Is Engineering The Dead as good as Goremageddon - The Saw And The Carnage Done from Aborted?

Because if it is, I'm gonna have to buy it.

Engineering The Dead is a pretty good album. Have you heard The Purity of Perversion? Musicwise Engineering The Dead is an abvious step between Purity and Goremageddon. The sound is a lot more polished than Purity, but the music has a lot "grindy" sound to it than Goremageddon. It's definately worth getting.

Perhaps man. Calling into work is a snap, but we'll see. Deicide hasn't been good for like... 12 years though, and they don't even play anything off Legion anymore. Immolation is totally going to blow them off the stage anyways.

The point is, it's 3:29 on a Saturday afternoon, and I'm sitting here drinking beer alone. Does that make me an alcoholic? Of course not! I don't go to meetings.

06-05-2005, 12:43 AM
Geez mate why the hostility?

It was directed towards the bloke that said "what happened to metal"? I thought that Cynic wer quite good and because I hadn't been on MX for a couple of months wasn't sure if HappyMarshmellow knew who Cynic were.

So for that I apologise.

I'd say Cynic are catchy. Not in a can't-get-the-bastard-out-of-my-head annoying way, but it's a rare time I can listen to something like Veil of Maya or How Could I and not come away humming/singing bits of them afterwards.

But mentioning Cynic in response to a "what happened to metal"-style question seems a bit pointless, since they existed more than ten years ago now.

Same here. I figured more people are willing to vote for Choy because he's not in a prog band where everyone's expected to think they're all prodigies. Norberg is amazing but I felt they were about tied and prefer Choy's bands, and his ability to replace Patterson and open up a slot for Sean Malone.

Ok listen up ladies. This here is the most technical, brutal death metal you will have ever heard. Think Necrophagist, but faster.

I have broadband and DL from YSI, for example, usually at about 300-400 KB/s, and I've had faster. Soooooo nice...

I've got DSL at home. I think it's a 768 line. I can download a full album on Soulseek in about 15 minutes if I get someone else with a good connection. We've got a pretty fast connection here at work too.

I can provide you with the background tracks of guitar, bass, and drum synth that I did for my project. I covered Graves of the Fathers. There's only one or two mistakes where I forget to repeat a part or I leave something out, but it's pretty much the same song.

Lets hear it man. Sounds good, would be an awsome song to cover.

I'm trying to calculate how long it takes on average for a 6MB mp3 to download with each of these speeds.

Judging from everyones posts it seems I can afford the kind of connection/speed manuscriptreplica and br3ad man have. Cant see the time I'll be 24/7 on: tr00 meaning of life! :D

I've seen reviews and heard a song on the radio (a good one by the way) so I guess it's a matter of time to appear on soulseek if it hasnt already.

Yeah, although many people don't feel that Mayhem's later works are true. In a similar way, Emperor's early stuff was thought of as true. Spell it right people. No real black metal fan spells true "tr00". That spelling was just made to make fun of black metal.

No, if you read Varg's account for what happens it matches. I wouldn't have thought about it if 93 wasn't mentioned. I don't know of any connection personally either - the lyrics don't have to be personal events.

Bathory is greatness, check the last two pages to see various thread members paying tribute to Qourthon. As for albums, my favorites are "Blood Fire Death" and "Hammerheart". Those two have a very epic vibe. If you want more of a black metal sound, then "The Return" and "Under the Sign of the Black Mark". Lastly, for a viking metal sound, "Nordland" I and II.

Are you thinking Martyr AD or Martyr? Martyr AD is metalcore, Martyr is technical death metal. I think Martyr AD are quite good as far as metalcore goes but Martyr are an excellent Tech Death band. Cynic released one full length - Focus. Any few songs should do the trick.

Thew newest stuff is the best IMO. Zos Kia Cultus and Demigod are two of the best modern death metal releases. Very thick and clean sounding. I need some recomendations. I like Opeth(favorite band, actually), Morphia, Arch Enemy, and some Cannibal Corpse, but that's actually about all that i've actually heard. Besides, Nile, but i've only heard the howling of the jinn by them. I've heard a lot of good things about Behemoth, but I really haven't heard much death metal. I've been mostly on black metal for a while and I want to listen to some more death metal, so what are some good recomendations?
Can't go wrong with Death(the band).

I'm after vocals similar to Opeth, by that I mean growls that are fairly clear and easy to understand. Any bands?
Morbid Angel's vocals always seemed really clear to me. Also, Gorguts is really good, its not as clear, but kinda easy to understand and not really your standard DM vocals. Really good though.

Dying Fetus are lame. That is my decree.

I suggest you just stop with Cannibal Corpse, they get boring REAL fast.

I suggest:

In Flames - Whoracle (Melodic Death/Gothenburg)
Dark Tranquillity - Skydancer (Melodic Death/Gothenburg)
Quo Vadis - Day Into Night (Melodic Death)
At The Gates - Slaughter Of The Soul (Melodic Death/Gothenburg)

May 25th 2005 : Cryptopsy is in the studio recording the new album.

As of monday May 16th, Cryptopsy have been at Studio Vortex (Saint-Constant, Quebec) with Sebastien Marsan at the helm, busily recording the new album. So far over half the drum tracks are completed, and the sound is huge.

As well, soundguy Jake Disman has been keeping the Cryptopsy Fan Forum a buzz with his informative brand of wit. Visit the forum at http://cryptopsyforum.info

Both David and Steve have always sounded rather clear to me. David's really clear on AoM, but he's not really growling on there. And I've always liked Steve's vocals, because they can be deep as all Hell, but most of the time you can understand them.

Also, I forgot about Suffocation. They're vocals are similar to Tucker-era Morbid Angel, IMO.

I live in Greece and like I've said before we've got a pretty good radio show every Sunday. Among others lately they have played Atheist, the new Nile, the new Origin and the new Slough Feg.

Bah, I think both blow, for Technical/Brutal Death I'll take Necrophagist, Cryptopsy, or Nile any day, but I'll take Melodeath over that stuff any day, basically Opeth = pwns all.

Yeah, but they are quite shallow in their music as far as any meaning is concerned. I prefer Autopsy's lyrics for gore/death:

13. Maim Rape Kill Rape

White-collared killer
Pray by day - **** the dead by night
Preach the book - brainwash the sheep
Kills as he shrieks with delight
A tendency for the younger ones
Little boys so unaware
Exploring orafices with unholy lust
Alive then dead, the molestation continues

Screaming boys crapping

Pimpled tongue lapping
Kidnap and sodomy
Necroproctology

Maim rape kill rape maim rape

[D.C.]

Grabbing the head of the blue child
He makes it suck his ****
Blowing his wad - blowing his mind
Blowing the corpses time after time

Arms and legs cut off
Torso raped vigorously
****-encrusted ***
Dead for his pleasure
Hacksawing flesh
Dissecting his victims

Spilling out organs - making love to innards

[E.C.]

Holy holes not holy anymore
Sanctuary for his **** - his whore
Gritty road to anal heaven
****ty balls, he was only eleven
Veil of god to conceal his deeds
Missing-list grows, he fulfilles his needs

15. An End to the Misery

Unhappy with the world in which you live
You feel like ****, you wanna die
Well who the **** is stopping you
From taking your miserable life?

Finger on the trigger
Of the gun against your head
Should you really do it?
Will we miss you when you're dead?
You're looking for advice
And I've got some for you

Kill yourself
I don't care about you
Go **** yourself
You were born to lose

[E.C.]
