Well unless some of them don't play, this looks like Per Ardua's trade tracklist;

Arghoslent - The Purging Fires of War
Forest of Shadows - Wish
Arghoslent - Hereditary Taint
Cult of Luna - Circle
Theory in Practice - This Town Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us
Goat Horn - Rotten Roll
Quo Vadis - Silence Calls the Storm
The Meads of Asphodel - A Healer Made God
Theory in Practice - Colonising the Sun
Fields of Elysium - Waning Moons in a Haunted Sky
Immolation - Those Left Behind
Farmakon - Loosely of Amoebas
Einstürzende Neubauten - Salamandrina
Ludovici Einaudi - Nefeli
Cynic - How Could I

Some of those (the duplication of Arghoslent and Theory in Practice, Farmakon) weren't originally on there, but some other tracks (a Grand Belial's Key track and a Korrozia Metalla track) had errors copying, so I put those on as replacements in an attempt to catch the post office (which failed). So, sorry about that.

Lilpete-

I've started a playlist for your cd. So far the tracks I'm throwing around are:

Pantokrator - Blod Kopar Fran Jorden
Absu - Phase One_Iolanach's Pedagogy - Pillars Of Mercy
Aeba - Between Wrath And Anguish
Axis Of Perdition - To Walk Toe Corridoors Of Hell
Axis Of Perdition - Reflections Of The Underdark
Behemoth - Christians To The Lions
Blodsrit - The Glorious Rise Of The Flames
Blood Red Throne - Mary Whispers Of Death
Eisregen - Deutschland In Flammen
Eisregen - Farbenfinsternis - Kap. 1-Vorboten
Graveland - Barbarism Returns
Grimfist - Primal Aggression
Grimfist - Outlined In Black
Hypocrisy - Legions Decend
Immolation - Father, You're Not A Father
Kataklysm - Laments Of Fear And Despair
Marduk - Darkness Breeds Immortality
Moonblood - Blut Und Krieg
Tsjuder - Kill For Satan

Among others. I've got to weed out some stuff and possibly add in some other stuff (I won't put more than 1 song per band), but that's it for now.

LordDargon

Cryptopsy: The production is horrible, but I think that's the point. They're having a good time doing whatever it is they're doing, it's too ballistic to really call it 'making music'. They are the antithesis of the 'cash-cow': no producer or record exec in his/her right mind would encourage this over the will of the band; their music is all theirs (there's probably no producer on board anyway). Listening to Cryptopsy may be the "aural equivalent to being hit in the head with a brick" (thx BWBK guys!!!), but it's entertaining and fun, certainly not to be taken seriously, but good nonetheless! Thumbs up for Cryptopsy!

What an idiot. Fu.ck. Fu.ck. Fu.ck. Fu.ck. Fu.ck. Get me a paper bag, I'm gonna be sick.

I've been listening to Cult of Luna quite a bit recently, and I wanted some similar stuff. So I've just bought;
Axis of Perdition - The Ichneumon Method
Botch - An Anthology of Dead Ends

I'm starting to like this (very) general are of music - strange, heavy and bleak. It's a really badly defined "genre", so bear with me. Other bands I've been looking at are;
Pelican
Peccatum
Isis
Neurosis
..and Jarboe

Could anyone recommend whether any of those are any good? Recommended releases? Any bands I'm especially missing out on? Also, any information on The Swans would be nice, as I know nothing about them (even what sort of music they made), other than that Jarboe used to be with them.

Per Ardua - sent your CD today (apologies for the tatty packaging).

Nice. I haven't even burnt yours yet, but it'll be sent away by Thursday at the latest, as i'm gonna be quite busy this week and my computer is being a retard.

On another note, you should really check out Peccatum. I have "Lost in Reverie" and it's very good. It consists of Ihsahn (of Emperor) and his wife Ihriel, they both do vocals at points in the album. There are points in the album where it is black metal and then all of a sudden the music will change to some soft ambient arrangement, they use piano's extensively in the soft part. It's good album, 7.5/10.

After reading more Lovecraft, I must agree with greg that he is God. So I'm making a new MX clan/religion thingy - Lovecraftianism. If you wanna join in just stick "Lovecraftianist" in your status.

