There are deeper meanings to lyrics than face value. I have not "studied" Autopsy's lyrics much, though bands like these have lyrics that may, for example be a reminder to the public of the final end, or the fact that death reigns supreme. It may be a way of exploring death also, for example. There are bands that don't see any meaning to their lyrics, such as Cannibal Corpse, or Korn, or others.

This has been probably talked about before, but I just picked up Mithras' Worlds Beyond the Veil, and it ****ing rules. Very technical and fast, but also very atmospheric and cool. Great album. I also picked up Nile's Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka and Mayhem's De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas.

Man, I jsut downloaded a few songs from Ulver's "Bergtatt" album, and man! This stuff is great I think. What do you guys think of them? And if your familiar with them what would be the next album to get from them after I get all of Bergtatt?

I'd recommend their other bm album, Nattens Madrigal. Be warned, it has the harshest production I've ever heard, and if you're new to black metal, it's definitely not easy on the ears.

Not too hard. I have In Harmonia Universali, and it's not that great. It gets pretty annoying at times. Arcturus > Solefald. Maybe you'll enjoy it more than me though.

We have melodic, atmospheric, symphonic, avant grade, progressive, viking...although none of the entries fits these categories...They just invented technical black metal or wrote a technical/melodic death song and put the label black in front of it!

Mine has trem picking and a few blast beats. It's a lot closer to melodic BM than what you described though. And the vocals are closer to DM.
