If anyone cares, REVIVER has lost the lead singer Patrick von Maurik, and bassist Stefan Brederode. They decided it was too difficult to continue recording with the distance between the bandmembers and the birth of Patrick's new baby. It just couldn't work :(

Reviver has added Pieter Bas Borger from past Reviver demos and "Black Knight" into the lineup to replace the missing members.

Patrick and Stefan have rejoined Montany and they shall begin working on a new album soon!

I love both bands and hope both grow to be some of the best power metal out there. Montany has definitely released one of the best albums I own, New Born Day. I love Patrick's voice. takes some getting used to, but his accent makes the music, not breaks it.

Have any of you guys heard Brocas Helm? They sound like Slough Feg :o

I decided to rank my top 10 power metal vocalists.

1. Carsten Frank (Galloglass)
2. Lord Tim (Dungeon)
3. Daniel Heiman (Lost Horizon)
4. Karl Goebel (Falconer)
5. Niklas Isefeldt (Dream Evil)
6. Zak Stevens (Savatage)
7. Joakim Broden (Sabaton)
8. Hansi Kursch (Blind Guardian)
9. Jon Olivia (Savatage)
10. Fabio Lione (Rhapsody)

I'd give my right arm to sing like any of them. Or at least my left arm, so I could still hold the mic.

Nepenthe
07-22-2006, 06:50 PM
4. Karl Goebel (Falconer)

Glad to see a fellow Goebel lover. It seems as though everyone in the world prefers Blad.

Nepenthe

I don't think it matters what you look like if your in Falconer. As long as Karsten Larsson and his fro are sitting behind you, you don't look bad.

EDIT: It doesn't matter how embarassing your name is either, because your guitarist's name is Weinerhall. Falconer is just a nice band to be in if you're self conscious.

Yeah I'm a big fan of fantasy books. Probably my favorite series ever is the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. I just got into The Wheel Of Time series. There is a new Terry Brooks trilogy coming out starting this fall, but he only releases one book/year so rather than reading one then having to wait a year before I read the next one I just figured I'd start the Wheel of Time and read that until all of the new Terry Brooks trilogy is released.

I got the sampler. Thanks! I was getting ready to leave work when it got there though so I didn't get the music yet. I'll get it first thing in the morning when I go in.

My only problem with fantasy novels is that they've grown rather formulaic. Any of you ever read the webcomics ADVENTURERS! or RPG World? They parody to no end this very element in modern fantasy works (albeit from a video game perspective).

Unlikely heroes with unclear goals and good hearts end up encountering an evil presence and eventually end up discovering that they're part of an ancient prophecy to slay said evil. Throw in a token romantic sub-plot or two, some "side quests" and boom! You've got yourself a fantasy novel/video game/comic book.

Remember I mentioned those Urban Arcana songs I was writing?

I just found out that the writers of Farscape are working on an Urban Arcana TV series for the Sci-Fi Channel. Since it's still in pre-production, I'm not sure what to think.

Excellent, Terry Brooks is next in my list! For now I read Tolkien (<3), Martin, Erikson and Herbert (for sci fi).

Cheers Oro.

I'm not really into fantasy novels, at least, not the serious ones.

Orestes will love you now.

Why is that?

Because one of the members out of ABBA is named Björn.

I see, so Orestes is quite the ABBA fan, huh?

They're his favourite band.

OK, nothing wrong with that, but here in Sweden they are constantly played, so I have grown a little tired of their more famous songs.

You know, I can't believe I never post here. I love good power metal!

I'm listening to Rhapsody's demo. It's amazing to see even on a low-budget, they're pompous. Their old singer was really terrible. This song has pretty cool sweeps throughout.

____

NP: Holy Wind (Demo)

ps: They're Rhapsody. When they put out a new album, it will be a Rhapsody of Fire album. They will always be Rhapsody. Mighty, Mighty, Rhapsody!

You mean their old singer wasn't the almighty Fabio? It sounds almost like him...

Speaking of pompous, do you REALLY think they needed to put out 6 different versions of The Magic Of The Wizard's Dream?

Yeah, I can never understand the phrase "Cheesy" as it applies to music, not Brie, but those different versions are ...pointless.

Ooooo, look at me, I can sing in 4 different languages!

Pointless. Though Christopher Lee singing cracks me up every time.

Provolone and Mozzarella cheese ftw.

I don't suppose any of the new album has been leaked has it...? I've been looking for a little while now to no avail. Anyway, I read this from their site:

"Triumph Or Agony features a live 70 piece orchestra and choir and was again self-produced by guitarist/songwriter Luca Turilli and keyboardist/songwriter Alex Staropoli with assistance from co-producer Sascha Paeth. The album also features an array of guest narrators and character actors, including several recruits from the London theater scene, actress Susannah York of the Superman film series and a return appearance by renowned actor Christopher Lee, as the all knowing ‘Wizard King’."

NOT AGAIN! I hate the fact that they break from the music of Unholy Warcry to Lee's narrative section. The song is unbelievable up to that part.

It just wouldn't be Rhapsody enough without that part though.

Maybe it won't be narrating... he might be singing again

Then I wouldn't mind as much. Even though it's overdramatic, Lee has a decent voice.

He actually does, especially in the context of Rhapsody's songs it works quite well.

Cocaine, are you referring to the "Land of Immortals" demo released under the name "Thundercross", or the "Eternal Glory" demo released under "Rhapsody"? As far as I know, those are the only releases without Fabio on vocals.

Also.. how did you get a hold of the demo? :p :)

Rhapsody's old singer was Luca, I thought.

Gawdammit, Carsten and Dirk have left Galloglass. They've been replaced by Andrew McDermott of Threshold and Shaker Elmosa of Taraxacum. It's going to stuff up my favourite Power Metal band's dynamic, I just know it.

Man, Carsten left? He was one of the reasons why Galloglass was so good...
