I think Undertaker and Angle might happen at the next PPV which I think is No Way Out.
I certainly hope there's a way for Rey not to get that title shot, I've heard rumours to that effect anyway.
Still can't believe they wasted the 2006 Rumble like they did, so much potential that was let down by the matches. Ironically, the first two matches of the night were probably the best ones - the cruiserweights and the women.
Boogeyman winning in one move with a pumphandle slam? Lame.
Cena winning with an STF? Lame.
Angle winning with a drop toe hold? Lame again.
I'm hoping for Randy Orton and HHH to be involved in the Wrestlemania 22 main event for their shows. It may be Undertaker's last Wrestlemania but when you only show up (to make an entrance, let alone wrestle) once every few weeks, then I don't think you deserve the spot when other guys have worked hard every week. And I don't think Rey should have a WM main event spot either, the only reason Chavo and Rey are such favourites at the moment is because of the sympathy from Eddie's death.
Rumour has it that Undertaker will be facing Mark Henry at Wrestlemania :-\

Highlights of the Rumble:
Paul London in the cruiserweight match.
Triple H's entrance to the Rumble (looked real cool).
Cena's new spaceship/bridge entrance (doesn't deserve one that cool).
Best line:
Lita: ...what the hell are YOU doing here?
Hacksaw Jim Duggan: I'm delivering a message for John Cena. *Ahem.* HOOOO!

Yeah the two title matches were awful. I hate Cena with a passion but at least Mark Henry didnt win. The collapsing ring was pretty cool. I liked te way they were making angle a face for the night but still keeping his heel ways by having him totally cheat to win.

Yeah, I think so. I think Orton is going to cash in his "favor" from Booker T at No Way Out. Then, I envision Mysterio and Booker feuding for the US Title, and Rey will win it as his "consolation prize" for getting screwed out of the Main Event at Wrestlemania.

of course with the wwe they do it by making the guy they are gonna put in the main event into a total asshat
I don't think it's Orton's fault as much as it's the writers' fault. They always resort to cheap heat tactics, and they're using a dead wrestler to get cheap heat before the PPV.
Also, remember that Rey suggested the storyline of bringing his kid into it. Everyone was hating on Eddie for that, but THAT was entirely all on Rey.
These guys are actors. What the writers say goes, or else they get canned.

Even though it may be disrespectful to use Eddie to generate heat for people like HHH/Orton, I think it is equally transparent using Eddie to push Chavo and Rey. There's no way Rey would have been given the Rumble win were it not for this Eddie business.

Yeah man, definitely. Although I seriously thought that the HHH/Chavo match on RAW last week was by far the match of the night.
Remember, Rey was the one that approached the writers to bring his own son into a God damn storyline. That right there is terrible in itself. Bringing in your own family for a storyline? Geez.
Grant it, there's no justification for "EDDIE IS IN HELL" at all; imagine if you were Eddie's wife or daughter watching that. How can you explain that to them? **** Vince, man. What a dick.
I think Chavo is a great worker, to be honest, but he's never going to get main event status on his own. Maybe IC belt, which would be cool, but he'll never be in the main event because Vince gets such a boner over guys that are over 6' and 300+ pounds.

HHH and Chavo did have a good match, I was hoping HHH would try a pedigree off the turnbuckle at one point but he didn't :(.
Guys like Rey and Chavo are good sometimes, but they just aren't believable as main eventers. I mean look at the 619, it's not much of a move at all really. Even in a scripted fight, it's a bit of a stretch to suggest a move like that followed by a seated senton would finish things, especially when half the guys probably bench Rey's weight for a warm-up.

And that is going to be an amazing match to say the least. I'm kinda angry that Edge lost the title. I mean don't get me wrong, I like Cena but I've been watching wrestling for like 7 years now and I remember E and C in the TLC matches and I felt like he FINALLY got his big break. And Lita, they need to drop her whorish self and put Edge alone. Edge deserves a good title run. And that's all about that. :thumb:

02-08-2006, 06:11 PM
Amen. How obvious do they need to make it, that they will take any possible distraction to take the attention off Cena's actual in-ring ability? He may be getting better, but you should be good in the ring before you're champion, not pick it up after. And for the record, an STF is not a finisher anymore than a fireman's carry. Oh wait . Haha.
It's lame that Edge's title run was so short, he's been good his whole career, especially the TLC matches, which is what has led to his match with Foley no doubt. His in-ring work back around The Brood times was awesome, really consistent. Pity he doesn't use the Downward Spiral anymore, except once off a ladder in a TLC match. It was an awesome move. His spear is pretty pussy, you need to be built like Goldberg or Rhino to make it look good. If one thing is holding him back from a really good main event run, it's a convincing finisher. He is getting some good work though.

