I downloaded Galloping Through The Battle Ruins the other day. I haven't had a chance to listen to it all yet, but I agree with everyone in that Incorrigable Bigotry is better. Decent album though. I went on a downloading spree and got that along with about 10 other albums. I'm so broke it's not even funny. Some of the stuff I got though is out of print so it's not like I could buy it even if I did have money. I finally heard None So Live as well. That's really good. They're really tight and the sound quality is really good. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it was recorded in Canada so the speaking between songs in in French. But that's minor.

There's one site of which I ordered 20 cd's once, but usually I just hope to stumble upon some metal CD's in one of the 10 or so stores here in Antwerp (Used and New).

And like you, I can take a bus for an hour to go to a big metal shop. But I don't usually do that, I don't buy metal exclusively, so it's not that urgent.

Online distros. A little bit of waiting, say a week or 2, but on average, it's only $10 a CD, so I can't go wrong.

The odd time, if it's a more popular album, say...new Napalm Death, I won't want to wait, so I'll run out to a store and buy it the day it comes out.

Well Emperor's background may dissappoint you. Wait... no it won't, Samoth and Faust were both members.

I'm glad I asked for this when I did. I wanted to do a well known and influential metal band that wasn't classic metal or some metal genre I don't like. Since I prefer the more melodic symohonic stuff Emperor does compared to their Norwegian cousins they were the obvious choice. With that or I was going to do 3 Days Grace.

Dead kills himself, Euronymous finds his body and (rumor has it) makes a stew of his brains and makes a neclace of his bones. Then Varg kills Euronymous. So many rumors are around claiming why he killed Euronymous it's hard to tell what's true.

Anyway, can some aid me quickish (I don't want too much time spent on this)?

I'm looking for a Napalm Death song where they have a riff with a slowish drum beat, and then double the speed of the drums whilst keeping the guitar riff at the same speed, which gives a really heavy effect? ATTN: New song written and finished today. It has growls and a few metally sections. Listen and discuss. I included the lyrics because they are religion oriented, and metal does that sometimes. Plus I think they're cool.

This God
Sleeps through tragedy
And awakes
To redirect the focus
He awakes to rain down fire
Onto the followers and the servants
And the slaves of the Beast
And he brands them
And his own are sealed
So that he may know
Who has followed Him
And who has not

Famine feeds his children’s needs
Pestilence keeps his children clean
War keeps his children safe
Death lets his children live
When the Seals break in chapter 6
Out come the Apocalypse
Red, White, Pale and Black
To tear us from our Earth

The Conqueror bent on conquest rides forth
He wears the Stephanos as a crown to show his deeds
The Butcher follows, to take peace from the earth
And to leave bodies in the meads
The third carried scales in hand, cried
“Do not waste the oil and wine!”
The pale is the last to come
Hades is his companion

Souls under the altar
Erupt for the fifth seal
The souls of those who had been slain
Thanks to the word of God and the witness they maintained
When the 6th of 6 opened up
Volcanoes roared and the mountains shook
Judgment was cast down to find
Those that hid from him and Christ

Great multitudes in white
12 by 12 by 1000
The martyrs stand in ranks
Behind God’s gates

Legendary Swedish death metal band. Formed from the ashes of Nihilist who were ace and created THAT guitar sound.

Two classic albums "Left Hand Path" and "Clandestine". Then went a bit funny by making groovey death metal with a rock and roll edge. Check out "Wolverine Blues" see if you like it.

Good stuff! I'm going to go looking around the used shops on the Coast. All 3 of them.

For Kayo Dot and MotW, I'd say Bath > Choirs of the Eye > Leaving Your Body Map > My Fruit Psychobells... A Seed Combustible

I really hope the MotW albums get re-released. They're so good and would be bought up quickly, assuming they didn't print off too many.

I've already checked our main local CD shop a number of times but they are seriously lacking when it comes to metal. I'll check a sketchy olittle pawn shop soon though. I think thay mostly have crappy hair metal but I might get lucky.

What do you people think of Incantation? i saw them at jaxx thursday, in springfield virginia, and they were just amazing. Nice mix of slow sludgy parts and faster stuff, with some great powerful, low vocals, very powerful drumming, great guitar and a bass that is actually noticeable.
I saw them live at jaxx too, although not on thursday.

Merci beaucoup!

Last year, there were the likes of Slipknot, Hatebreed, Shadow's Fall, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth. It attracted quite a few metalcore kids, many only there to see Slipknot! Brings in the cash for them, so they can hire more bands the year after, I suppose. There were many good bands there though - Morbid Angel, Dying Fetus, Exodus, Motorhead, Alice Cooper, Children of Bodom, Testament, etc. etc.

pop you like a cherry
fill that skin with craters

Make a mess with blood and puss
Make a mess with blood and puss
Make a mess with blood and puss

squeeze until the white and red

that doesn't matter much to me.
but what does matter to me, is the fact that slipknot is headlining, and megadeth is on 2nd stage or something.

similair with SOAD and Slayer, Slayer ( or any good real Metal band) should headline, not some nu-metal band

or something like Bathory, Behemoth, Breaking Benjamin, Burzum

tehehe :p

Anyway, should I get Anthems To The Welkin at Dusk? I love Nightside and I have Promethus which is pretty cool. Is Anthems much like Nightside?

lol...yeah. I listen to a ton of different stuff, plus I download stuff for my wife and people at work quite a bit. I need to delete some of the stuff though. I'm about out of hard drive space. Who are you on Soulseek? I'll try to remember to add you to my list when I get home if you're not already on it.

Yes, get Anthems. It's not my favorite Emperor, but it's still really good.

99% of all DM bands have one gimmick. Besides how CAN there be much creativity when a genre is based on one or two things? Besides I enjoy classical music far more, far more allowance for creativity. I only listen to creative sounding music :) not simple two chord songs with lyrics that are written just to make people hate them :).

Dancin' Man

You are an idiot. DM is not based on one or two things. It allows for huge ammounts of variation. And not all the lyrics are misanthropic. Lykathea Aflame for example has lyrics all about a conceptualized afterlife. Philosophy and history are big concept in DM lyrics. You clearly have not given DM the chance it deserves and instead dismissed it.

The symphonics on this song are so money. I wish it were longer and... basically I wish I had an entire album of this stuff. It is the most impressive mix of an orchestra and metal I've ever heard. It is extreme symphonic metal. Extreme metal belongs here. That's like saying we don't welcome Opeth. Did they use a real orchestra for this album?

Seriously, how many people come in this thread, thinking they are the all knowing gods of music knowledge with their terrible generic death metal bashing?

pretty much all of the "reputable" bands base pretty much their career on that ;)

Hmmm

I guess bands like Gory Blister, Death, Necrophagist, Behemoth, Arsis, Decapitated, Mithras, Cryptopsy, Lykathea Aflame, Quo Vadis, Athiest and Cynic etc etcare all "two chord" bands. Especially when Athiest and Cynic blend jazz and death metal together to make a quite technical music.

And the fact that you think Meshuggah is death metal and your lack of response beyond that shows that you know jack **** about death metal.

Forgot to add Sleep Terror into that mess of bands as well heh, which they are a jazz/death metal fusion band as well.

Speaking of Sleep Terror, they are going to probably hit a show here in Oregon August 6th and a show in Seattle August 7th...that would rule.
