Legacy Of Brutality is a variety of rarities and outtakes, including portions of the band's unreleased 1978 album, Static Age. Static Age wasn't released until years later in 95'. This album features some songs that are on Static Age, but this album is raw and some say it is a bad recording compared to Static Age, this is something I don’t hear. I prefer this album over any Misfits album. The bad quality gives this album the feel it needs.

Danzig released this album on his own, and overdubbed most of the bass and guitars on his own. I don’t know specifically which tracks he plays on.

Vocals - Glen Danzig
Guitar - Doyle
Bass - Jerry Only
Drums - ?

Track Listing:

01. Static Age
02. Hybrid Moments
03. Spinal Remains
04. Come back
05. Some Kinda Hate
06. Theme For The Jackal
07. Angel ****
08. Who Killed Marilyn
09. Where Eagles Dare
10. She
11. Halloween
12. American Nightmare

Static Age:

A slower song of the album, very dark and mystifying. The music is quite simple and repetitive, the lyrics are great the line "This is the static age we live in, Our eyes criss-cross, hold and gaze, This is the static age we live in" is a prefect line to portray the song. Overall the song fits nicely together with the vocals. 3/5

T.V Casualty:

This song features the same music as "Static Age" just a little jumpier. The meaning of the lyrics are basically the same, but the song goes more in depth with the lyrics. With the corruption of the TV. My favorite line from the song is "I wish they'd put Prince Namor on the tube, Hold on, I think I have to puke, There's a spot in the corner where I always go, I like to feed the flies that I know." Overall the song is a better version of static age, the song also features the theme from "I Love Lucy!" You gotta love that. 5/5

Hybrid Moments:

A faster song, which is one of my favorite Misfits songs, I love brash melody to Danzig's voice in this song. 5/5

Spinal Remains:

This is a faster song, which shows The Misfits more hard-core side. The song has great vocals and a cool chorus, they use alot of different types of feed back in the song which works out great. A very dark and morbid song, well what song by the Misfits isn't? 3/5

Come Back:

The drum beat, as an intro is a really pleasant surprise, one of the slower songs. Danzig really shows his voice range on this one, overall the song has it's points, but can be a little boring. 2/5

Some Kinda Hate:

This is my all time favorite Misfits song I never get tired of hearing this song. They really show there range with this song, it has a medium style beat, but very catchy. This song features of the greatest guitar solos in my opinion, it
isn't much, but it is genius. I Love the lyrics "There's some kinda love, And there is some kinda hate, I'm gonna tell you all about it now, The maggots in the eye of love won't copulate". Overall this song is pure genius! 5/5

Theme For A Jackal:

You don't hear many punk songs like this one, it features a piano. It's a smooth song with bluesy style riffs, and a Danzig’s echoing voice. 4/5

Angel ****:

I love this Misfits song, it does have a very explicit title. The song has a very weird sound with very strange lyrics that aren't there best. Overall the song has a great sound and Danzig’s voice blows me away. 4/5

Who Killed Marilyn:

This is a song about how Marilyn Kennedy died, the song has great lyrics with a nice beat. The song slows down then speeds up with a weird part in the middle of the song. Overall the song is pretty good, with some really good hooks. 4/5

Where Eagles Dare:

This is another one of my favorite Misfits songs. It's hard to tell exactly what the lyrics area about but I love the line "I ain't no goddamn son of a bitch, You better think about it baby, I ain't no goddamn son of a bitch, You better think about it baby, babe". Overall the songs has a great beat that grabs you in from the beginning. 5/5

She:

This is one of the best Misfits songs ever, the guitars are a blaze the song is amazing. What I can tell about the lyrics, its about a girl that is supposedly good, but she is actually really bad and rebellious. Overall the song is great with a good story line, I am going to post the lyrics so you can get what I mean, by the lyrics. 5/5

She walked out with empty arms
Machine gun in her hand
She is good and she is bad
No one understands

She walked in in silence
Never spoke a word
She's got a rich daddy
She's her daddy's girl

She loves naked sin
He loves evil sex
She has lost control
They are growing old

She will hide in silence
Then her day will come
She was virgin vixen
She is on the run
She is on the run
She is on the run

Halloween:

I personally like this one better then Halloween II. The song is very dark with great lyrics and choice for words, basically about Halloween. Overall its a great song with some hooks and and a basic drum beat. 5/5

American Nightmare:

If Elvis were punk, this would be his it. Danzig sounds identical to Elvis on this song, if Elvis wasn't dead before this song was released I think he would have died of heart failure. Overall this song is great, you can really see the effect Elvis had on The Misfits, but this song just show obsession. 5/5

Overall:

Legacy Of Brutality is a morbid album with raw guitars, pounding drums & powerful vocals, The Misftis are at their best with this album. Personally I think 'Some Kinda Hate' shows their range & is probably the most unique Misfits song.

Punk Listeners = 5/5
Non Listeners = 3/5

Great review.
This album should have more songs, since their songs are very short. I did my own greatest hits album with kazaa. My cd has 40 misfits songs.
