I'm currently working on a power tab version of 'Acid Rain' by Liquid Tension Experiment and when it's done I'll need some input on it, so theres another point tot his thread.

Ummm.... pressed the attatchment you gave me, and normally it opens up just fine, but on this one it says i have to save it first, and then open it, so i saved it to microsoft word, opened it and it came out as all of these messed up numbers and letters. can you tell me how to open it? or put it in a different format so that i can open it easier?

This is SUPER IMPORTANT!

I need somebody to tab (In Power Tab/Guitar Pro) the opening bass line for Disposition by Tool. I've been trying for th last week and I haven't been able to get it.

IF the time sig. is n/4, then the tempo is around 110, or so. But, I'm not entirely sure that the Time Signature is a Quarter note sig.

ANY help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I'm starting to do a project. I want to tab (on Power Tab) Disposition, Reflection, and Triad by Tool.

the begining part of disposition is guitar playing harmonics and the bass is just doin (i think) some stuff around E-D-E-B(9th frett on guitar's low D) i forgot what note it is i think its a B. go to http://tooltabs.net if u havent already....i dont know what the tempo is or time sig but if i figure it out ill let u know....hey one u get those songs done let me know id love to get a hold of emm.

No, you're wrong....the majority of the sound you hear in the intro to Disposition, IS bass....it's doing alot of harmonics with delay.

I've already gotten this whole mess figured out so consider my previous inquiry Void.

Do you have Power Tab? If you don't, look on this very page and you'll see a link to download it from.

To Jimmy: Not yet....not yet. I've kind of slacked on it recently so i have nothing more than up to the part of Disposition where the verse starts...y'know, with the volume swells. I'll post it when I get to....later.

Open the attachment and tell me which Bass sounds more right. Bass 1 is how it's tabbed on mostly every site and Bass 2 was from this one tab I found somewhere. I need to know which one to use cause I'm stuck.

Ok I downloaded Power tab and when I clicke don Lepper Messiar from the Program it said there are no viewers registered to look at this file. I clicked Ok anyways and all this ****y language came up with a buch of squares and numbers. help?

Assuming you're running a Windows 95/98 machine:

Go to the Start Menu --> Settings --> Folder Options

From there, hit the tab labeled "File Types."
In the list, look for something that says "Power Tab Score" or "PTB File." Highlight it and hit "Edit"

In the "Edit File Type" box that comes up, look in the box marked "Actions." There should be something that says "Open" (it might be in bold text). Highlight it and hit "Edit." In the field that says "Application used to perform action:," make sure that it's set to the right program, the PowerTab Editor (for me, it's C:\Program Files\PT Software\PT Editor\PTEditor.exe).

You change your midi settings, that could be the problem. It worked for me.

I have tried that. I have sound blaster live. When i try to apply that, the voice volume (on the midi setup page) and the iumstrument volume are both 0. I have tried to edit them, but it doesn't work. I'll try again late to edit them, but i doubt it will work.

Does guitar pro start to open when that happens?

Because if it does, it has something to do with memory. Try closing a few other programs you have open and try again.

I get the same error. It says "File Serialization Error: File Has A Bad Format". Does anyone have any idea what's wrong?

As to everyone that's getting the bad format message:

Make sure you have WinZIP or WinRAR or something that can unzip .zip files. I'de attach just the Power Tabs but the site doesn't allow it, so I have to put them in zip files. The actualy Power Tabs are working for me.:confused: I dunno what else to suggest. Sorry guys :(

Anyone who is having the Bad Format error, it is probably because you have an older version of it. If you download Power Tabs from the link Biohazard posted it will work fine!!!

Does anybody wanna do a drum tab for eulogy on Power Tab? I've got all of the guitar and bass tabbed out so far.

I don't know how to insert drum tabs into PT except to use the 'Synth Drum' MIDI patch and use that in the bass score, but that sounds like ****. Does anybody know how to get GP type drum tab into PT?

I did find it for Guitar Pro if that helps at all. You might be able to import it as a midi or something. I don't know.

the woodblock patch (its about #120?) for power tab, since the drum channel (10) isnt supported.
theres a midi out there that uses something on the drum channel.

If you go up in 'frets' or whatever, does the pitch change? I've fiddled with it but I only sampled an open high e and it wasn't 'clinky' enough, if you know what I mean.

Actually, the intro would be super hard to tab on Power Tab cause it uses fully chromatic harmonics and you can only tab half-step (single fret) harmonics on PT.

If you want, I could skimp out on the intro and do the rest of the song.

It was mostly the intro i was interested in, I could never find a tab that explained it so I could get it. If you wouldn't mind, an explaination of the intro and a power tab of the rest would be amazing.

