The bad thing with a brutal death album is that is not memorable (at least to me) and it doesnt make me want to go back and listen to it again. I like technical death but not brutal technical death (although I'm missing some killer riffs). Of course judging from one track is not ideal but for now I'd better spend my money on another group :(

uhh...Your title says Banned but last I knew you weren't...so I'll assume it's a temp.

Opus Nocturne is a really good album IMO. It's a much overlooked Marduk release. Panzer Division is a good album if you're pissed off. It's brutal and aggressive as hell, but it gets old. It's very repetitive. Those Of The Unlight is a classic album. It really is truly great. It's a lot closer to Opus Nocturne. Heavan Shall Burn...When We Are Gathered is also a really good album, but it's a lot closer to the style of Panzer Division. Very aggressive. World Funeral is a decent album as well. Still in the same style as Heavan Shall Burn and Panzer Division, World Funeral is quite aggressive, but also has some slower more melodic moments.

MORBID ANGEL Perform Live With DAVID VINCENT: Photos, Review Posted Online

More than two dozen pictures taken at MORBID ANGEL's first show with frontman David Vincent in eight years (Sept. 4, 2004 at Café Iguanas in Monterrey, Mexico) have been posted online at Evilheart.com. According to Evilheart.com's Rodolfo Rogers, the band performed no Steve Tucker-era songs, concentrating solely on the material recorded during Vincent's tenure with the group. MORBID ANGEL's compelte set list for the Monterrey show was as follows:

01. Rapture
02. Pain Divine
03. Maze Of Torment
04. Sworn To The Black
05. Blasphemy
06. Lord Of All Fever And Plague
07. Dawn Of The Angry
08. Where The Slime Live
09. Blood On My Hands
10. Immortal Rites
11. Day Of Suffering
12. Evil Spells
13. Chapel Of Ghouls

14. God Of Emptiness
15. World Of ****

ninjamonkey:

"Brutality" is a confusing matter when it comes to my preferences. Usually I cannot stand really deep growling and/or constant blastbeats without memorable vocal lines (=just a bunch of growling words thrown over the riffs) bore me to death. To tell you a few examples I like groups in the vein of Death (the ultimate metal group in my opinion), Atheist, Nocturnus etc The Chasm (gods!), Sceptic, Acid Death or even Into Eternity which are one the groups that many (including me) do not consider them death, just like Cynic (if they hadnt had that robot voice they'd be gods!). Another example is Necrophagist (checked them thanks to you guys here). They have KILLER riffage (especially the lead parts) but the vocals and the da da da da drumming (most of the times) spoil all the fun! Surprisingly I like theory of practice!

No, -phile is to do with love (not necessarily literally); Anglophile, Francophile, pedophile. A phobophile would be someone who loves fear. I think it's a great title.

It is like those programs in that you can dl music. But slsk is geared much more towards full albums. people actually organize their files into folders and stuff like that.

Both were inspirational bands during the 80s. Terrorizer influenced much of what has become today's grind scene, and Massacra did much for Death metal, with their neo-classically inspired melodies, seen much in the works of Death and even The Necrophagist.

Some of the best death I have heard:
Decapitated

Naglfar
Atrocity

Def gotta love the Obit; grindcore at its finest.

I do have a tendency to lean more towards the dynamic heavy stuff like early Soilwork, Arch Enemy, Darkane, In Flames (early stuff... dont flame), The Haunted.
At the Gates, Nightrage.

Now that I am thinking of it, I couldn't forget Dissection.
Storm of the Lights Bane and The Somberlain are must have's cd's .
Although they might be classified as more black metal than death metal, their effect on much of the swedish scene is quite apparent.
Very influential, but not too many peeps know about them.

Any Bolt Thrower fans around? Realm of Chaos is great. And has anyone heard of Salem? They're a Israeli band, I think, who sing doomy death metal. It's good stuff. I only have songs off the Kaddish album though.

Oh, before I had Fu.cking the Viscera from BP and Concubine of Despise from MtD. I liked the BP song better so I figured I'd get that.I'm quite the Gorgasm fan, but I only have BP. Hard to find out about them on the net though.

Hi there!
If you have:
1. An interest ro record demo
2. Death/black/thrash metal vocal,
3. Good understanding of PC recording,
4. Access to DAW/mic/mic pre at home or studio,
5. ISDN/DSL/Cable/T1 internet connection,
6. And liked Enisey.mp3 (http://www.wildernessband.com/Enisey.mp3) or just have comments about it

then drop me an e-mail at reieev@verizon.net

Little about myself... Used to play original music in death-metal band a while ago. Now I work 9 to 5 Mon-Fri, but still mess around with Cubase, M-Audio and my beloved Charvel guitar. Influences: Septic Flesh, Dimmu Borgir, My Dying Bride, Satyricon, Rotting Christ, At The Gates...

Cheers!

Bolt Thrower were one of the first extreme metal bands I heard, ages ago. I don't yet have any albums of theirs, though.

sounds, fun granpa fat. im think its ok to post that here too, methodlessman, he would get more responses here anyway it seems.

Does anyone know the history or have a website that explains the history of black metal?
I'm interested in knowing what the defenitions of the "waves" or black metal are.

you'll like them

they are good
Bartender, Watain owns. I'm pretty sure they have some songs on their webpage.
I would kill, literally, to see them with Dissection. Why must i lived in this cursed land known as the U.S.
If Jon doesn't bring Dissection over here, i will die.

Good stuff. I think I'll have to track down their latest album then.

A good album. Not as good as Mental Funeral IMHO, but still an awessome good album. Always in the same old Autopsy vein, mid-paced with some crunching slow parts. Service for a Vacant Coffin is my favorite on the album.

I prefer Severed Survival myself. In fact, it's my favourite death metal album! Disgusting, sick death metal at it;'s best! Critical Madness is an all time classic.

Although Mental Funeral is class too.