There was a good article on Lovecraft in the June issue of Fortean Times, well worth a read...
Yeah, Unavoidable, most of his work is to be found in "compilations" of his many short stories, like "Dagon & other Macabre Tales" etc...
His work reinvented horror writing & has influenced not only music, art & film but occult practice itself, as he supposedly "invented" the existence of the fabled Necronomicon.
Good stuff = The Call of Cthulu, Herbet West - Reanimator, The Unnamable, At The Mountains Of Madness, The Dunwich Horror, Through The Gates Of The Silver Key, etc...

His works were expanded on by a chap called August Derleth, check him out! (Although many other horror writers have also added to the Cthulu Mythos...)

If you like Lovecraft check out the works of one of his mates, Clarke Ashton Smith...

I want my first post to contain the lyrics of Accept - Son of a Bitch

Son Of A Bitch

You make the stars
Illusions and dreams
You're what you are
D'you know what I mean

I hear you clear
See in your eyes
Lying to please
It pleases to lie

You say it's your way
You say we'll make it right to the top
Your bull**** gets me
What have you got

I don't believe
A word you say
You make me laugh
Get outta my way

You say it's your way
Now listen to what I think of you:

Son of a bitch Kiss my ***
Son of a bitch Son of a bitch You asshole Son of a bitch
**** suckin' mother****er I was right - take this

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh

Son of a bitch Kiss my ***
Son of a bitch, ...

Son of a bitch you asshole
Son of a bitch, ...

Cut you three times below the *** to short to ****
Two timing son of a dog

Anyone who doesn't know the song, get it now!
80's metal at its finest!

80's metal at its FINEST?! Someone wasn't around for the days of thrash metal it seems, possibly even missed the entire Priest and Maiden years as well.

Also, not totally death/black/doom, but does anyone have any experience with www.lasercd.com? A Solid Vision of What has Risen at Hand
We Will Come Forth and Raise Our Fists
Salute Metal's Command
So Raise Your Flask Towards the Fortunous Sky
Dream out Upon, Forever Strong We Will Rise
A Force As One Has Band Together Realize
You Can't Stop Goat Horn - You'll Just Meet Your Demise

We (We Are) The Rotten Roll Revolution
With The Ultimate Solution
For Our Glorious Shrine
That You Cannot Deny

Ya Now Who Has Come to Survive
We Have a Nation on a Mission - Of Course, Can't Deny
We're on Our Way As Promised Lands They Arise
A Threatening Force Collecting Cries
Driving All Waste Aside
Now Riding Free Our Land Has Shifted the Tide
Before All War We Stand Forever The False Shall Subside
Break Like the Wind and Sail the Waves Full of Pride
Our Breath Shall Never Settle
For We are Made of Heavy Metal

We (We Are) The Rotten Roll Revolution
We've Got the Ultimate Solution
And Our Glory Will Shine

Did they ever do a review of the unsilence record in terrorizer?

They said:

"Beset by frustrating label difficulties over their seven-year existence, Unsilence have cut out the middleman and released their own MCD. 'Transfiguration" is very much in the northern doom vein, as typified by the likes of My Dying Bride and Anathema, but by now they have developed their own take on the genre. The vocals can be a little samey but the riffage and the use of violin create an effective air of sadness. "

There is a review of "A Walk through Oceans" but I can't find it at the moment. It wasn't that good actually (6.5/10) mainly because they gave the CD to some hardcore guy to review. Surprisingly he didn't like it.

i don't know about arcturus and darkthrone but bathory was a one man group with too many instrument/vocal parts for a live performance...and Quorthon is now dead. bathory did do a few live shows in the 80's though, back when it was a 3 piece.

Darkthrone has done a few live shows. Mostly small local pubs and such. But they stopped. Fenriz did an interview some years ago where he said that Darkthrone just wasn't a band that did live shows. I forget his reasoning though. Varg has performed live before, just not as Burzum. I don't know of any live Burzum gigs. I think he played some gigs with Old Funeral, and a few small gigs with Mayhem.

now, i have an important message that you may have all seen as my other post:

Aight fools... we all know that the Death Heads thread has revolutionized the online metal underground... kinda. well... how about we take the next step, and go outside of the box into reality.

