Overview:
Everclear's first major label album is an album filled with melodical and catchy riffs and lyrics that dont get boring after a year of listening. The album is of its own kind, country elements and other unique styles and element's are heard throughout the album's tracks. While Art Alexakis' unique voice is singing tales of a broken life and other stories of his depression struggles and even happieness, a shiver is sent down your spine listening to the music in the background, thats how great it is.

Electra Made Me Blind:
A Great opener, the song sets the pace for the album and makes you want to start jamming. The song has catchy riff's and a great solo towards the ending.
5/5

Heroin Girl:
The song starts with a quieter melody but then it blast off into a heavyier song. The song is about as heavy as the album gets and with art yelling through his grung'y guitar's wails, he then goes into a solo and end's the song leaving you with a strange feeling.
5/5

You Make me feel like a whore:
It starts with heavy riff's and then an almost eerie riff that gives you a chill, then it goes into another heavy riff that you feel like singing to, the guitar goes off on a fast head banging solo and then your left with Art yelling "You make me feel like a whore". After the song those lyrics echo through your head.
5/5

Santa Monica:
The whole song is a masterpeice, you feel calmed and relaxed even though their is heavy parts in the song. the unique riffs almost float in your head and you want to keep listening to the song. The song, even if it does loose a bit of its touch after a while it never gets boring. I also have to comment on the solo's at almost the end of every riff which alone, make you want to start playing the guitar if you dont already.
5/5

Summerland:
The whole song is very depressing the guitar has a great almost country style to it and you really feel down after listening to the song. The song goes on for a long time and has some very unique guitar parts. The solo keeps echoing through the end of the song and reminds you of a more depressing life.
4.5/5

Strawberry:
The whole song is about drugs, and it is catchy. The chords are put together well but it almost seemed like it was rushed since the song doesnt have any solo, its just chords.
4/5

Heartspark Dollarsign:
The song has the greatest guitar parts I have heard in any song. Unlike the rest of the song Heart Spark Dollar Sign is a happy and poppy song. But its not pop its still something you could band your head to. The tale about racism makes you feel better and the poppy riffs and Arts voice make the song even more of a masterpeice. One of the best song's of the 90's.
5/5

The Twistinside:
This song is really two song's its a heavy grunge style song while also a country/rock song. The first half seems to have some really cool old style country element's. Then after you thought the song was over it goes into a heavy solo for about two minutes (Its my favoritesolo of all time).
5/5

Her Brand New Skin:
Is a great rock song that somewhat lacks what some of the other song's had.
In any case its a great addition to the album.
4/5

Nehalem:
This song has its own style its a very dark song. It really shows the darker side of Everclear.
4.5/5

Queen Of The Air:
This song send's a chill down my spine every time I listen. The guitar has some really cool and unique riffs that have a sound that is only unique to everclear. The end of the song has a very cool Acoustic solo.
5/5

Pale Green Stars:
This song makes me want to cry every time I hear it the acoustic elements and the electrifying solo that is in this song help to make the story of the broken home Art's daughter has to live in and how hes leaving his daughter. The song is melodic and very sad.
5/5

Chemical Smile:
This song is a fast, but short an almost boppy song that isnt bad but isnt perfect. It still has a unique stlye.
4/5

My Sexual Life:
Its a great closing song the hollow riffs that seem to add a sad element to the song make it a masterpeice.
5/5

Overall:
5/5 :amaze:

I used to be a big Everclear fan, this was and still is my favorite album by them. The best songs on this album are Herion Girl, Heartspark Dollarsign, Strawberry, and You Make Me Feel Like A Whore. Nice review you though, I think you were a little kind on the ratings though. Overall this album is decent it can be dense and generic at times with alot of drug refrences. I would have giving it a 3/5. It's good, but not exceptional.

Well I guess some people have different ways of thinking about the album. In my mind I have yet to hear an album that is as good as Sparkle and Fade. But thanks for the input. I actualy liked World of Noise more than SaF.

The first time I heard SaF it was good the song's I heard before were good but the rest I didn't even think of. You have to listen to SaF a couple of time's for the song;s to get good. Every time I listen to it each song gets better. I read lots of online review's. Every review I have read gave it 5 stars except a few.

Yeah practically everyone I know that has listened to either Sparkle and Fade or So Much For The Afterglow loves them. They would have sold as much as Nirvana if Capitol actualy supported them.

This, and "So Much For The Afterglow" were Everclears best records.....after that, they sold out big, and really weren't the same to me...

This song was all about being poor, drugged up and ****ed up.....in such a nice way
