Nice stars.
I don't like A18 that much, but I've only heard one or two songs. The Risk Taken is cool, they remind me of Distance Makes... PTW.
I love A18. There's just something about them I can't get enough of... they have this rock element that makes them like really laid back hardcore. I could listen to them on a lazy summer day, you know?

Cool, I was looking up info on Thursday because I found a song by them called "Evacuate" from an album Tomorrow Seems So Hopeless. Apparently its a Negative Approach tribute album released by Eyeball with bands like Converge, 25 Ta Life, Thursday and Shai Halud. The weird thing is "Evacuate" could actually pass as a Thursday song.

I am 14 and have a very wide range of music - i listen to most of the 'core' bands as descibed in the thread, to mogwai, explosions in the sky, and other melodic post rock, but my taste in music also reaches classical, jazz, pop/rock, and ska. I am sick of constantly being catogorised as an obnoxious teen who only listens to non melodic noise and nu-metal. Sure, I enjoy noise bands (converge, norma jean and the like...) but don't you all think that it is time to stop analysing sub-genres, criticizing people for their music taste, and stereotyping young music fans, and time to start paying attention to what really matters - the musicians, what they stand for, and whether or not the music is what you like?
:thumb: i couldn't have said it any better. i just started reading these posts and all today because i wanted to see what others had to say about the "core" bands out there. i am also very open to different kinds of music, and this has brought me to wonderful places in the music world. if any of you have thriving local scenes i suggest you get out there and get to know some of the local talent. five years ago i never thought that my favorite bands would be people i'm on a name-to-name basis. and i'm not talking about crappy high school punk bands, but bands that are intelligent as intelligent gets when it comes to music. so all you kids out there that think you know what your talking about when it comes to music, your wrong. of course there are bands that are just horrible (eg disturbed, linkin park, evenecance) but they are just awuful in every sence. if you get a chance go to purevolume.com and look up the meteah strike (quite possibly the best band ever to come from milwaukee, except of course for the promise ring, and if you ever claim to know anything about emo and have never listened to the promise ring, then you know less than nothing) also look up the felix culpa and since by man, and try to get your hands on the album "quietus" by forstella ford and that will rip any of your "grindcore" to hell. and i guess as a final point, i would stop wasting your time trying to define what you listen to and just listen to what ever fits your fancy, if it just happens to be unoriginal lyrics with two cords like disturbed, then so be it. i don't think any of those bands you guys listen to really said, "hey guys, listen to this awsome sudo-harcore quasi-grindecore metal riff i came up with." they just play what they want. and i would stop calling people "newby mcnewbsters" becuase it makes you sound like an arogant jerk. one more thing, i know if you ever called fugazi "emo" ian mckaye would have a f***in' fit  . so just keep it real, and remember, if we can't agree on everything, lets just agree that linkin park is the most overrated band ever, becuase quite frankly, they suck.

BuddyBigsby got pwned by the gods of show cancellations tonight. So I drove down to the venue tonight for the Internal Affairs / Outbreak / A18 / The Risk Taken show. Now, I mainly wanted to see A18 and TRT, because I missed A18 the other night when their show with Most Precious Blood sold out, and I can't see the Risk Taken later this week because I'll be working. So this show was going to be perfect. I like IA and Outbreak, but they were more like bonuses in my eyes. So I drive allllllll the way down there, and I take a look at the marquee. Ruh roh, no A18 or Risk Taken! Hoping they just didn't put them up on the marquee for some reason, I go to check the set times they post at the box office. No A18 or Risk Taken. I guess the TWO bands I MAINLY wanted to see cancelled, but the venue innocently just plum forgot about taking the bands off their website. ****ing morons.
The Answer got put on the show. I remember liking them, but I couldn't remember where I heard them or what they sounded like. I didn't want to sit through the 2 or 3 bands I really didn't care about to see Outbreak and Internal Affairs, so I just came home and had a chicken taco. My friend's band is playing a backyard show on Saturday, so I guess I'll just have to double mosh it up there.

Well I have to find a poem that deals with a similar topic.
I thought of doing Bane, Earth Crisis, and American Nightmare already.
Do "the walrus and the carpenter" or "the owl and the pussycat"

English. What we have to do is pick a song and find a poem with a similar topic, right 2 paragraphs comparing and contrasting the song and the poem, and I have to find the literary devices in the song.
I've done similar assignments. they are kind of cool, but sometimes it is hard to find a poem related to the song.

At the Shattered Realm show one of the bands opened up saying "Hey, We're Bad Luck 13" my friend got scared shitless because Bad Luck once pretended to be Bleeding Through and at a show and ****ed the place up.
My sister wants me to take her and her friends to that Thursday show.

There's this band here who was supposedly trying to copy Bad Luck 13. They let a chicken loose and started kicking it and stuff and hate barbed wire baseball bats. I hear it didn't come close and I don't think they'll try it again.
I thought the whole faking Bleeding Through thing was rumor, that's actually true? Haha, that rules though.

You gunna take them? No, my sister doesn't even listen to Thursday, just her friends. Plus I don't feel like spending 50 bucks on a ticket off ebay. I rather go see the Converge set the day before than leave.

I do, I'm going to Casey Jones next Tuesday.
But my mom doesn't like when I do because I "get home to late" which is BS because I'm up that late anyway. So every now and then she let's me go.

I went to a local show last night. Highlights were Ariadne, my friend's grindcore/hardcore band. They tore the place down. They played Norma Jean's "Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste" and I went ****ing nuts. The singer ended up puking. A scene kids put on bandana's and there was plenty of moshing. Jena Berlin, a hardcore/emocore band from Philly were okay. SGR, an awesome ska band from Philly, were the best set off the night. They really got the crowd moving. They're playing with Catch 22 at the Troc next week.

I was at some place called Peddlers Village(near New Hope), if anybody knows where that's at, and I was wearing a Minor Threat hoodie and some guy came up to me and said nice sweatshirt. He said he used to hang out with Ian Mackaye all the time in DC. So that was pretty cool.
I hope I can go to this local show tonight, it's 5 minutes away from my house.

Haha, yeah, I went with my parents and my neice and nephew. I was pissed that the candy store was closed by the time I found it, that place rules.
