Review:

Flight 801 (All I've Got Is Time) - Starts out with kind of sad, and at the same time happy, sounding riff, and a few bass notes. And there's the cool noise in the background, but I can't tell what it is. Then the singing and palm muted power chords come in. Will's voice isn't too different from most pop-punk or emo acts, but still pretty good. The chorus is a nice sing-along part. "Another time might you crazy, but that's all I've got is time." Listening to this one day, I realized how bad the grammar is there, heh. One of my favorite lines ever in punk music is in this song: "this life, it teaches me of many things, like disbelief, and trusting in dishonesty." I find most of the lyrics in this cd to be more intellectual than most punk acts. (Which is why I actually own this cd.) The music isn't too different than most punk though. But this song is good; it seems to mainly about looking back on life and getting where you want to be. There's a little power chord based solo in there too. 10/10

Minimum Wage - This is your typical punk, "let's screw the government and jobs...plus some aliens" type song. Starts out with some of the fastest singing on the album and some palm muting. Then the rest comes and goes through a verse and straight into the chorus. The music pretty much stays like the rest of the way through. There's a part in the lyrics that is strached out in the song. "Give me a gun, let's go get the XXX, he wouldn't mind, it's protected by the aliens." If you listen to it, it sounds like the word, "president." It most likely is. There's another solo type thing (power chord deal again). It's to sing along with, but not the best song. It gets stuck in my head a lot. 7/10

Surf Song - Starts with power chords and then gets into the verse, where they're palm muted. This is song about how he wishes he could surf. It's a pretty fun song, nice sing-along type chorus again. "I wish that I was cool, I wish that I was surfin'." Then there's a slower bridge in there too. And another solo type thing, but this one is a little riff repeated over and over. He also mentions the movie Point Blank in there too. 7/10

All My Fault - Starts out with muted power chords and the plays a note and pauses, then plays a note and pauses, so on. He starts singing after a few seconds. Typical break-up song. Most people I know love this song; I can't stand it. The lyrics are kind of repetitive...well, they are. And the music is quite cliche. Most of the music on here are, but most songs have the lyrics to make up for them. In my opinion, this one doesn't. It's not a horrible song, I just don't like it. And it is definately not the best song on the cd. I believe it's on Dave Mirra's Pro BMX 2, which is the reason I bought this in the first place. The song is pretty cool at first, but listening to it over and over, it gets old really fast. The chorus is a nice sing-along deal too. I guess that part's all right. Good for when you just get dumped. 6/10

Jolly Green Dumbass - More power chords to start. The bass in the verse is kind of cool. It spikes up in there every now and then. I find the song to be typical as well. Another break-up song, but I like this one even less than the one before. The playing style in the verse is different than the other songs. The rest is pretty similar. One my least favorite songs on the cd. I never listen to it. I find the chorus lyrics to be nice though. "You always kick and scream so hard, what can I do to calm you down." People with violent girlfriends can relate to this then, heh. 6/10

G.B.O.H. - Now, after the last four songs, which I don't think are incredibly great, there's this one. I probably don't like them because I just need to lighten up. More palm muting at the start, and the one note played, pause and another note thing is there too. Then he starts singing too. This song is about the girl's father catching them fooling around in her bedroom, and they want to kill him. The singing style at the beginning is kind of sloppy and I find it to be kind of annoying, but it's fine. The only song on the whole cd that contains the f-word. I was glad to find that there is very minimum cussing on this cd. They also mention Judas Priest in this song. "The baseball bat called to me like a drug, 'breaking the law, breaking the law,' I'm gonna kill your mother's f-cker with a Louisville Slugger." The song stand for "Gangster Bitches On Herione," by the way. Pretty good song. 8/10

Ben - The song fades in and goes into the power chords, and then there's a higher pitched one laid on top of those. I really love this song, because I relate to most of it. The first lyrics are, "Ask me a question and I'll tell you all I know, you ask for my advice and then you take a different road." I think this song might be about his friend commiting suicide. It could be applied to that situation. Although, I've never had a friend that has, I have of a bunch of friends that cut themselves; this song is about trying to save someone, and I can't save them. Chorus bit: "How could I have ever saved you, the only thing I'd ever done was care." After another verse and chorus, there's another power chord solo thing. And the part right after that is the most hardcore point on the album. It's not death metal or anything, (this is a pop punk band) but it has a lot of power in the instruments there. I listen to this one all the time. 10/10

