95% of the people who whine about genres:
1. Newjacks / Just got into "screamo"
2. Listen to a handful of bands
or both. You said NewJack. Hahahaha, my friend out here says that like 24/7.

I checked out a lot of screamo/grindcore tonight. Some old favorites like Neil Perry, Crestfallen, Majority Rule, Love Lost But Not Forgotten. Kaospilot. But I found a lot of new grind-y screamo stuff like Song Of Zahustra (sp), Racebannon, His Hero Is Gone, Danad, Ruins, In/Humanity. Some good stuff. I also checked out this cool emo band on Level Plane, Transisitor Transisitor. And I found an amazing Nintendocore band but the name escapes me. I listened to Bury Your Dead and On Broken Wings and they sounded real good. I also found the weirdest band on the face of this earth, Mr. California And The State Police. Their like rock/electronica/weird, with song titles like No Soda Pop and Can You Beat The Chicken? (both of which have the song titles repeated many times).
You can download some songs at the bottom of the page here.

But look for Can You Beat The Chicken? and No Soda Pop if you have a downloading program.

Man, it's so sad their entire fanbase was in Southern California and there's only a few kids outside of this scene that know of them :(
Their last show was the best show I've ever been to. So many stage dives, so many memories, so much emotion and just a great overall performance. I'm actually wearing my "Taken: 1998-2004" shirt right now. Ah, memories.

I don't really like Norma Jean. I can't differentiate between the songs I hear by them and by Hopesfall. They both sound the same.
Also, I finally heard GUTG's Year One. I'm in shock that I had never heard any of it and had just been listening to We're Down 'Till We're Underground for a while, which is still a great cd. But WOW! I am impressed.

A Life Once Lost played first and played maybe 5 or 6 songs. They played a new one and said "this one will be out on ferret records in 2005." Weird that ferret is picking them up, but atleast they are getting the recognition.
Throwdown had some amp problems which cut time into their set, giving them time for 4 songs. This list consisted of You Can't Kill Integrity, Raise Your Fist, Unite, and Forever. Very short set, but awesome, none the less.
For The Love Of was awesome. My second time seeing them, including hellfest. It's great to hear the tunes live.
I didn't watch Norma Jean live because i really didn't care much about them. I won't bash them and say they are the worst band ever, because there are far worse, but they bore me live.
Tons of fights between mall metal kids (god forbid headlined the show, but i left before them.) and hardcore kids.

?!???! What is a breakdown?! Is it:
A) A part where the music slows down and the guitar and vocals usually get clean.
Ex: Poison the Well- Slice Paper Wrists, the clean part with "I remember the day the sun went out. It halted all progression with all its beauty."
B) A part in the music where the guitars become palm-muted and start to chug
Ex: Poison the Well- Slice Paper Wrists, the part right after the verse, with the chugga chugga, Jeff screaming and that eerie guitar lead.

**** crews. Sean Ingram said it best when he referred to them as gangs. I went to a show tonight just to see my friend's band play some songs before I had to go to work, and then I left. I wish I had stuck around, because this happened:'
my band played a show tonight...and of course...there was a stupid hardcore krew there...during one of the earlier bands, our friend jeff went out to pit, and as he pushed one guy off, *a member of the krew* the guy answered back with a punch in the head...where the hell is the justice in that...and it continued....during earn your keep, a friend of our band, matt, went circle pitting to have a good time...and as he did it....a member of a krew there kicked him as he went by...well matt went around the circle and he came back and kicked the guy back...and yea...we saw the true side of a hardcore krew....at least 6 of them jumped matt and beat him up...he got a gash on the side of his head..and blood was all over the side of his face...well my friend Brian defended matt, and told the krew how stupid that was to do that...and the krew didn't take kindly to his words...they started talking **** to brian, and eventually he just went inside the house...so the rest of us started loading up our ****, and various krew members started coming up to us saying "we need to have a word with your bassist"....so this continued...and brian stayed in the house....so we're out there standing near the truck and all 15+ of their krew came up to 3 of us, and started saying, "were giving you an option, you're friend comes out and fights us 1 on 1 *even though that's an effin joke in itself*, or he doesn't fight, and we're gonna go around telling ppl your band sucks and you're a bunch of pussies"...there was no way in hell we were going to let brian fight these guys...so we waited around..and eventually brian came out we jumped in his truck, and drove off....so all i have to say is this..hardcore krews are the worst thing to ever happen to this genre..they're no better than common street gangs, and all they do is take away the fun of a show, and dish out violence to kids who they don't like......there's nothing beneficial to what they do at all.....they only cause problems...isn't it funny how when hardcore krews are together they are tough, yet as soon as they're by themselves, they aren't tough at all, and always say sorry after they hit someone in the pit....some day....there's gonna be a rise of positive thinking and anti-krew kids...and only then will we finally see a group of kids who stand up to these krews and get them to stop...until then though....the hardcore scene is going to be ruined by these kids....i'll end this by quoting something tonight, this is what one of the krew kids said to me "he disrespected us"...well guess what, you don't deserve it.
I'm ready for blood. I would've gotten creamed because I'm a small guy, but I don't even care.

No. There are different.. "kinds".. as with any trendy train to roll along - Emo "but still hardcore" kids, christian "hardcore", and then lots of other kinds of "Hardcore" (some is basically nu-metal bands with really bad screaming and growling), blah blah. there was a terror show last night with unearth headlining, black dahlia murder and remembering never opening. From what i hear, everything went fine until terror came on, then there were 4 fights, including an older guy getting his face bashed in and ambulances coming and shutting down the show. Terror played 4 songs, but in that time span, 4 major fights happened. Unearth didn't even get to play.
Thanks to the crews, i have a billion friends who are too scared to see bands like terror, because how many crews back them up and how many fights go down at their shows.

When I went to a show yesterday, there was this fashioncore kid there, and he was wearing a pink bandana over his face, cowboy style. Anyway, the lead singer of one of the bands, Break Away, goes, "Dude, are you from Philly? Cause you look tough as hell." I was cracking up.

Would Unearth be classified as Metalcore? It's hard to tell in some parts.

Question: What is the Circle Takes the Square guitarist/singer, Drew's last name? I don't have my CD case handy and I need to cite his full name for my creative writing class analysis. Thanks. Feel free just to IM it to me.

Today at school, me and some friends were talking and somehow I brought up 'Acapellica', and it turned out a lot of them knew about it. Just thought you might wanna know, Buddy.

Hahaha, wow. Do me a favor and ask them how they found out. My friend had the same thing happen to him.

I have to say this: the new Sum 41 cd is very very good. I'm posting it in hear because it has a metal/metalcore feel, and I thought you guys might want to check it out.
"The bitter end" sounds like a mix between Metallica's "batter" and "master of puppets."
