Blacklisted and Love is Red didn't play, probably because there wasn't enough time because the show didn't end until midnight.
Forever I burn-They're ok, they played a pretty good set.
The Autumn Offering-They were a lot better live then on recording, they played a pretty good set.
Full Blown Chaos-They ruled. I had a lot of fun during their set, especially during the huge circle pit. Everyone seemed to be into them, and it was probably my favorite set of the night.
Candiria-I don't like this band at all, it was my first time listening to them and I didn't bother watching.
God Forbid-I never liked the songs I have, but they were really good. They got everybody into it and i'll check them out again.
Agnostic Front-They actually played a lot of old stuff, they played 2 or 3 songs from the new cd though. I had fun during their set, but the mic for the vocals were all messed up.
Hatebreed-I was only able to watch about 5 of their songs. I supposedly fell down, but I think I was out of it because when people were picking me up I had no idea where I was. I felt really weird, so me and my friends got out of there and just waited at the back watching them.
Overall, it was a good show, and I only saw 1 fight, but nothing really happened.

Chain Reaction's a cool venue because its so small. The place is like a ****ing sauna though. They have a REALLY weak air conditioner and when you go to a sold out show there (which is only like 200 kids, if that) you have no room to mosh and you start dripping sweat even if you're just standing around.

Dead to Fall are terrible. I really like three songs off of the first album, and that's it. I have both their albums, and even if you like it at first, it wears off really fast. Don't bother with that crap. It's just a nonstop chugfest, but since that isn't generic enough for them, they have to throw in lots of horrible attempts at Swedish riffage. The only good thing I can say about them is that the cover art for their new album pwns.

Are you serious?? Oh dude I can't wait. I love "Upon the Plains At Daybreak". Thanks for the tip man. Yeah the singing on Upon the Plains sounded a bit...lame.
Yeah, he cleaned up in that department. There's this one song on there where it gets really quiet, softly strummed guitars, and has this really great singy part a la BTBAM's "Mordecai"... definitely one of the highlights from the album, and he handles it great.

Daaayum last night was awesome.
Make Move - Good show, liked how they threw some raps in there.
Our Turn - AWESOME, got a t-shirt.
Lights Out - AWESOME
The Warriors - I've never really seen the big deal with the Warriors, but they put on an amazing show. 1000 times heavier live than on cd. For their last song they covered 'Bulls On Parade" and I almost pooped my pants.
Iron Age - Never heard them before but they were really good.
R'N'R - Pretty good, kinda boring.
Righteous Jams - Set of the night, sooo much energy and stagediving. They opened with "Invasion" going into "Scream And Shout" and ended with "Invasion" going into "Scream And Shout".
Mental - What more can I say? It's Mental, they were awesome.
Stiggy's War - Didn't get to stay for them, but I heard they were good.

I got Get An Oxygen Tank and Yo! today. Get Your Oxygen Tank has some really cool songs on it, and the ones I didn't like too much before, I am liking a lot more now. I already had the Yo! 7", but the Supertouch cover and the live set on the CD are really good. And the artwork on these cds is great.

That does sound really good. I had a good night last night too.
The John Hancocks - Local punk band. Not really my kind of stuff, it was their first show though, and they didn't mess up or anything, so I'll give them that.
Other local band I didn't know the name of - Totally blew. Really crappy clichemo. I waited outside for them to get over.
Seven Left Standing - The only metalcore band in the town that they're from. And to my knowledge, the only good band from there. They drove 50 miles to play, and I drove 90 miles to see them for a second time. They did an awesome cover on Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste to end their set. The crowd wasn't really feeling it for them though. www.purevolume.com/sevenleftstanding
If I Die - Christian metalcore from Fargo, North Dakota. Totally energetic, awesome set. They made good use of the very small playing space offered. After the set, they said they'd be playing somewhere in Minnesota with The Chariot New Year's eve. If I would have known this, I probably would have tried to go see that one instead of going to this one. www.purevolume.com/ifidie

So, I read this book called American Hardcore at Barnes and Nobles today, but didn't buy it. It was so awesome though, I think I should. It talked about everyone, Bad Brains, Misfits, Black Flag, etc. and had all these pictures. Man, those shows were violent. Better than anything now I think.

