Someone I know went to see Cryptopsy in Peterborough! They were playing all of None So Vile (you know, that special tour they're doing)! but unfortunately she brought her stupid pop friend and she felt sick and bored and was gonna hurl so they had to go. She only saw four songs, but still. SHE SAW LORD WORM

Death Metal and "pimpsh.it" are the farthest things apart...

EDIT: Ok, maybe only a few weren't extreme metal. But you have Six Feet Under and Mortician on there, which destroys your credibility.

Firstly, the "p-i-m-p S H I T" is so metal, were have you been you god **** poser. No, dude I'm just screwing around, it was senseless humour.

Secondly, my credibility to what? How "metal" I am? Actaully to a certain extent, I wouldn't even call myself metal. Although I listen to about every aspect of that genre (metal, not death metal, whether it be speed, brutal, tech, grind influenced or whatever) I am a huge fan of music as a whole (but seriously, I have my limits: a certain POP genre of dance, techno, rap, punk). Man people like you make me laugh my arse off!

But seriously, Sadus is ok. . . I just got introduced to more of their stuff recently. Not a big fan, but **** yeah Steve (no one funks it up quite like him)!

More recently,

Psycroptic
Fleshcraft

I haven't actually. I've looked but not seen anything. Have heard mixed reviews - although getting Danny Lilker to do reviews is a stroke of genius.

Aye will be recording a new demo in a couple of weeks. three new songs and an acoustic/vocals intro. I will of course send you a copy.

For those of you troo enough to have a record player the split 7" we did with Cambian Dawn should be out very soon.

Over to Lubeck, Germany sometime in April next year to record a full length hopefully.

Probably sound more boring, I think its good he doesn't just do the low end growls all the time, which he did for their first album mainly. Most of you, well all you most likely would have heard of James Murphy, as he's been in manyyyy different Death Metal bands. Well, bearing in mind that all my information on the band so far comes from metal-archives, King Fowley is in the band now, but Marcel DeSantos (who played with Atheist) used to be in Deceased, as drummer if not vocalist.

Anyway, that's just how I found out about them. I'm not expecting any Atheist style metal from them.

Has anyone here heard the new The Chasm album? It's quite good in my opinion. It still holds true to the typical The Chasm feel and riffing and there's a nice atmosphere created by the album. The vocals have a lot of echo and reverb around them, making them sound more... "cosmic" I guess. The album isn't as experimental as some of their earlier stuff but its still a wonderful and solid album. I recommend you all check it out.

Cohen Michael Seaman!

My wife had our son early Saturday morning. So that's where I've been. He got here are 12:52am on 06-Nov-2004 (also our 5 year wedding anniversary!). He was 7lbs 3oz and 21". I don't know the weight conversion, but 21"=53cm. He's actually still in the hospital in the ICU. He's doing really good, he just took in a lot of extra fluid in his stomach and lungs when he was born. So that caused some minor respitory problems. Then when his breathing was normal, they were concerned that he had gotten an infection due to the extra fluids. But he's doing really good now. He was taken off all of his IV fluids, his blood work has been coming back normal, and he has started to eat through a bottle instead of a feeding tube. Actually, as of earlier today, he was actualy able to nurse! My wife was discharged today so we're home for tonight. Cohen will most likely be discharged tomorrow.

Well...Cohen is back in the hospital tonight. He was discharged yesterday, but sent home with what they call a "beli-blanket". He's got jaundice (sp?) which is where the liver doesn't get all of the belirubin out of the blood so his skin was turning a bit yellowish. He had a check up today and his belirubin level had gone up even with the "beli-blanket" so they readmitted him. He's still doing really well overall, just another minor speedbump. I'm just a bit upset about the whole thing. When he was readmitted today, he was admitted to the general care area, not the ICU which is good, but only 1 parent can stay in the room with him so I'm stuck at home. As far as the name goes, the first name wasn't after anyone. I don't really know where we got Cohen. Michael (his middle name) is after my uncle. Michael is my uncle's middle name and he's done a lot for me, especially in the first few years after my dad died. And I'm already a junior, so there was no way in hell I wan gonna have a Randy James Seaman the 3rd! We had to be a bit careful of what names went with out last name. My wife's grandpa wanted Cohen named after him, but his name is Richard. We just couldn't get through to him that we couldn't name our son "Dick" Seaman!

hmmm...new Enslaved you say? Well since it won't be out until after xmas I guess it's going to have to get put on my birthday "want" list.

A few essentials,

Morbid Angel - Start with Altars of Madness and work your way up.

Carcass - Probably best skipping their first album Reek Of Putrefaction as its grind. Go for Necroticism or heartwork to start with.

At The Gates - I suggest either Terminal Spirit Disease or Gardens Of Grief.

Vader - Litany

Altar - Red Harvest

Amon Amarth - Once Sent From The Golden Hall

Reactivated Swedish death metallers DISSECTION will release their much-anticipated comeback single/EP, "Maha Kali", on November 16 via Escapi Music/Screaming Ferret Wreckords. Armed with a fresh lineup, consisting of mainman Jon Nödtveidt (vocals and guitar), Set Teitan (guitar, ABORYM, BLOODLINE), Brice Leclercq (bass guitar, NIGHTRAGE) and Thomas Asklund (drums, DARK FUNERAL, INFERNAL, DAWN), DISSECTION describe the new CD as "a hymn to the wrathful black Hindu goddess of Mahapralaya, the great dissolution of cosmos, Jai Maha Kali!" An audio sample of the title track is available at this location.

Nödtveidt recently told Finland's Sonera Plaza that the group's next full-length effort will surface in the fall of 2005. "We will continue touring all around the world (probably South America and so on) during the winter/spring 2005 and we will also be playing summer festivals all around Europe and so on. We have about 11 new songs that we are going to record in the spring so the next album [will likely come] out in the autumn."

DISSECTION filmed their headlining performance in Stockholm on Oct. 30, 2004 for an upcoming DVD, tentatively due next year. The as-yet-untitled disc will also feature a band documentary.

I'll probably get the DVD and new album, but i really only want to see them live. The 'Maha Kali' sample was highly disappointing though. I hope (though i doubt it) that they recorded Watain's set also, because Watain most likely played a better, cleaner show.

Wow, someone who got into metal without listening to Metallica, Opeth or Iron Maiden, I salute you.

...actually, I used to listen to Metallica. I'm not a fan now though. However, I didn't work my way up to extreme metal or anything. I just saw Toozey raving about Mithras in one of his reviews and so I decided to listen to them and I gradually got used to them. Then I found Cryptopsy and Mastodon, Opeth came later.

EDIT: My 6,666th post was in here! Conincidence?

Cool. I've been looking to get into some grind, the only bands I know are Napalm Death, Cattle Decapitation (some consider them grind), and some consider Cryptopsy to be death/grind.

I've just read the reviews on metal acrhives about the new dissection single and the reviewer seemed really disappointed :(. No more speed, no more complexity, no more natural sound (production)? Female vocals ?!?!

God, tell me it's only some kind of a trick/joke Jon came up with before the release of a trully classic album :(... Have you actually listened to this single? For god's sake he had 8 good years to compose something deep that meets with our expectations!

You can listen to the sample at www.dissection.nu

It's not very good and the production does not help.

Satyricon is going to be playing at The Opera House in Toronto on December 14! Their first time in Canada ever, I believe. All I want is to see Mother North performed live once and I will be satisfied... but Joey Jordison will be filling in for Frost for this show, and some others. I am skeptical of Jordison's ability to properly drum Satyricon songs.
