The Aquabats
Yo, Check Out This Ride E.P. (2004)

Track Listing:
1. Yo, Check Out This Ride!
2. Zero Hour!
3. Todd-1 In Space Mountain Land!
4. Big Sky!
5. Throw Away The Trash!

So, i will begin with the first track. It's a really catchy tune, and very funny. it seems like the 'bats decided to change the style a bit. i heard this and honestly didn't even think it was them. Made me laugh because everyone thinks this about those import cars. great song and very catchy.

Zero Hour. also very catchy, but it sounds a lot like the first song. i would say that this song, and the first are the only two good songs on the album, the rest dissapointed me.

Track 3, Todd-1 In Space Mountain Land. This song is really repetative, annoying after 30 seconds... very annoying. Althought there is lots of musical talent, it is ruined by the repetitivness of the track.

Big Sky, this song seems a whole lot diffrent then any other track i've heard by them. it's an acoustic/electric track. rather slow... rather annoying. it seems to be missing something. i didn't like it at all.

Throw Away The Trash. this one was SUPER annoying. the chorus is a bunch of people yelling. i got sick of this one 10 seconds in.

overall... the cd should just be the first 2 songs. i really didn't like the rest. just not what i expected from this band and they don't really meet their "ska" genre in this title. a waste of $8.

2/5 - simple as that

Not a bad review, but out of curiosity, do all the track titles have exclamation marks at the end?

My guitarist is obsessed with the Aquabats! and I kinda have a soft spot for them. Pool Party and Cat With Two Heads are great. Anyway, he was anticipating the release of this since the aquabats! took a break for a bit but I'll have to tell him that its not that great. Good review.

well, it's not the fact that it's funny music. the cd just isn't that great. it's annoying and repetitive. i love them too. but the cd just isn't that great.

SELF ADMITTEDLY, the Aquabats haven't been ska since after "The Fury Of..."; to fault them for not fitting into the ska genre is unfair. Also, it's an EP. They haven't put in the same amount of work as they would with a full album.

Wasn't one of these songs a cover? Can't quite recall.

This EP has nothing on their older albums, yet I am looking forward to the new album coming out next year (touch wood).

The songs on this are, how can I put it, slightly poppier than the fan favourites, and they don't have the energy and comedic value than before. Still, they aren't bad.

2/5 from me also