I've read some of that book. I've been wanting to pick it up for a while but every place I go is out of it. I did get some pretty good reads at Barnes and Noble the other day though. One is Solipsist by Henry Rolilns. It's intense. It's basically a bunch of journal-like entries he wrote down over the course of 3 years while living in various cities. All of the entries though are basically like reading thoughts, and the theme of the book is Solipsism, which is basically becoming obsessed with the self and isolating yourself, so a lot of the thoughts in there are just completely cynical, frantic, and at times homocidal. It's really difficult to explain, but it basically makes you feel good about hating people.
The other one caught my eye as I was looking for American Hardcore, actually. It's called Nothing Feels Good (after the Promise Ring album) and it's about the commercialization of "emo" and the culture behind it. It's a pretty interesting and realistic depiction of a lot of these self-proclaimed "emo" kids, the only thing I don't like about it is if you didn't know your stuff before reading the book, the author would reinforce the notions that Dashboard and Saves the Day and stuff like that is emo. He actually calls Weezer's Pinkerton an "emo cornerstone" and even refers to New Found Glory as emo. I mean the book starts off ok because he mentions Rites of Spring and some of the DC band, but the more he gets into the 90's, it really shows he didn't do his research. Although, the author is a writer for Spin, so it's really not that surprising. Aside from the genre crap though, it's a really cool book
Woah, that was way more than I thought I would say.

Dillinger are considired Tech Metal or "Math Metal." Technically, they don't have much grind in them, but their music and the way they play there instruments is very technical, hence the term Tech Metal. Try Between The Buried And Me (http://www.purevolume.com/betweentheburiedandme) and Ion Dissonance.

They're metalcore. It's kind of a big deal because Turmoil played completely by surprise and this was their unofficial reunion show, the big one everyone is excited for not being until April. They broke up a couple years ago, but had a pretty good following. One or two of the guys formed Lickgoldensky after Turmoil broke up.

Whoa, cool, Lickgoldensky.

OH SNAP! I just read the 100 demons, Outbreak, Champion show is coming here the 16th. That would rule if it's at the same place as the DB4D/Blacklisted show that night because that would be the best day ever.

Arizona's North Side Kings will be shooting a video on January 22nd & 23rd in Arizona for the song Bad Guy. Here is a statement from Danny NSK regarding the video.
"Be in North Side King's Video! emo kids, metal kids, and hc kids needed!
Saturday and Sunday January 22nd and 23rd we're filming our video for
"the bad guy" during the day at the big fish pub. We need a big group of emo kids to at least partially fill the club for one scene (even if you wanna just dress up emo, that'll work too.) Then we need all of the hardcore, punk, thug, and metal kids we can get to fully fill the club for the rest of the video. I'll post the time to be there later this week. We're doing a version that will be on the DVD and another version that will be for the music channels. So, come on down and have a good ****ing time!
You don't even know the half of it - this is going to be insane. Basically the whole video is a horror movie/fight with an Emo show being taken over by a crew of assholes!
Fake blood and gore effects, super hot chicks, drinking, breakdancing, Chicken Suit disco ****, a big fake horse, prop beer bottles and fake baseball bats, limbs flying through the air, chainsaws, fighting - it's like a Troma movie but a music video. The Emo band (pretty much played by Where Eagles Dare ha ha) is on stage when the mayhem starts. Crying emo kids get thugged. So -we need people dressed like Emo kids more than anything cause we have a million thugs.
If interested in having a part email dannynsk@aol.com and we'll get it in. I definatly need a head count."
That sounds like a sweet video.

Uhh.
Have decent equipment, especial if when you start playing shows
Know how to find a good tone
Practice a good amount (Several times a week)
Be able to play atleast for 20 minutes before playing shows
Practice earlier in the day before a show
Each member should work on songs even outside of practice
Try not to be too generic
Be proficiant at your instruments/vocals
Music theory always helps

Connecticut hardcore band Death Threat is reportedly calling it quits, after roughly eight years together. An official announcement hasn't yet been made, but the group will reportedly play their final show on January 29th at the Knights Of Columbus in Wallingford, CT, alongside Madball, 100 Demons, Death Before Dishonor, and others.