The match HHH had with Flair was pretty much the same as the match he had with him last time they did an Australian show in Sydney. I think they use the live events to do test runs of matches like that, exact same finish.
Yeah, Sting did wrestle at Final Resolution then he retired on the next Impact episode I think. He'll probably still make a few appearances to help TNA, I don't think they would have signed him to a one-year contract to have him leave so soon. He got $500,000USD for one match, or so I heard. I hope that's just an internet rumour, because that is far too much money for anyone to make for 30 minutes work.

I bet that guy killed himself during the Royal Rumble.
As for Monty Brown's Pounce, I thought it was stupid at first, but theres something about getting shoulderblocked by a 260 pound linebacker at full speed, and going flying halfway across the ring. I kind of like it.

Haha, they tried doing that to ECW the first time they left for WWF/E. But got beat in a rather bloody match with Balls Mahoney and Spike Dudley, giving the titles back to ECW.
That Mike Awesome situation was weird aswell... didn't he move from ECW to WCW, took the belt with him, then fought Taz, who was an WWE wrestler at the time for the title?

Are you sure about that? I have the DVD which has the Dudleys vs Spike and Balls Mahoney and Spike and Balls win it. Then Joey Styles is all crazy and says "The belts are staying with ECW!". PLus during the match Joey is talking about them moving to WWF and Bubba says "Thanks Vince!".

Can someone explain to me how Bradshaw went from being just Bradshaw in the Acolytes who wasn't really a main person and just had little skits on sunday heat with the Acolyte Protection Agency to being JBL and being the champ for a year?
I just don't understand how Bradshaw from Acolytes is now (or last time I checked) champion.
Edit: That is if it's the same guy, it appears to be.
JBL was a part of the APA with Ron Simmons, but Simmons retired from wrestling, so Bradshaw turned into a 21st Century Million Dollar Man. He was the top guy in the brand, so that's why he had the belt for so long. Now, he's in a feud with Lashley, which is good for both parties because all Lashley did was squash tag teams and jobbers and JBL didn't have any feud worth mentioning... I mean, come on, the Boogeyman?
And it helps to be buddy-buddy with Vince-dawg, too, heh.

Still a pretty big jump from Bradshaw to JBL. I wouldn't have seen it coming.
I just watched ECW One Night Stand. Can some one explain what that was all about? I mean first of all why did ECW break up?
2nd, there was all that invasion at the end where the WWE come in and attack and they're all supposed to hate each other.
Do they all actually hate each other because the WWE broke up ECW or was it a kind of friendly promotion thing and after the show they all sat back stage together and drank hot chocolate?
Edit: Watching Vengeance 2005, why the **** does Cena have a spinning belt? That's ridiculous.

Yep,Ron Simmons was Farooq. Ron Simmons didn't actually retire but was fired I believe due to his involvement in the infamous "Flight From Hell" If you search for it on some websites like www.obsessedwithwrestling.com you are bound to find something on it.
The One Night Stand was basically a pay per view to celebrate the legacy of ECW. Basically the reason ECW went away is because they ran out of money and they went belly up.
It was a friendly thing. WWE and ECW had a friendly relationship for many years and would often cross promote for one another. The only non-friendly confortation you see in that is JBL vs. The Blue Meanie which was a complete shoot. That IS a real fight and it stirred a lot of trouble in the wrestling world.
And yes I agree. The spinning belt is nothing short of retarded. It's just a really lame attempt on the part of Vince to draw in the new hip hop fad that is popular right now amongst teenagers.

I can't find anything about that Flight from Hell, only something about someone putting shaving cream in big shows hair?
I noticed that Blue Meanies face was really cut up, I didn't see what happened though as I was staring at Taz wondering why I had never noticed he was so small before.
Why were they fighting for real?
Cena seems quite amused with his belt, he gives it a playful poke every so often and chuckles to himself.

While you are here check out the site,I think it's the world's largest wrestling database site.
I was wrong about it. This isn't why Ron Simmons got fired. But I do believe it had something to do with alcoholism. Blue Meanie and JBL had had heat from their old days when Meanie wrestled in WWF. They had continued their war through the internet wrestling media for several years.
Simmons was having a bit of trouble with the bottle before, but he cleaned himself up and retired. He now works for the WWE in promotions, I think.

