Who they sound like
They are on a level all there own.. but they kind of remind me of The Monks.

o Label: Caroline

(Note:This is the Re-issue, not the origonal CD, i believe the track listing is different from the origonal)

Reveiw-

1.Day the World Turned Day-Glo - 2:55
This song starts off with nice guitar and Sax. The Lyrics are hard to understand at first.. but after a few listens it is quite clear. It comes off really nice.. and i find myself singing it sometimes. 3/5

2.Obsessed With You - 2:32
Since i've listend to this CD many times, end on end, I know all the songs, and the tunes to them, but i dont know the names of the songs. This being one of them, its still a great. This song really shows off Poly's Screeching llyrics. It has a really cool Sax solo.. kinda makes me want to take up Saxaphone. 4/5

3. Genetic Engineering - 2:51
This is one of the slowest songs on the record. It aslo starts off with Poly saying the name of the song, with effects, befor the song starts. This is the intro to the beginning (Eg:I am a Cliche,Artificial,Identity). It has some pretty cool lyrics, and Sax playing.A great Line "INTRODUCING WORKER CLONE,AS OUR SUBORDINATED SLAVE,HIS EXPERTISE PROFICIENCY,WILL SURELY DIG OUR GRAVE" 4/5

4. Identity - 2:27
Another song that i know all the words to, But didnt exactaly know the name.I dont know why i didn't notice because it repeats "Identity" many times through-out the song. Possibly the best Sax playing on the record, But the vocals fall short here(here and only here!) 3/5

5. I Live off You - 2:11
One of my favorites off the album, has great Sax playing.(I've said that alot so far.. huh?) The song put together, is very great.. it just sounds perfect.5/5

6. GermFree Adolescents - 3:16
The slowest song on the album. Its at moderate pace.. and works well with the Lyrics. Its about people who have to be clean all the time.. don't want to touch anybody or anything.Great line from the song - "Her phobia is infection,She needs one to survive,It's her built-in protection,Without fear she'd give up and die" 5/5

7. Art-I-Ficial - 3:26
This song is about looking like, how society wants you to..atleast i think it is.
"When I put on my make-up,The pretty little mask not me,That's the way a girl should be,In a consumer society" 4/5

8. Let's Submerge - 3:28
One of my Favorite X-Ray Spex songs. I have no-idea what it is about.. but sounds great.. and is put together just the same."We're going down to the underground,We're going down we're going down,To the underground".. Just sounds so cool! 5/5

9. Warrior in Woolworths - 3:09
My absolute Favorite X-Ray Spex song. It has a pretty sounding Sax-solo.I dont know what the lyrics are trying to say.. but sounds great all at the same time. Its funny because it sounds like she's saying "wooly-al,wooly-al,wooly wooly-al!" 5/5

10. I Am a Poseur - 2:36
This is probly my least favorite song. I dont know why.. i still listen to it everytime it comes on, but its probly my least favorite.2/5

11. I Can't Do Anything - 3:00
Another one of my favorite songs. Poly just keeps saying "I Can't (Eg:Hate, spell, read, even go to hell  )" It sounds really awesome. Then she says.. for i have no reason "Freedom tried to strangle me,With my plastic popper beads,But I hit him back,With my pet rat,Yeah I hit him back
With my pet rat" .. What the hell is that supposed to mean.. haha.It also has great Guitar 5/5

12. Highly Inflammable - 2:37
A slow song.. with funny lyrics. "YOU THOUGHT I WAS A WOMAN,I THOUGHT YOU WERE A MAN,BUT I WAS TINKERBELL,AND YOU WERE PETER PAN"4/5

13. Age - 2:40
An awesome song.. has maroca's.. or something in it. The song sounds cool.. and is put together greatly! 4/5

14. Plastic Bag - 4:57
One of my favorites. Where the Drums and Guitar really stand out. Her voice is especialy great here. Goes from really fast.. to really short.I.. yet again.. dont understand all the lyrics. "I eat Kleenex for breakfast,And use soft hygienic Weetabix,To dry my tears."5/5

15. I Am a Cliche - 1:57
Probly one of the best known songs (next to Oh Bondage, Up Yours). it is also one of my favorites. The Drums and Guitars are great. I actually looked up the tabs for this(which i dont usually do, because i usually play my own stuff).. because this song is so great. 5/5

16. Oh Bondage, Up Yours! - 2:53
The most well known song by them, It was a single back in the day. It lacks their creative lyrics.. but the beginning lyric is awesome. Has Great sax.. really makes me want to take up Saxaphone! 4/5

A great album by a great band. Probly anybody who likes punk and hasn't heard them yet.. will probly start liking them after hearing a couple songs.

Final verdict:5/5 That is my totally biased opinion.. because i really love the 'spex..

I have the Anthology CD - is it worth investing in this as well? Or is this just the Anthology-live cuts and remixes?