The Intro to Suite-Pee:

-Place your finger over the 5th fret on the G string, in the manner of harmonic (don't fret the note, just place your finger on the string)

-Tremolo pick (pick really, really fast) the string

-Slide the finger that is placed over the 5th fret down somewhat slowly until your finger reaches about half-way through 2nd fret (usually reffered to as 2.6)

-Do this on the following strings: G, D, A, D Then repeat.

Hope this makes sense.

I tabbed the intro, just because things like not having the full song and such really gets on my nerves...I'm crazy, I tell ya.

It may not sound good, but it'll give you the jist of how the intro is played. The rest of the song is perfect (except maybe the outro, but meh)

Lost Prophets - Shinobi Vs. Dragon Ninja
I Tabbed this out For Three Guitars (one is jsut for the clean parts, band actually plays two i think) and 1 bass.
some of song may sound too fast, or may not be too smooth, but it's nothing bad enough to really bitch about, except maybe for the ending which doesnt go too smooth and is supposed to be palm muted. otherwise, song is PERFECT. i personally give it a 90 out of 100.
can someone please edit this tab so that it will have less of them red highlights over the bars? The song runs perfectly fine, but those red bars suggest imperfections.

update: fixed tunings. and the tab iS NOT 100% complete, because i've skipped the dj's solo.

Ok, I been working on this today. Unfortunatley, its only 24 bars long due to me on having the demo version of Guitar Pro but whatever (If youve got a WORKING crack for it, shout me holla ;) ). Ill try to make another version and cramp it down as much as possible to fit the whole song in but for now this'll do. BTW if you've downloaded any of the other versions from www.Mysongbook.com, this version is better as they're all wrong and im sure this is 99.9999'% correct :D SAFE!

what do you mean? In Guitar Pro/ Power Tab? You know where the strings are right, and what their names are, right? so, I think you already know about picking the right string and pushing the number keys to indicate the fret. Are you ahving problems with time signatures and note lengths and thigns like that? To make yoru tab sound right, you don't pick just the right frets for the different strings, you also have to pick the right note length, and you knwo what they are right? You know, whole notes, half notes, quarter ntoes, eighteenth notes, etc. i think you can easily figure out how long each is. whole = 4 beats, half = 2 beats, quarter = 1 beat, eighht = half a beat. it's common sense after a while that each note is half of the previous note and twice the size of the next. 4-2-1

if time signatures are yer problem, 4
4 simply means four beats to a measure, so each measure is four beats long. This signature is the most commonly used one, so leave it alone when you tab out yer song.

Aerials is finally finished. I think it's pretty good, except for the vocals....that's why they're turned off. They sound almost, out of tune. But everything else, excluding the drums, are in it so I hope you enjoy!

The only full score I've ever transcribed without any help what-so-ever was Ever and a Day and I was so lucky.

Export the GP to MIDI then go into Power Tab and import the midi. It won't be the exact same but if you touch it up a little here and there then it's groovy.

Make sure you have the newest version of Power Tab....Like 1.7 I think it is.

Then if that is all good and dandy, try playing with you're MIDI settings. Mine crashes if the slides are on. I turn them off and all is well.

make sure your midi output levels are up and that you are using the right midi source

now go into the MIDI thing on the top bar on powertabs when your in the editor. now go in their and make sure you are using the right midi driver.

if one doesnt work, try the other one.

i just noticed something wrong with my powertab editor, when a bend or slide some up in a song, the note just stays the same.

like if it goes ----7/9--- in a song, it will only ring out the 7

Try adjusting that Pitch Wheel thinger in the MIDI settings. Otherwise just turn the "Use Pitch Wheel to do shift/legato slides" option off.

The same thing happens with me. I was trying to finish up Biohazard's tab for Acoustic Medley(a song that relies on slides), and it just wasn't working. Maybe Bio knows, he knows more about Power Tab than I do.

So how don't they work? Do they not sound or do they sound funky and off tone?

There's the pitches first thing. They represent the pitch being sounded after the harmonic not before. If the AHs sound off-tone then try adjusting the pitches. Most pinch harmonics are the same pitch as the pre-harmoniced note but an octave or two higher. 'loco' means same pitch (more or less), '8ma' means one actave up and '15ma means 2 octaves up.

Why is it that when I go into the "Gtr. In" window, it says "Simulate 12 String", but it won't let me click it. Suggestions?

I think it was meant to be a part of the program but it never made it into the final version. To make a 12-string sound just make another guitar with all strings except the high E and B up 1 whole octave. Then in all passages that are supposed to be on a 12 string jus put in both the normally tunned guitar and the up-tuned guitar. VIOLA! you now have a 12-stringed guitar in your score.

It's alright. It would be better if there were chord names and accent marks and the such. Also, change the tunings for the guitars. It should be dropped C, not standard 1 step down.

Also, in place of the Bb power chord (first chord played) try an Ebsus2 chord (just add 3's onto the low E string). Sounds much better.
