While not a power metal band, Evergrey rock hard nonetheless. They're a band I'm really getting into...
From what I've heard of Galloglass, they rock. I should finish listening to LFNAN...
The song with the same title is awesome as well, due to the ridiculous amount of violin in it.
At the moment, I'm listening to The Immortal Ones by Primal Fear. Just discovered how good this song was today...hella catchy.

Oh yeah, I've been loving Evergrey recently as well. All I have is The Inner Circle and Monday Morning Apocalypse and I gotta say that The Inner Circle completley blew me away. His bluesy vocals and the meaningfull lyrics... it was delicious. MMA is good to, but it hasn't hit the same spot as TIC did. Maybe I just need to give it more time. I plan in trying to get some more soon.
Oh, and yes Galloglass kicks serious ***.

Damna is a terrific singer. Elvenking was my favorite band for about a year of my life. The singer on Wyrd is actually different than the one on Heathenreel, he is good, though not as good as Damna on Heathenreel.

Ya, I noticed he sounded different, but it was similar enough that i wasn't quite sure. Now that I listen more I can tell that the vocals on Heathenreel are a little better, but they're both good. Btw did they get another singer for The Winter Wake? Cause those vocals sound different to me, not nearly as good as Heathenreel.

Hmmm.. it seems like Damna changed his vocal style a bit for TWW. Maybe I just need to hear more, I only had a few samples from it and one or two full tracks. From what I've heard, Heathenreel is a much better performance.

Yeah, by no means is Kleid bad. I really like his voice actually. It irritates me when people call Wyrd inferior because of his vocals.
Overall, Heathenreel is a better performance than Winter Wake. I really like Damna's vocals on Heathenreel, but I like the actual music on Wyrd better. They did a good job of mixing the sound of Wyrd that I like and Damna's vocals, but it just doesn't quite beat Heathenreel.

That is a terrific cd. Ihsahn is truly a terrific artist. The Pain Is Still Mine and Astera Ton Proinon are my favorite tracks (probably because i like symphonic music). I wouldn't really compare it to power metal at all though.

Moondance I never really thought that good...one of the weaker tracks off of Oceanborn.
i actually thought Oceanborn was a pretty weak album all round (please dont hit me for that)
century child has recently become my favourite Nightwish album, due in large part to the cool bass riff after the guitar solo in 'end of all hope' and the pure awesomness that is 'dead to the world'

I honestly thought Century Child was their weakest album...it's got some killer songs, but there's a ridiculous amount of filler in it, IMO, much like Wishmaster. However, the moments in Wishmaster more than make up for the filler moments, while the moments in Century Child do not.
I maintain Oceanborn is still the best album the group has put out.

Gamma Ray's Somewhere Out in Space was the first power metal disc I bought. I loved Kai from that moment on. But I have to admit, I like Gamma Ray with Ralf on vocals much better. The music is far more unpredictable, versatile, and energetic. While the new Gamma Ray is very strong, the older had a much more personal feel, not so structured. For instance, you don't have any songs that feel like Money, or Changes, or Lust for Life, on any of the new albums. They just don't exist. While the new stuff is good, it's just much more basic in format. Still hasn't stopped me from buying every album :)

Legends is great and I just ordered Heavenseeker. It appears that no one has reviewed either album... What should I expect?
I'm reviewing both albums now, but I've been busy with Uni.
Heavenseeker is much heavier. It's quite good, since Galloglass have maintained their melodic folk core, but have added far more depth to the music. Though a number of songs on Legends... are my favourite, Heavenseeker is what I consider to be the best album, overall.
Could you send those songs my way? eddiesminion@gmail.com

WOw, I didn't realize how good Dream Evil was. I first heard The Book of Heavy Metal and it is so incredibly cheesey but I just listened to Evilized and it kicks serious ***! There is the cheese moment:
"I am so ****in metal and so is my wife
I am his wife... Shut up!"
But it's not full of corny songs like TBoHM. Are their other albums more like Evilized or more like The Book of Heavy Metal?
They have three to my knowledge.
Evilized, their second release, is sort of the least cheesy. Dragonslayer is down and out heavy cheesiness, whereas The Book Of Heavy Metal is fun cheesiness. It's which type you like the best. Have you heard all of The Book Of Heavy Metal? A lot of it is in a similar vein to Evilized.
Also, Dragonslayer has HMJ on it, which is their most kickarse song.

i love Evilized. Made of Metal is so great :) the lyrics MetalOz put in are the best bit :p
a lot of bands say they play one kind of music, even though they can be classified under other genres. for example, HammerFall say they only play Heavy Metal, even though i would definitely classify them as Power Metal.

Bruce's stuff is great, but like Deth said, the riffs are nothing like Maiden. I have Chemical Wedding and Tyranny of Souls and both are very good if you like the sound of Bruce's voice. To me, without his voice the music would really be nothing though.
Hellfire Club pwns. i really like Rise of the Morning Glory, The Piper Never Dies, and We Don't Need A Hero, although Down to the Devil is also awesome.

Hmm, I thought it was only games and stuff like that. I never saw cd's there...
Maybe he meant because EB resell games that customers have returned for cheaper. I've gotten some bargains that way.

I've traded stuff in there before...
Most of the stuff works just fine, and you can't argue the prices...though the selection is a bit lacking, as said above.
I've found some awesome stuff I don't really want to pay full price for though...some different punk albums, AC/DC's live album, other junk. Even saw The Angel And The Dark River by My Dying Bride there once. That one sent me for a loop...

I've never seen CDs at EB, but I've got some great bargains from a used CD/DVD/Games place here.
Ghoul - Maniaxe for $10
Iron Maiden - 7th Son for $15
Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic 2 for $35.
Please note that these are Australian prices. God I get annoyed when people assume I'm talking in US $$. Locations are there for a reason.
So is that like US dollars or something?
I can't believe you didn't own 7th son till now.

I was expecting that :p
Listened to Green Face before...and I don't see what you don't liek about that song :-/
NP Iced Earth - Hollow Man
If you ask me Maiden has some good songs and an amazing vocalist, but a lot of their songs I find to be quite average. That's why I only have their best of albums.

I would like to see them live, though. I almost bought a ticket to one their shows in Gothenburg, but they were sold out in no time, so no ticket for me.
At least I get to see Blind Guardian in September.

Power metal?
Without Maiden, there would be no such genre

To Hope Eternal: I would go see Blind Guardian over Maiden any day.
Although, I do want to see Maiden live one day.

This is why we can't allow metal to become popular. OVERBLOW IT SO WE GET TO GO TO ALL THE SHOWS!!!

I don't dispute that, but I don't like all power metal, either. Helloween were pioneers of the genre, but I don't think they are anything special. Sure, they have some good songs, but most of those are from their early era.

Sorry, but can you explain what you mean :p

We have to make people hate it even more than they already do, so the bands become less popular. Then, WE CAN GET ALL THE TICKETS! MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Helloween is a bit lame...there's a few gems here and there, but they're WAY too simplistic for my tastes.

Oh...
*gets children away from crazy man*
:p I'm kidding
But Australia isn't getting any shows anyway, so what happens when people hat e metal? :(
Hmm, I really love Helloween, I have their discography apart from their latest album, Keeper of The Seven Keys - The Legacy. Is it any good?
