Has anyone heard this song, and the bass line in it?

Mos Def is one of my fav emcees, and this song is off his first CD "Black on both sides" I know for a fact that he actually plays bass on this song, and its not Synth.

Its a really smooth bassline that has some funk elements, and sounds like it would be fun to play. But for the life of me i cant seem to figure out what he plays... can some one help me?

Funny you should say that, cuz i JUST watched Rush in Rio and noticed him playing it on a 4 string Jazz Bass....strange cuz the Tab on MX says its played on a 5 string.

Either way, i tired learning it off the tab and it doesnt sound even nearly right to me, perhaps its cuz he's using an effect of some sort. I really, REALLY wanna learn that song though, it's my favourite Rush song...

that takes time and people want to learn to play the music they love now, not in 3 or 4 months when they're better at transcribing by ear.

I'm looking for pretty technical, difficult songs. I'm not talking as hard as Victor Wooten, which I am trying to learn Classical Thump...so far so good, but I'm gonna have my teacher teach me some tapping. Anyway I'm looking for some good **** to play, something that is pretty fast with slaps and pops. I've found that metal bores me, and most reggae is either slow, or easy. But if anyone can reccommend some good songs, I would greatly appreciate it.

The bass is the simplest part of the song, so you don't have to be a pro to do this one, just listen to the song. I have never transcribed a tab before or learned to play a song by ear so I can't do it myself.

figure it out yourself, follow the chords in the song. at the end of the verses you just ascend the scale and in the chorus you alternate the root note of the chord with it's 5th below it.