Speechless - One of the saddest songs on the cd. Starts with palm muting and Will singing really soft and quiet. "I never said anything to hurt you, it's what I didn't say that made you cry." How true. How many things in a relationship are ruined by not saying something? A lot. After the quiet part, the rest comes in with power chords, of course. Then the palm muting for the verse, just with the rest of the instruments, the lyrics are repeated as well. The the chorus has some nice overlapping vocals. Really fun to sing along with. They sing the words longer than they do for most of the songs. There's a small bridge with a drum and bass solo and some quiet singing. Then with everything playing and the holding the notes again for the words. And another chorus. Another geat song. 10/10

Philosophy - Yet again, power chords to start. And then the they stop for a second while he starts to sing and then they kick back in. The lyrics are pretty simple on this one. It follows the "verse-chorus-verse-chorus" structure of most punk songs, and like most on this cd. Like the song before, the chorus has some nice singing with the back up vocals. "Every now and then, they'll come a time, when you are lost in your own mind, and then you'll understand, why we were put here on this earth, why nothing good can last." Pretty good song, I just don't listen to it a lot. 8/10

No Lie - Nice, fast start out. Then there's a quick bass solo, and more of the intro. Then verse. The lyrics in this song are pretty cool. "'Take a chance on me,' she said, 'I'll be here for a while,' I should've seen the lies right through her smile." Just as the last few songs, the chorus is a nice sing-along with the collected voices of the group. "Why didn't I lie to you." That's all it is for the chorus. Very short in the lyric area, but I still love this song. 10/10

Apple Pie Cowboy Toothpaste - Nice, pounding intro. Then it all stops for a short palm muted riff. Then everything comes back in. The verse is pretty cool. Will sings the first and third lines, and the band repeats them. "But if she won't give up, that's okay, I never liked that drunk -ss bitch anyway." The chorus has the cool sing-along thing again, like the last five songs. "When she does, it's on, there she goes, she's pissin' on my floor." Heh. The longest song on the cd, but definately one of the best. Most of this song is somewhat serious sounding, except the "Hi-fi Hard Core Supa-Dupa Fly Gangsta Rap." Heh. It has a drum and bass solo there. The rap is so nerdy that it's not even funny...but then it is funny...because it's a nerd rap. But somehow, the rap doesn't clash with the rest of the song. When it gets back into the song part, you seem to forget about the rap, and take the song seriously again. I love this song. 10/10

Jean Claude Trans Am - Another one of my least favorite songs. Starts with some power chords and then goes into the simplistic lyric filled verse. And the whole song is about him wanting to have sex with this girl. I find this song to be rather boring, and I can't relate to it. I'm glad it's short. I think the chorus is okay though. 7/10

Rooster Song - By far, the worst and most stupid song on the whole album. The song is about eating a chicken or something, but it's obvious they're singing about sex. "I've got a big ****, a big **** for your mouth." Yep. Obviously. I hate this song with a passion. I hate when somewhat serious punk bands have an extremely nasty or "funny" bonus track or ending song. It annoys the hell out of me. I never listen to this song, ever. Some of you people may like it, and think it's funny, but I just can't stand it. The music isn't much to speak of either. The cd would be just fine without it. 3/10

Other things:

Dispite the use of power chords, I find this band to be very different than most punk bands. It just seems to sound a little different. It has some fun songs, and some very sad songs. I'll listen to this cd until the day I die. Too bad they broke up. I would recomend this to anyone that listens to punk, and anyone one else that would have an open mind. I loathe most punk, but I love this cd. 4/5

I never said anything to hurt you
It was what I didn't say that made you cry
In all honesty, I never would have deserted you
I never dreamt that you would say goodbye

You know you can edit that bottom post into your top post?

Anyway heard four or five songs off this album. I don't like the sound of them as much as Lechuza but there are good songs here. Ben and All My Fault are favs. Nice review with alot of details. Good work.

No, the reason it's two posts is because I type too much and I couldn't fit it in. If you look at my Iron Maiden - Rock In Rio one, you will also see that, but if you look at my other ones, it is in the top post. But thank you for the heads up anyway!

please remember to put the album's name on the title even if it's self titled on future reviews please.
