyer was childish because he started it because Dyer didnt pass to him a couple of times.
yeah, the manager said that dyer was on the receiving end and bowyer is guilty. it was pretty funny watching dyer dribble past bowyer during the game when he could've past :D

Brian McBride - Everton
Carlos Bocanegra - Everton
Demarcus Beasley - PSV Eindhoven
Claudio Reyna - Played for Rangers for a few.
Alexi Lalas - Played for Parma.
Josh Wolfe - Reading

I know Zack Thornton as well as others are also overseas right now. It's great that our talent's finally getting exported over to Europe. MLS can breed young players, but Europe has far better grounds to groom them. Donovan was a total washout. I think he's happy and complacent with the stardom he's got in the US, and probably can't handle Leverkusen.

well...who really gives a rats *** on this one?

they had a little scrap, so what? at least it was a proper one for once, none of this poncing around and diving about like the majority of footie players do.

the only reason it's headline news is to sell newspapers. if it wasn't for the media making such a big show about it no-one would give a f.uck. the pair of them would get a good bitch slapping from the boss and life would go one.

makes me laugh when you've got a convicted criminal in Pennant playing when he should be banned for at least a full season and the media give it minimal coverage. then a little spat like this happens and they just use it as an opportunity to line their pockets. wankers the lot of them.

Scholes' retirement has dented their chances, in my opinion.

I always thought England should play a 3-5-2, but Sven loves his full-backs.....

Shame, because we have both 3 world-class centre backs, and 3 world-class centre midfielders. We'd be almost unrivalled down the middle of the park. I think having that 3-man midfield support would really suit Rooney's style of play, too.

It also would have solved the problems on the left, but Joe Cole's sorted that now, apparently.

Britney Diva
04-04-2005, 07:01 PM
I don't know about a 3-man defence, I've never liked the way teams like that play. The midfield tends to get clustered, which is something England would do well to avoid, which players like Lampard and Gerrard(if he's feeling up to it)

As for Joe Cole, I've never rated either of the Cole brothers on the left, but I admit he's a far better player than Hargreaves. Personally, I'm stunned Sven is still in charge. He seems completely inept at everything he does.

Sven has yet to lose a qualifying match. England were knocked out from the two tournaments he's led them in by a flukey free-kick/shaky keeper combo and a poor refereeing decision. He may be unadventurous but I dont think he's done too badly, he's just unlucky.

Btw is it me or does Rooney hit the post in EVERY match he plays in? For england and man u

Steve Finnan was outstanding, I thought. Liverpool became decidedly more defensive in the second, which was disappointing, though understandably. There was none of that spark going forward they had in the first half.

Great result for them, though I don't think they have a chance in Turin, despite tonight's performance.

Iai
04-05-2005, 05:46 PM
Liverpool will have a chance if they do exactly what they did tonight - come out all guns blazing, score early, then shut up shop.

That way, they'd have to concede 3 goals to go out. And I don't really see Juve doing that. Not unless Del Piero or Nedved get in a time machine and start playing the way they did years ago.

Can someone explain what the away goal rule thing is all about, i here people on about it, aand since i dont watch footie that often any more, i have no idea what its...

Iai
04-05-2005, 05:58 PM
Basically, for some games, the overall score (aggregate) is accumulated from 2 games - one at each of the team's home grounds.

If those accumulated scores are equal, then away goals are used a tie-breaker. Any goals scored away from home are now worth 2, instead of 1.

So, if the score was 1-0 to Team A at Team A's ground, and 2-1 to Team B at Team B's ground, the aggregate would be 2-2. However, Team A's away goal, that they scored away, now counts as two, making the aggregate 3-2 - a win for Team A.

It only counts if the aggregate is level.

Tr00f. If both Liverpool and Chelsea reach the semi-finals I won't be able to stop laughing. They've definitely got a great chance in Turin now, as long as they keep their heads. From what I've read/seen about the game, they played amazingly tonight, even by their European standard, which has been very high, so they've got every chance of a result.

