Since theres all the talk about Anaal Nathrakh, they said that they would play live if they ever found a drummer, and I was thinking that Frost might be able to pull it off. So far I think everything Anaal's done Frost can do, and I think he would add an interesting aspect to the music. Anyone else agree? Or have other ideas?

I'd say Hellhammer just cause he's God. Or Flo Mournier.

Hellhammer maybe, I'm not too sure. I wouldn't wanna see Flo in Anaal though, his style is too relaxed IMO. He has none of the aggression and emotion that I get from Frost's playing. He is extremely fast, it just always seems like he's sorta laid-back or something when he plays, I dunno. I'd just prefer Frost.

All of those drummers could probably do it. Maybe not Flo, which does not mean he is bad in any way. Frost is probably my favorite drummer. I love his work in 1349.

You have to atleast get some drums in there... it sounds boring without them.
but not too bad, it has potential :thumb:
Vocals were pretty good for an attempt also.
And one more thing.. i cant stand the guitar sound, its WAY to trebely, but i know some people like that stuff, so thats just my opinion.

How'd you do the drums???? Real drums?

I really like it. I really want a black metal band so I can make it a progressive one and join the ranks of Enslaved, Vintersorg and Borknagar. I'd call if Firebreather because that would be a hot name. I'd name my doom/sludge band Elephant because that would be an awesome name. I'd name my death metal band Guilt Eater cause that would be an awesome name.

I record through a USB thing, then onto my computer. I don't know if I'm doing it right, but i get tons of white noise, making it sound either very bad, or very tr00.

I think I need to mess with the settings, because not only do I get lots of white noise, it picks up every single mistake I make. If I don't pick the note perfectly, it sounds really bad, yet sounds great when I plug into my amp. :(

Audition has a noise remover. You first record a sample of what you want removed then, using the saved sample, the program will filter out noise. It's pretty awesome.

Nick Barker, as people have said. They have Shane Embury handling bass as well, provisionally. Although, this is only for the performance on the Radio One Rock Show, which is coming up soon. They've previously been rather negative about the idea of touring...

Not to slag them, but for Hellhammer... well, Frost is one of the only BM drummers I've heard who can keep up such high speeds for so long. And Flo might make it too technical. Anaal should in no way be technical.

Woah! did you play those drums? There was some sweet double bass going on if you did. I want to find a good program for programming drums.
No, I programmed them using Leafdrums.
I used Leafdrums, and used drum samples from www.hollowsun.com

The sound effects are just actually guitars and drums I put phaser or flange on, the one at the end was a harmonic I played, and I thought "Hey, that might sound cool like this"

I'll mix it again soon, it was only afterwards when I listened to it through headphones it doesn't sound too great with the bass that high.
Vocals will be on soon...spewing out evil, nihilistic, misanthropic things.

Well, i finally recorded one of my little "songs".
It took me a while because i kept starting from scratch because i was off time with about everything, im still off time in some parts.
I screwed up alot too, but i just wanted to get it done with and try to get some opinions off of here.
Im converting it to mp3 this time :thumb:
and you can actually hear it without having to **** with your sound settings or whatever. so i hope you like it :D
ill have the link up in a few minutes.

i couldnt convert it to mp3... but its in .wav, and alot of media players play .wav, so it doesnt matter that much anyway, except for its a little bit bigger, but anyway
I think the intro is kind of like Cradle Of Filth- Gothic Romance, with the violin and stuff, but when it goes to after the intro thing, it gets really sloppy. sorry about that, but i had to do the drums on my keyboard, and it sucked...
but its my first recording that ive done like this, so keep that in mind :D
well ill stop talking about it...

Tell me what you think :thumb:

Ok,I've got a few questions.

I just picked up Nile-In Thier Darkened Shrines. Holy **** these guys are awesome. However, I was quite amazed at the extent of their research into egyptian history and mythology, and occasional references to sub-Judaism. Are these guys Egyptian or European themselves, or is Egyptian and eastern history/philosophy a pasttime of thiers that they incorporated into music?

Also, as a side question, what is DEP classified as exactly? I have Miss Machine, and I've heard they are mathcore and grindcore both, but niether term do I sufficiently understand. Can someone clarify?

I dunno, I've found some wierd sh*t at the record stores here. For some reason, they stock Dimmu Borgir by the dozens, and there were probably 15 or 16 copies of Nile's album when I bought it. What Label are they on, or are they self -produced?

BoboTheRagingHobo

They are on Obscene Productions for a label, and they are from the Czech Republic.

They are far far more obscure then Dimmu Borgir and Nile in a record store. They are not obscure in the death metal community, but everywhere else they are fairly hard to find.

I also want to know what is up with them and making a new album. One album is not enough!

O.K can't find it ...
but the gist was

vocalist of poppish band the beautiful south, (remember "perfect 10"?)paul heaton took a suggestion from their website that, for their new covers album they cover I cum blood so they downloaded it, and couldn't cover it... he said
"we listened to it again and again but the drums were inpenetreble and we couldn't do
it, and the lyrics were just filth... they are obviously a fantastic band but just not us"

I thought that was pretty cool that they would bother for a song that was obviously not their style the article was in ****ty psuedo- intelligent magazine word last month
just thought I'd share

Yeah, I met them when they supported the Dillinger Escape Plan. After they finished I couldn't be bothered to watch Poison The Well, and I went to buy an ED shirt. They were standing around at the back and I just went up to the bassist, trying to say 'You played great' and 'I'm a bassplayer myself'. He didn't understand a word, he just smiled and nodded and said 'Grazi, grazi'.

That was .

It's not the everyday person that can form thoughts into that kind of language, you know. I wasn't saying he's a language god; that was kind of uncalled for.

By the way, I did go ahead and look into the band last night, and they are from S Carolina (Karl is anyway). However, I'm really curious as to who does the drumwork. Nile is described by the two guitars and bass (all of which do vocals), but there is no mention of a drummer. Any ideas?

It's a city in Sweden, where the so called 'Gothenburg' sound originated from. It probably orginiated from Liverpool in England, where Carcass are from.

Woo! I might have found myself an extreme metal band - finally. They're a mix of brutality, melody, ambience and random time signatures. Early days yet, it might not happen, but the idea and the possible members are cool enough.

Gothenburg is pretty much just another name for those melodic death metal bands from that area. Such as In Flames when they hit the Gothenburg sound era with Colony and upwards.

Gothenburg = In Flames sound from Colony and up and such.