Who else thinks the current WWE should not have been forced to change there name? They are a far more public name than the World Wildlife Foundation or whatever group complained. Plus, they have always been known as the WWF, whereas the other guys obviously are not. You never heard after a special on Animal Planet: This show brought to you by the WWF, rawk on, or something along those lines.

RVD was never in contention for the WM title shot as far as I'm concerned, but it's not like he hasn't had a great run in the ring so far since his return.
The main event last night was great. I seriously thought HHH won when he was pinning Big Show after he pushed RVD off the turnbuckle, but RVD broke it up. And after HHH was outside the ring, I seriously thought after the parallel-to-perpendicular five-star frog splash that RVD was gonna win it.
And then all of a sudden he gets Pedigree'd. Kind of a quick finish there, but hey, it was a great match. Big Show looked awesome.

Also, The Dick have been released.
The early withdrawl of The Dicks comes as a big shock to me. I saw them as the upcoming premiere tag team on Smackdown, and would be stiff competition for MNM. Vince should have really stroked The Dicks' egos some more, and maybe give them a little play in the field? But noooooooo, instead he just inserted The Dicks in any match he could and most of the time they came off a little limp in their performance.

Good match between Taker and Angle, but it was blatantly obvious Trips would be against Cena.
I think Tatanka is looking (and performing) a hell of a lot better than Road Warrior Animal did when he re-debuted. Gross.
And this sounds mean, but I'm glad JBL is going to have some time off. He was starting to look like he wasn't lifting or training; he just looked gross and flabby. Hopefully he'll start training after successful surgery, because Smackdown! needs another top heel besides Orton.

I hope they don't put the title on Rey. They've already ruined the potential for a great 1 on 1 between Angle and Orton.

Agreed.
Angle is pissed that it's going to be a triple threat instead of a one-on-one.
The C4 absolutelyfreakingrules.
I guarantee that a face will win MITB2, especially if HHH wins the title.

I hate the way the WWE doesn't allow wrestlers to use certain moves. The cruiserweight division could be absolutely awesome with the talent that is there.
Yeah, I heard about them taking moves away for being dangerous. It's a shame really, cause most of the cruiserweights need the high risk moves to get them over to the fans. Best cruiserweight match I've seen was a 4 way between Billy Kidman, Rey Mysterio Jr, Psicosis and Juventud Guerrera at WCW Souled Out '99.
I remember some talk about Rey Mysterio's weight a while back aswell. He was 164 pounds when he made his ECW debut and he's bulked up since then, so I expect he weighs more.
Oh yeah, the C4 feckin' rips! what a move.

Yeah, take away the high risk moves from cruiserweights and what do you have? A high school chess team.

Heh, best quote from Joey Styles when Rey Mysterio and Psicosis made their debuts in ECW...
"I don't know what the hell that move is! (Tries to name the move) If any of the fans wanna call the hotline and tell me, go ahead. But if you're Vince McMahon or Eric Bischoff, don't even try it buddy..."What a Maneuver" won't cut it this time!"

I hope they go all out with the Shane-O-Mac vs HBK. Its been a while since I've seen Shane compete, and he was always great.
Yeah, Shane-O-Mac is crazy. I remember when he went turnbuckle-to-turnbuckle.
He's gotta get rid of that goofy dance, though.
At chalk up another Wrestlemania victory for Undertaker: Mark Henry cost him the title on tonight's Smackdown!.

