Instruments are moderate to slow in the songs that I've heard, and the guitar is usually lower, the vocals are pretty guteral gwoling, the drumming is standard.

On some songs they can get quite fast (xul). There are a fair few melodic lead breaks in there which add a nice element to the songs.
Definately one of my favourite albums.

Of course, the drums are hella fast. Its really not a slow album for the most part.

You'll like the 3-4 albums before it, but before that, they had more of a black metal sound, but it was still good. Sventevith is my favourite Behemoth album.

Hey, you'll see me at the nile/black dahlia murder/behemoth show.
I saw Morbid Angel on Tuesday in the Mean Fiddler. Awesome show. I was pissed off because Necrophagist were supposed to be supporting but must have dropped out, it was Hatesphere instead. They were OK, but not as good as Necrophagist would have been.
Morbid Angel played a great set, but I've come to the conclusion that death metal fans have to be the tallest on average. All I could really see was Sandoval's kit and David Vincent's face. Azagthoth was in the shadows on the far side if the stage, but occasionally I could see his flashing blue fretboard wailing around. The amount of girls at the show was really surprising too, more than you normally see even at 'non-extreme' gigs.
How tall are you?
What about you Justin?

All the stuff about Behemoth
Demigod is an OK album. Musically it's decent, but the vocals don't seem to fit in with the music at some points. Still a good album overall though. Zos Kia Kultus, Satanica and Thelema.6 are all really good albums. Their older stuff was black metal. Good black metal, but not in any way like their newer death metal stuff. And yes, it is From The Pagan Vastlands, not wastelands. They're playing in Detroit next week. I really really want to go, but I don't have the money. And it's 3 hours away. I'm still dissapointed that I'm not going. That was one show I would have been willing to drive 3 hours to see. But alas...lack of money prevents yet another concert. **** I hate being broke.

Cephalic Carnage seem to be very popular in here lately. I've seen people saying both good and bad things but I've never heard a song or something. They're coming here too and Inveracity (anyone familiar with them?) are supporting them.
I'm thinking of getting the new ORIGIN, heard a couple of songs and was impressed! Surprisingly for their technicality, they were quite memorable.
Also, I've recently found out about INTO THE MOAT, who, according to metal hammer, are supposed to play some kind of technical death but they're not on the metal-archives data base so I'm suspicious. Anyone know what's going on?

Dudes... I've been getting into loads of electronica lately. I've pretty much given up listening to metal, or any other form of music.
It's that I've been listening to metal for so long, it all sounds the same.
It all started when I picked up some Aphex Twin a while back... it was so appealing and awesome... the melodies and the beats are so creative and different from what I usually listen to...
I don't know exactly how this happened. I stopped smoking marijuana a while back because it was interfering with my schoolwork and sex life... It's not like I was a haevy smoker, but since that last night that I got absolutely smashed and then just gave it up (more than two months ago I think), my life has been really different.

I heard Perdition City and I didn't like it much at all. I have a strong distaste for Jazz, but I respect it. In fact, I'm studying jazz guitar right now.
The genres of techno that appeal to me are hardcore, jungle, acid, etc. I like speedy stuff with hyperactive drums and crazy melodies. Aphex Twin, Infected Mushroom, only one or two Squarepusher songs, The Ragga Twins, etc.
I have a strong distaste for industrial metal, because most of it is really weak.
I'll check out M83 and Kraftwerk.

understandable- voice of the soul is definately not ****, and to answer your hendrix question: little wing is genius-which is probably why it has been covered by so many guitarists
What the hell are you talking about? Do you have any idea how famous, and covered that song is? That song gets 10 times the attention any death metal song does. Haven't you even heard the Stevie Ray Vaughn version? It is a brilliant song though.

Hail once again fellow metallers!
Some of you have probably seen me post a few times in here about my new project, Eye of Flames, which is an old school black metal project (In the style of early Emperor and no so early Darkthrone).
I originally intended for it to be Tolkien themed black metal, but recently thought, why write lyrics about Tolkien Mythology, when I ****ing hate the world?
So it's official, there still are gonna be a few Tolkien songs, but most of the stuff now is gonna be misanthropy/nihilistic, heh, total darkness!
I'm recording a few covers as part of this, I've already layed down the drums, guitars and bass for a cover of Darkthrone's "I en Hall Med Flesk Og Mjod", just need to do the vocals.
As for an Emperor cover, I'm thinking of either: I am The Black Wizards, Majesty of The Nightsky, Cosmic Keys to My Creations and Times, or Thus Spake The Nightspirit.
I might throw a Mayhem cover in if I have time.
I am going to enetually put out an album/demo thingy, which I am going to distribute myself (obviously), it will be limited to about 20 copies, whether I send a few to underground labels and zines I don't know, I might possibly (it won't be some mainstream crap like kerrang:lol:).
When I have it done, if a a few people on here want a copy I'll be glad to send you one, just remember I'm only making 20 copies, some of which are going to labels/zines and friends.
Anyway, I'll stop rambling on about myself now:lol:

Agathocles play furious grindcore... They call their style Mincecore. It's typical grind I suppose. Short, catchy songs, but still, they have a sound of their own. I for one love them, but I'm sort of a grindwhore... They are a pain in the *** to the collectors out there, because they have about a billion.5 releases.
Newest additions since visiting the Post Office:
Agathocles - To Serve... To Protect/Leads To
Alienation Mental - Ball Spouter

Strange, then again im unfarmiliar with Speyer, so its probably a bit smaller of a place. In larger areas, i.e. Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf, etc.. etc... more people are likely to know them, because more touring bands will stop through the city, especially if the band is german.
German metalheads are very aware of almost all the non-local metal bands from the country.

Well in itself, it's something like to urge someone/thing on to attack someone. For example, you would sic your dog on an intruder or an attacker or something.
It can also not really have a meaning itself; if you're quoting a passage which includes a mistake by the original author, you put (sic) to denote that it's not a mistake of yours, you're just preserving what he said/wrote precisely. I think. Did that make sense?

Various elements from other genres are incorporated and the vocals are often screamo-ish...listen to some samples here...

Doesn't exist. It's a stupid label people put on certain bands that are more complicated than the norm but still within they're given genre. Examples are Mastodon and Dillinger Escape Plan. Mastodon is metal. Just metal. They fit that perfectly and are also more advanced and complicated than most just metal bands. DEP is semi-progressive hardcore. The complicated part is summed up in progressive.

Every time I hear the style mentioned it's in a different context, which would indicate to me that it doesn't really exist.
Bands like DEP, they can just be called hardcore can't they? It seems like every time a band has a non conventional time signature and the odd jazz influenced drum fill, the word 'math' gets put somewhere into their genre classification.

Hmm...things seem to be a bit clearer now. To sum up, bands like DEP are mainly hardcore with technical/progressive parts and belong to a hardcore subgenre, not a whole new genre of their own. Like for instance:
