So who here is a power metal vocalist? In these songwriting competitions I always lose points for my vocals. I got someone else to do vocals for me on the last one and hey, I came in first place. Only problem is I don't see him doing power metal for me...

Ollie is a vocalist.
Ollie is probably the best vocalist out of all of us, besides Tim. I do vocals too, and apparently so do all the others that are coming out of the woodwork.

Everyone thinks they can do vocals. Myself included. It's not until we recieve any criticism that we find out whether or not we're any good. Unfortunately, I have yet to recieve an ounce of criticism, so I have no friggin clue.

Maybe what I should be asking is, who would be willing to try vocals for a song that I write and also are you a lyricist too or should I write the lyrics? I actually recorded myself singing the last song I did and gave that version to the vocalist since I had ideas for the melody lines but I'm open to whatever contributions are offered :)

Just saw the Dragonforce reference, I don't much like there new Cd as much as Sonic Firestorm because all the songs pratically sound the same, atleast on Sonic Firestorm there was some difference, still bought it though, of course.
I think I'm the opposite to you guys, since I seem to prefer Stratovarious to Edguy, and that Destiny is my favourite Strat song.

So, I just found a leak of the new Sabaton. I'm a sucker, so I'm downloading it.
I'm waiting for the album, but with baited breath.
Tarot is great, I can't believe people are only just finding out about them. Same as Savatage, really.

Obtain, if you can, Wake Of Magellan or Hall Of The Mountain King. Check out the absolutely awesome reviews on Sputnik if you need more conviction.

Savatage is quite good. I should really get more of their stuff. I've got 4 albums, Edge Of Thorns, Hall Of The Mountain King, Handful Of Rain and Sirens, but I'd like to get more. I just never think of them for some reason.

I have Fight For The Rock, Hall Of The Mountain King, Dead Winter Dead and Wake Of Magellan. I really want to get Sirens or Edge Of Thorns next.

Sirens was way ahead of it's time IMO. Very solid album, heavy riffs, good stuff. And Edge Of Thorns is really good as well. Whichever album you pick up next you'll end up with a good purchase.

Its farily amusing a brit is compaling to an Aussie on the lack of gigs. Who would have thought.

Pffft. Western Canada has a horrible lack of shows by most (if not all) power metal bands. We get stuff like System of a Down and Disturbed once in a blue moon but never anything like Dragonforce or Kamelot & Epica. The closest they get is like Ontario. Nightwish (before they broke up) had a gig planned here with Sonata Arctica but they also cancelled it. I have the worst damn luck.