Angeldeath wants to start an underground unsigned band tape trade/distro: Bands send each other their demos, cds, tapes, shirts....anything in exchange for other band's merch, and then sell them at shows. That way, were helping expose each other all over the place, plus were getting some cash in our pockets which is cool too.

SO. Any/all people who play in bands that are definitely metal, no ****ing genre exclusion... any and all metal, post your email/contacts here and what your band has, and then lets get the underground revolution started again.

I have short hair. Who gives a sh1t? I'd look like Shane Embury if I grew it long.

Certainly don't want that.

Anyone remember that terrorizer interview with Lock-up in Japan, when Shane having sex with Briana Banks was compared to dropping a peanut down a well? That was classic.

****. Long story, my girlfriend of six months split up with me on a street corner before we were all about to go out. I took it pretty hard and I got incredibly drunk last night and I did some pretty stupid things and everyone on this holiday now hates me for what i did. I´m completely alone in a foreign country with no one at all to talk to and nothing to do as I can´t go back to my hotel room (they kick you out early on the day your leaving) i have to wait 6 more hours till the bus gets here to take me to the airport. I am burnt to a fry its 30 degrees out side. And to top it all off I have the squits

To be honest, that's been the least of my worries. It's taking the combined powers of Candlemass, Celtic Frost, Solitude Aeturnus and Solstice to just keep me going! That in combination with a 30 a day habit and copious amounts of caffeine!

You just have to tough these things out. One thing I have learnt over two weeks of hell is that you're tougher than you think. You won't break unless you let yourself be broken. Going off the rails for a night isn't irredeemable- just a fairly natural reaction to a bad situation. I'll send you my CD of "fcuk the lot of em" music if you want - I'm calling it the Crown Prosecution Service mix!

Btw Ayreon for those who haven't heard....have released their latest album with a bunch of guest musicians including Mikael Akerfeldt, James LaBrie, Devin Townshend, and more...
There are two female singers who sound incredible as well, and the latest album (The Human Equation) is a concept.
Their sound ranges from operatic power metal to neo-classical sounding prog to soft celtic passages followed by death metal...
This is just how I hear it...

I think it's really rarely re-issued by them. Check the back of the case? (if it says something like Copyright 1993-2002 or whatever, I think it's a re-issue, whereas copyright 1993 wouldn't be. That's my understanding of reissues, correct me if I'm wrong).

Classic ROADRUNNER Albums To Be Reissued! - Dec. 13, 2002
DISINCARNATE's acclaimed full-length debut, "Dreams Of The Carrion Kind", and CYNIC's ground-breaking first (and only) effort, "Focus", are two of the previously-deleted classic albums that are being reissued by Roadrunner Records Japan on Dec. 18.

The complete list of albums being re-released is as follows:

01. OBITUARY - Slowly We Rot
02. OBITUARY - Cause Of Death
03. OBITUARY - The End Complete
04. OBITUARY - World Demise
05. DEICIDE - Deicide
06. DEICIDE - Legion
07. CYNIC - Focus
08. MALEVOLENT CREATION - Retribution
09. MALEVOLENT CREATION - Stillborn
10. DISINCARNATE - Dreams Of The Carrion Kind

This article is about two years old, but my copy of Focus has no mention of 2002 on it...

Me and my band getting a demo together this summer. Yes, for those of you who heard Silver, don't worry, we've lost that sort of sound, even I admit that song was cheesy.
We've changed to sort of industrial death/doom metal, we don't have any of our new material available at the moment, as we haven't been able to record for a while because of college/work, but now the summer break is dawning, we'll be getting together to record our demo. We've been practising our stuff by ourselves in our free time. I'm not sure yet whether it'll be live drums on the demo, or programmed, reason being our drummer dissappears and re-appears, plus he doesn't have two bass drums, which we need, seen as most of the drum tracks I've written have double bass drumming, I can double bass drum not super fast, but quite fast, I've got some good drum samples though, so if we do program the drums it'll sound OK.
As soon as we do some new material, I'll post it up here, please don't judge the new stuff on what our first song Silver was like:lol:

You don't need to bass drums, to do double bass. You can have one bass drum with a double pedal which works better in my opinion.
