I think it goes something like 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-234 but instead of 1,2,3,4 I don't know what the actual notes are for them, but that's like the rhythm I guess.

i went the no teacher route myself. great to have the bass playing for dummies book. teaches u all the minor and major scale patterns u'll ever need to know. many basic things u'll want to learn. it'll teach more than just to play it, some basic bass adjustments that u'll need to know how to do urself. oh and keep them fingers spaced well. 1st fret 1st finger 2nd fret 2nd finger3rd fret 3rd finger 4th fret 4th finger. there are plenty of other books to help you out available for you, amazon.com is great for em. ooh and if u want to get flashy find the jim lee music double thump email video thing off of ebay. oh heres the link to his website http://www.jimleemusic.com/