Saw SD live in Sydney last night. Bit strange, card had been changed around a lot.
1. London & Kendrick vs Kid Kash & Greg Helms.
This match was pretty good, London and Kendrick did some good spots including dives to the outside, the dropkick/moonsault and their double team finisher for the win.
2. Matt Hardy vs Animal.
Bit weird, I think the original card was for Matt Hardy & Animal to face MNM but instead this was thrown together. Crap match, in the first 20 seconds Hardy goes for a double axe-handle and misses, he sells that he has hurt his knee and actually convinces most of us, especially when the trainer and EMTs run down. Sells it for two minutes, then as he is being helped out, Animal attacks from behind and works over his knee for a few minutes before winning after countering a Twist Of Fate to a dragon screw and using the ropes for the win.
I forget what exactly happened next. There was a JBL promo seeing as he couldn't compete (was originally to face Rey I think), but he just worked the crowd for a while before the Boogeyman showed up. Orlando Jordan ran out to make the save and was promptly squashed by Boogeman in a match that was as short as it was boring.
Somewhere they had a one on one man between Funaki and I think the opponent was Jamie Noble. Went for a long time and they put on a good match but I don't think this had been advertised either and the crowd were completely dead for it.
Fit Finlay then took on Slyvan, beating him in a few minutes in a simple match. Afterwards he went to attack Sylvans knee with his club but the referee took it. Finlay chases the ref to the back. He doesn't run very fast.
Then we had a tag titles match, Bobby Lashley & Rey Mysterio vs MNM. Wasn't a scheduled match but I believe the reshuffling began with JBL being taken out because of his hand, leaving Rey to need a match which prompted all the shuffling. Rey with the biggest pop of the night so far, a large number of chants for Eddie, for whom RIP stands for Reappear In Promos.
Crowd was big into Rey, mainly the kids. And there were many kids. Lashley got some good spots, and him and Rey make a good face team really. Lashley is freaking huge. Finish came when Lashley was in control, about to hit a dominator on one of them, when the other hit him with the title belts for the DQ. MNM try to continue working on Rey and Lashley but Rey fights back and sends Nitro and Mercury to the ropes, Melina gets between them and he throws her on to them as well, hits a triple 619 and Lashley then hits the dominator on one of the guys.
I don't remember anything else happening before then and the intermission.
Coming back, there is a US title match between Benoit and Booker. Benoit didn't get the pop I expected him to get, and the match really wasn't that exciting. Didn't pay much attention, but the finishing spot came with Booker T distracting the ref, Sharmell hitting a low blow on Benoit, and Booker looking for the scissors kick but having it countered to the Crossface.
Main event was a fatal four-way for the title between Henry, Orton, Taker and Angle.
Henry out first to a mixture of boos and disinterest. Orton out next with his new entrance music, n00b-heavy crowd mainly boos him. Kurt Angle out to 50/50 boos and cheers, maybe even more boos than cheers. Undertaker recieved the biggest pop of the night. Match went for a fair while, with Orton carrying most of the in ring work, hitting a good RKO on Henry but not getting the win. Also went for an RKO on Taker and got incredible air, level with Taker's head easily except Taker countered it, throwing him down and picking him up for a chokeslam. Taker and Henry out of the ring somehow, and Angle hits the Angleslam on Orton for the win.
After the match, Taker and Orton are left in the ring, JBL runs out for some reason to be chokeslammed and tombstoned, then another (brutal looking) tombstone on Orton. That's all.
Crowd liked Taker and Rey the most overall.

Yeah, Shane-O-Mac is crazy. I remember when he went turnbuckle-to-turnbuckle.
Was that where he put Vince's head in a trashcan? Haha, that was hilarious. Shane takes a lot of risks from what I've seen of him....has he ever been seriously hurt?
Speaking of both of them, I recently watched stole Survivor Series '03 from a friend where both of them competed. First Shane in an ambulance match with Kane, then Vince in a Buried Alive match with the Undertaker. I can't believe how much Vince bled  it was like he cut an artery in his head.
I wanted to go to the Smackdown! show, but the nearest one was Sydney. Bastards.

Anyone heard Randall's new theme music? Apparently its not very good.
Oh good, I can finally ban someone for fagging up this thread! :-D
Randy's new music is something by Killswitch Engage. It sucks. It doesn't even define him as a character.

hardy for sure
Anyone else see the WWE returning to an "old days" feel? I see a lot of quirkiness going on in RAW, with the Spirit Squad, Mickie James, old superstars returning (i.e. Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Marty Jannetty) for brief stays...
Vince is going back to the '80s with all these gimmick wrestlers like the Boogeyman.
Seriously, though: Pirate Paul Burchill? He's the man.
Hardy's definitely going to be in a ladder match. Hardy is synonymous with Laddder and TLC matches because he always hits those big spots.
Also, the juniors were all released. Hahahahahhaha. Poor little people.

Boogeyman just looks like a variant of Papa Shango. Aside from he eats worms instead of making people vomit spontaniously.
Yes, Jerry Lawler's evil dentist. I'm sure that was after Bret Hart shoved his foot in The King's mouth. I seem to remember that Jerry Lawler had an old sock he'd done loads of stuff with and was planning on shoving it in Bret Hart's mouth...but it got reversed.