Honestly, how can a team in the Champion's League quarter-final have a defence which is incapable of dealing with a simple high ball? It's astonishing. How tall is Lucio? 8ft? And he still can't win a header. Ballack bought them a lifeline with that die, but I can't see them winning by 2 at one, bar a huge defensive restructuring.

In other news, I think Lucio has scored an own goal in every game I've seen him in.

youre theory sucks, winning the champins league with Porto is a huge accheivement. they managed to beat monaco who beat chelsea AND real madrid both great teams. so give him some slack just cause you might not like him does not make him an overated manager. and acctualy he has made some great sighnings, he bought Robben who had heared of him before he was going to come to chelsea and now you hear everyone saying chelsea are only good because they have Robben. you can't win the champions leugue with just money, if you bought all the best players in the world and stuck them in a team they wouldn't be half as great as everyone would think they would be. you have to be able to put out a team that performes well together which is what he has done.

Look, neither of you have proved each other wrong, despite your poor spelling and worse grammar.

Mourinho has done an excellent job at Chelsea, despite the money. Plenty of managers in the past have shown that throwing money at a team will not bring success, think Ranieri for an obvious example, Bryan Robson and a string of Lazio managers who routinely spent £70 million a season for UEFA Cup qualification. Mourinho has achieved huge results in getting the best from the players he already had, like Duff, like Lampard, even Cole, who I've never rated. Whatever way he's running the club, he's getting far more from those players than any manager in the past has, even the legendary Glenn Roeder of heart attack and relegation fame.

That said, he does have a lot of money and huge resources to work with, aswell as a fantastic sitting squad. He has advantages even Ferguson and Wenger didn't have at the height of their success. The real test for Mourinho will be a)Champion's League success this or next season and b)continued success for the next 5 or 6 years. Otherwise, he's unproven in the league.

at the time? :S Your not jus a glory hunter are you? :P Supporting the big chelski now?

Meh the norwich result was unexcusable...fergie dropped ruud, rooney and ronaldo;

keane and giggs were injured(i think).

BUt we should still be able to beat them with the team we had left...I still feel he should of started his strongest team, play to win the match at hand, not the match a week later

I think Fergie forgot the main rule of football, anyone can beat anyone. Norwich scored 2 against us not long ago, but we got 3 back

Hmm those were good games but the quality of the football at the Bernabeu on sunday was literally breathtaking. It was end to end stuff, lovely to watch.

Saints only beat Man U that time because the Man U players couldnt see eachother, not because of their explosive talents. Yeah I know you got 3 in the second half too. But, meh

that was the 3-1 the year before, 6-3 was no excuses.

Chelsea 2 - 1 Bayern

surely though, if man u players couldn't see, then that applies to southampton as well? stop using lame excuses for a defeat :thumb:

nah united claimed they couldnt see each other because of the dark grey kits they wore...so it wouldnt apply to southampton :P but it really is a stupid excuse

Nah, I just lost interest in Utd, and stopped supporting English football. Nowadays, I'm still interested, but I don't particularly care for any team, except whoever's playing Liverpool.

did anybody see the inter milan v ac milan game got abandoned?

poorquality
04-12-2005, 04:02 PM
Yup...inter fans cant take losing..its official...atleast i think it was the inter fans, throwing all those flares on the pitch then hitting Dida with a flare or something, **** straight the ref should take 'em off...AND if it was the inter fans, result should stand as 1-0 :)

That was a disgrace. I hope they get a hefty fine, and maybe even ban their fans from attending European games.

I think Bayern were very unlucky :( Shame Chelsea got a lucky deflected goal.

If an English club did that UEFA would kick us out of Europe for 3 seasons
i bet they'll do nothing to the italians

Its an utter discrace. The bad thing is, it isnt the first time. They still have huge fences around alot of stadiums, and not just in Italy, i mean all over Europe. Why the hell do these people see a football match as a place to start a war? You wont see that in the UK these days. We di have alot of fights, but they are usually low scale and are handled by the cops

but never a flare

actually when N.ireland came here last year they nearly hit the pitch with one
