Review:
I picked up the Vendetta Red CD at random at a local Borders. I had not heard one of their songs and did not even know what style of music they were. When I got home I popped the CD into my computer and loaded the video for the single "Shatterday." The enhanced CD had a dark theme to it so I prepared myself for some pretty hard music. I was surprised when I heard "Shatterday's" soft guitar intro and soft vocals. The next day I listened to the whole CD and was quite impressed. I started with the soft, melodic "There Only Is" and about half way through the song I was jolted by Zach's high pitched scream. So the music had a little edge, I thought. The next track was the haunting "Stay Home." Filled with Zach's high pitched scream and his haunting lyrics about child abuse, it's a powerful song. Zach's voice had an incredible range and his screams were one of the weirdest screams I had ever heard. The CD continues with the upbeat "Opiate Summer." Next is the spacy, soft "Seconds Away," followed by the single "Shatterday." Next, another spacy track "Accident Sex." Next is "Caught You Like A Cold," a darker song with a killer bass intro. The song ends with Zach and the guitarist doing a back and forth scream. Another spacy track "Suicide Party," then its the haunting "Lipstick Tourniquet" which in the outro 4 different screams are playing and it sounds as if they are all dying. The screams end when Zach screams "F*cking F*cker!" "Ambulance Chaser" is a great emo song with great lyrics. "Por Vida" is next, a bit repetitive but still good. The CD concludes with the six minute track "P.S. Love the Black" which starts out very spacy but ends with a awesome bass riff and a back and forth scream part which is quite amusing.
After having the CD all this time, it's still just as enjoyable and I listen t it very frequently. It never seems to get old and Vendetta Red is an amazing band who deserves more time in the spotlight.
