And yeah. i Got Angra's Aurora Consurgens and uhm. I'm disappointed in them.
Hah, that's exactly the reason I came in here. To say that it's out...or it leaked.
Either way, I'm getting it.

Just watched the love DVD for the second time and they are soooo great :D i love em... tbh. recently i love SA more than CoB ^^
I quite like Angra's new album.
Sonata Arctica have some pretty awesome stuff, but I'm not too impressed with their new album, not nearly enough double bass driven songs for my tastes.
Haha One of the guitar sales guys at work today asked me if I had heard Rhapsody on Fire. Ever since I played some folk/viking metal at work he thinks I'm big into power metal or something.

Well, everything else they've done outshines Triumph Or Agony. I'm personally partial to Legendary Tales, but Symphony Of Enchanted Lands (both 1 and 2) are great.
I like Symphony of Enchanted Lands 2 and Power of the Dragonflame the best.

HAHA! That was done by our old label boss (along with a guy called Neil Johnson) when we were at Metal Warriors! Those guys are working on a feature film right now, love it or hate it: http://www.metalwarriors.com
Just a heads up for you guys too, and I know there's a couple of Dungeon / LORD fans here, that we've uploaded some very rough early demos of the new LORD album if you want to check 'em out: http://www.myspace.com/lordaus (check out the Early Demo Teaser song in the music player)
It's only up 'til Midnight (Sydney Australia time) so be quick. Pretty rough stuff, but should give you an idea of what we'll be dishing up come August! Hope you like it! :)
I left a comment on your myspace too, but I'll here say it here as well. It sounds great, Tim. Your voice is still bloody awesome, and I can't wait for August now, definitely getting a copy of the album. :p Keep you eating steak for a bit longer, at least.

Definitely go for any of the older albums then. They thing is they've been repeating themselves too much since Atavism. Traveller was a huge step forward but instead of evolving this amazing new style of theirs they started going backwards, writing shallow and forced songs :'( Judging by their standards of course. Even the worse Slough Feg album sounds better than the majority of modern power/heavy metal out there.

That would be really good. Somewhere I've got a vid clip of me attempting to play Inferno. I've got the intro and main riff down, just not up to tempo. I can play along with it at about .7 speed in windows media. Any faster than that and my fingers end up tied in a knot.
I am gonna see 3 Inches of Blood in a couple weeks. They're supporting Behemoth. Should be a good show.

Heavenseeker is pretty freakin' terrible, I think. The songs aren't as good, and it's overproduced to the point where it makes everything sound godawful.
Cover art is bitchin' though.
Carsten's voice and Lorenz' drumming improved quite a bit on Heavenseeker, but yeah, in general the songs aren't as good. I think the reason the sound is so overproduced is because the band themselves had a huge say in the mixing of the album, and they really spent more time than is necessary tweaking it. Though I do enjoy the thrashier sound they came up with.

Do they have a castrati choir? I'm just throwing it out there because that would be truly awesome for a power metal band.
No, but they have the greatest power metal singer ever with Wails that destroy any type of choir imaginable.

There should be no best parts of bands. Only the final product, silly metal head.
Lost Horizon have a sick final product though. Too bads they won't be making another album with Daniel.

Just make metal references to everyone wherever you go. The next time someone asks me why I walk around in the cold in a T-shirt, I'm going to tell him that it's because of "the furnace of anti-Christian hatred that burns within me", give him a stiff Nazi salute, and then walk away with a scowl on my face, watching how he reacts in my peripheral vision.

I may be asking for trouble here, but what are some power metal bands thay you guys would consider to have good lyrics? I don't mean awesome, I mean good. For example, Rhapsody have awesome lyrics, but they don't really make sense and look like they could have been written by a 12 year old nerd. I think that Lost Horizon, Elvenking and sometimes Kamelot have good lyrics. Any others?
Shattered_Future

Sonata Arctica's lyrics got better on Reckoning Night and Unia, even if they are a bit emoish.
