Thanks a lot for your replies!
And how do you call the "dance" while a hardcore song, the thing with your fists? I think we call it "violent dancing" or something like that. And the pushing when a punk song is played? Just "Pushing"??
And another thing... you all say you have been to so many hardcore shows. Are there so many near where you live?? Or does it take long to get there??
Because here are really not many ones... Maybe the reason is that i live in gemany

There are a lot of shows in general in America. I had always lived about 20 minutes from downtown Dallas until I recently moved to California.

To add to some of the definitions...
For metalcore add that since they're based of metal there is more complexity in the writings of guitar, more noted riffs added to it than hardcore has. hardcore has more punk like riffs (countdown to life) metal core has hard blurred riffs (throwdown)

Anyway, I listened to alot of metalcore when I was away. Checked out some cool bands. I heard the Fear Before The March Of Flames song, "Hey Kid, I'm a Computer..." from Art Damage do out in October. It was a lot heavier and I miss the old pop-punk melodies of "On The Brightside..."

I liked Society's Finest alot. "Pop Culture in Houston" was the song I heard. I think they sounded kinda like Atreyu, but less sucking. "Fist Over Fist" was the Donnybrook song I heard. It was good. I heard some Terror song "Shut Your Mouth" or something and it sucked. I also finally heard It Dies Today and I was very impressed. Have you heard of Iondissanince? They're pretty heavy technical grind.

Either way, try checking out a couple of these songs if you want to give them a second chance: "Push It Away", "What Have We Done", "Another Face", "All I've Got".

Totally hxc moment of the night:
So my friend's band Tyranny is playing 15 minutes from my work. They go on last (no set time as it's a house) and I get out at 9:30. I fly down there, change in my car, and run in halfway through their second song. Straight from my car to the pit. So I'm standing next to the guitarist, John, and I do a windmill and spin into the pit, and I feel my hand hit something. After the show I say to John I says:
"Dude, I think I hit your guitar"
"Dude, that was my face."

I saw them tonight. They were good, but the kids weren't into them because kids here suck.
Or they were here to see Between the Buried and Me. Question: Is it worth it to go alone to that show? I can't find anyone else to go with me and it's tomorrow night.
BuddyBigsby
08-23-2004, 03:50 AM
No, it wasn't that. Most were there to see BTBAM, but they moved plenty for all of the other breakdown laiden bands. But then a band like BBTS comes on and ohhh nooo!
But enough of me being bitter. BTBAM were really really good... so I would say yes. Set's a little short but they play good songs.
EDIT: Also, I racked up the following CDs thanks to Burnt By the Sun and Premontions of War bringing a Relapse distro with them:
Botch - We Are the Romans (European Edition)
Deadwater Drowning EP
Pig Destroyer / Gnob Split
Prayer for Cleansing - The Tragedy
And now I hold off on CDs because I've been going nuts.

Death By Stereo are sort of weird... one minute they're punk (and I don't listen to punk so if anyone wants to discredit me on that go right ahead) and the next BAM they're metalcore. But their old stuff was pretty much just metalcore with some melodic parts sprinkled around.

(sorry but i do)
er...that doesn't mean that its right. You obviously don't listen to alot of either genre..OR probably dont know what hardcore is. Just because you think things are the same doesnt change the fact that really, metalcore is basically this:
take the agressiveness of hardcore, and the lyrics of metal. Take the guitar riffs of metal and the vocals of metal, as well as the more indirect, artsy metal lyrical content and you have somthing totally different from hardcore.
metalcore has very complex guitar, hardcore doesnt, althought that doesn't mean there are no solos.
metalcore breakdowns are CHUG CHUG CHUG metally breakdowns, while hardcore breakdowns are usually a slower repeated main riff, or somthing thats just slower..not CHUG CHUG.
and also metal usually detunes while hardcore usually sticks to standard, or at the most extreme drops to d.
etc..etc..

Does anyone have the new Champion album? If so, is 'The Decline' re-recorded, or live or what? Because I downloaded a version of it, and it sounds pretty shitty. I hope they didn't screw it up, that's my favourite Champion tune...

You can still post from college.
Ya but I'd rather spend my time being focused on school, partying, sports, and whatever band I hope to start. Also, I always get way involved in stuff like literary magazines etc. I dunno. I'll be back randomly sometimes I guess.

I downloaded Count Our Numbers and just ordered Come Out Swinging. I'll buy Promises Kept eventually I guess, though I'm not too impressed by what I've heard.

Yes, the new album has really good sound, it's engineered by Kurt Ballou so you know it's good.
