That one's enjoyable. The production is sub-par compared to other Sodom albums, but it's one of their fastest/most brutal albums to date.
That, and I liked the album cover. :o

Well without trying to act cool - I listen to metal 99.99% of the time. I have some jazz and a few classical CDs but I listen to them very rarely.
I was pointing that at the "elitest cool kids", not people who listen to tons of metal and are still mature. Sorry for the confusion.
My main genre of music I like is metal as well, but I also like alot of other kinds of music...
Mek : nice selection of bands, but you still should have gotten Blood Inside and The Sham Mirrors. :p
And people if people bitch about the music you play in your car, they should not even ask for getting a ride heh.
I hate riding with other people some times, for awhile one of my friends was on an ICP binge...and that's all he would listen to in the car, quite lame.

I ordered a few albums myself just a few minutes ago:
Leviathan (US) - Tentacles Of Whorror
Draugar (US) - Weathering The Curse
Grand Belial's Key - Judeobeast Assassination
Sear Bliss - Phantoms
Sacrifice (Can) - Torment In Fire
The Sear Bliss album is amazing, and the rest of their stuff is supposed to be even better. Damn I love the brass instruments in their music! :D

I beg to differ. Metalheads are some of the most closed-minded, easy to catagorically define groups of listeners around. The amount of metal around (Encyclopedia Metallum for instance) is staggering. So many metalheads ONLY listen to metal.
What did this have to do with your post?
Well without trying to act cool - I listen to metal 99.99% of the time. I have some jazz and a few classical CDs but I listen to them very rarely.
Maybe I will grow out of it with time but it's been 17 years so far and it's still Metal I love, no other style does it for me (not - I'm not really counting the fact that I love The Exploited and Discharge as evidence of a diverse musical taste!).
So does the fact that I make very little effort to hear music from other styles mean that I'm close-minded? Well, probably yes, but I don't care because there's hundreds of metal bands that I haven't heard and thousands of tracks that I want to get. Now and again I hear non-metal tracks that I like but when it comes to the crunch (ie in the record shop) I'm going to ignore it in favour of the new Reverend Bizarre. So, unless something comes along that I like better than metal - I'm just going to keep buying metal.
I don't think so. I think what makes people closed-minded is when they don't give other music a chance. When you do give it a chance and don't like it, it is fine and natural to stick with what you like. Only the people who are offended/hurt by your opinion will call you "closed-minded."
Plus, M-A frowns upon elitism.
Why do you say this?

Anybody listen to Carnival in Coal? I've only heard one song by them, but to me, they are like avante guarde Cephalic Carnage, except with bits of Mr. Bungle-ish type things thrown in.
edit: ok, wtf....Parts of this song sound dead on with how Cephalic Carnage does their vocals. Even the vocalists sound the same. Side project? Or are they just that similar?

I feel the exact same way. I am not too closed minded to listen to other kinds of music, but until something appeals to me as much as metal does, I'm going to listen to metal almost ALL of the time. There are so many different genres of metal and so many bands in those genres, that I can hardly see myself getting bored of it anytime soon.
I hate people that come in your car with 5 cd's and are all like "Ooh, look, I've got this, this, this, this, and this! Which one shall we listen to?"
Me: "None of them, you *******, we shall blasteth mine unholy Decapitated from mine speakers and wrecketh havocketh upon thine ears"
Them: "These songs all sound the same"
Me: "Get the **** out of my car"
It is a rule in my car, that if they get a ride from me, they suffer my musical tastes. :p
And Decapitated is excellent driving music. :)

It's almost like that for me, except there are other genres I LOVE when I hear, but am to destracted by the metal scene to really look into them. symphony x is in no way shape or form symphonic black metal. They even arent that symphonic, just pretty much straight up prog/power metal.

Tentacles of Whorror isn't a bad album by any means, but Tenth Sub Level of Suicide just completely blows it away. My only gripe with TOW is that Wrest lost some of the vibe he had going on previous recordings. The album has some really nice riffs, but it's not as atmospheric and doesn't grab you like the others. And GBK is excellent, non-repetitive black metal.

