Except for a couple pieces here and there, I'm happy with this one. This is King Conan Lives from my Scarlet Citadel project. I also have the lyrics ready for this one as well if anybody cares to look over them. I considered posting them in the Lyrics forum, but most of the people there only get on your *** if you don't use a funky rhyme scheme or sing about something abstract enough for them to insert their own meanings into.

Shattered_Future

I wish it wasn't MIDI, but it sounds pretty sweet. If you tab this out, I can try to record it in spare time...

Steerpike
04-04-2008, 11:31 PM
Do you have GuitarPro? I have everything tabbed out save vocals. There's no good MIDI for harsh vocals sadly.

Shattered_Future
04-04-2008, 11:35 PM
Unfortunately, no. But if there's a way to convert it to a pdf file ( I know you can do it with powertabs), that would work fine.

Steerpike
04-04-2008, 11:57 PM
I'll see what I can do.

Well, GuitarPro can export the tablature to a BMP file, albeit it only goes 99 bars deep. Kind of retarded. I'll try to work with this and see what happens.

This comes as no shock to me.

They had a falling out with several members, then got back together to appease a bunch of dickhead fans. The resulting album sucked balls. Anyone surprised by that needs to stop drinking mercury smoothies and slit their own throats before they breed.

So now, three years later they decide to split due to the same personal conflicts as before. Holy ****, didn't see that one coming!

Shattered_Future
04-05-2008, 02:32 PM

Their song structures and music are seriously boring. I guess they could be called forerunners of their style, but there are countless other bands who do what they do much much better. Their contemporaries have completely eclipsed the group.

Both Therion and Nightwish tend to make me break out into laughter, but for different reasons. Nightwish because they're ridiculous and Tarja's voice was irritating, and Therion because it was just so unbelievably overthetop.

I think they use choral male vocals much better, plus they also have outstanding classical arrangements. And the music isn't dominated by one woman's gradually grating voice. The subject matter of Therion's songs is also more interesting to me, but that's hardly an objective point.

Lemuria and Sirius B, then. The first half of Sirius B gets rather cheesy, but I would think it's more like Rhapsody or Manowar cheesy than anything. I know what you mean if Lemuria is the specific album you're thinking of, though I still love it.

guess we will just have to agree to disagree lol. I love Marco's voice so much. It brings so much anger, passion, while being operatic as well. Obviously no song ever will have the classical arrangement that Poet and the Pendulum has in my eyes. Greatest song ever.

Sirius B/Lemuria were the first Therion albums (album? I dunno...stupid double thingy) I got. The songwriting was pretty good, if completely overly bombastic at times, but I think that album would be a lot better with a more exciting production. All the stuff is really dull...it could use some brightness.

Gothic Kabbalah, on the other hand, is a masterpiece.

In terms of loudness, everything is balanced well, but it all sounds so DULL. The guitars in particular need a lot more pop, more treble.

It's a pretty good album, actually. Sometimes I think the vocalist gets a bit too impressed with himself, though. At times it would have been nice to hear him lower in the mix, instead of in the forefront.

PoetandthePendulum
05-22-2008, 07:03 PM
If Daniel was taken away from the band, they would be pretty bland. His vocals add a layer to the music that makes it very appealing to me. I have to admit there are some catchy choruses and riffs as well. I just think it's a really good band.

Steerpike
05-22-2008, 07:32 PM
The sad thing is that Daniel doesn't seem to know how to utilize his own vocals as well as Wojtek did.

I hate comparing bands to their predecessors, but Heed have set themselves up so that it's hard to avoid.

Damn it, the albums wouldn't even be that bad if the production wasn't so bloody awful.

PoetandthePendulum
05-22-2008, 08:01 PM
I kind of disagree about that. Take the song Salvation for instance. At the end of it, Daniel hits an insanely high note for about 14 seconds. I honestly think Heed is better than people give them credit for.

So, Daniel, whom you previously said is what makes Heed better than average, hits a high note (with no help from the rest of the band) and that is evidence for the band themselves being better?

It doesn't make the actual musicians better, but it makes the experience much better. His vocals are still pretty crazy throughout the album and the band does play some good stuff too. I am not saying they are better than Lost Horizon, because they are not, but I am not comparing the two when I listen to Heed. I think of Heed as a new band that happens to have two former Lost Horizon members and they put out a hell of a debut.