Its jet lag, and yeah ill have it, it is much worse coming to europe than going to the states though because when you go to europe it is generally an overnight flight, and i find it impossible to sleep on planes, plus you lose 6 hours. So while your plane leaves at like 10 at night, when you land in europe its already like 7 AM, and yet you were only in the air like 7 hours. It usually takes about 3 or 4 days for me at least to adjust to that properly
Flights to the states from Europe are during the day though, so it is fairly normal, although you gain 6 hours, so what ends up happening is by around 9PM youre pretty tired, but if you can force yourself to stay up until about 11 or 12 the next day you feel good as new.

From thew Chuck Schuldiner thread:
Jondur loves plain death metal at its purest form that draws the brutality from its passionate rawness. He thinks that the evolved forms of this genre have lost the atrocious proto death feeling and become far too cultivated and pretentious. He senses that modern death heads put too much effort in convincing people that death metal is not noise and zombie stories, while according to his standards it should be. This is why he believes late Death lost their magic (=rawness, primordial energy).

I agree with that for the most part. While I do like technical death, I definitly prefer stuff like Morbid Angel, Obituary, Deicide, early Death, etc. The atmosphere/feeling it puts off is much better in my opinion. That is one of the most important things that I want in my music, which is probably why I like black metal so much.

In fact I got two Terrorizer rehearsals last night (I think they were released on a bootleg called From the Tomb) - absolutely brilliant - I'm listening to it now at work and I'm so fired up I just slammed my assistant! What a band! It's like listening to a much nastier version of World Downfall!
Anyone know anything about the Split LP Terrorizer have out with Azagthoth? I assume it's boot but I can't find a copy anywhere or even any details about tracklist.

More to the point - are they better than Autopsy?
NO!
To be fair, if you're going to judge whether a band is any good based on "are they better than my favourite band?", you're going to have a hard time being positive about many groups :)
Anyway, though the time has somewhat passed, I'll just say that I like both the types of death metal you're on about. I don't like either style to the exclusion of the other (kind of a view in the middle of Jondur and MetalFan), so I enjoy, for example, both early Death and late Death, just for totally different reasons.

Fair point - but I was alluding to my previous post ie Have Necrophagist, by adding squealy solos, insane drumming, technical riffs etc, made music that is better than Autopsy who used riffs that you could play with one finger?
I know I've been labouring this point somewhat but I'm just fed up of people judging death metal based upon musical ability. There's nothing wrong with sloppy playing, rough production and simple songs if the feeling is there.
Likewise slick production etc does not make good music
Bartender

Yeah, but by the same token there's nothing inherently wrong with tight playing (etc) and good production, either.

Right this is my last post before I completely argue myself into a corner :)
I honestly think clean production takes away from the rawness of extreme metal. And the rawness is what makes it death metal. I'm not saying to the LLN extent but when you listen to the likes of Hate Eternal and it's just so cold and clinical that it loses the agression and brutality.
Now my prejudice is not absolute - I listen to the likes of Acid Death, Lykathea Aflame but by and large I'd rather be hit by some nastiness in the form of Grave or Master.

Sure, I've got a zipfile uploading of three songs, don't know if you've already heard it/if you'll like it, but the stuff is a lot more progressive. :-/ But guess we'll find out.
Songs include:
Age of Silence - The Concept of Haste
Age of Silence - The Greenhouse and the Dark Desk Drawer
Best way to describe this band is Acturus-ish.
Circus Maximus - Sin
More progressive-wise. I thought I'd just throw it in.
And you've probably already heard it all, haha. Oh well.

I've got two Pestilence old school Headbanger's Ball videos that I downloaded ages ago, but the bastard decided to fail my transfers and never appear online on my Soulseek ever again. :upset:

I know it's not meant to be brutal, I'm just teasing you :p
Coypu got banned I think... he knew his ****, but he could be quite the prick at the same time. He only liked bands for 2 simple reasons. If it was technical, or if it was brutal. Didn't matter what it sounded like as long as it had one of those 2 qualities.
