graveworm was the band that got me into metal, so naturally i love them. their cover of fear of the dark is amazing. check out their songs (if you already haven't) decending into ethereal mist, demonic dreams and behind the curtain of darkness. all excellent songs

I'm not banned. I just wrote it in my status. Mainly because I wondered whether you could - as you can't have administrator or moderator.
If you want really slow doom metal, go to www.doom-metal.com and search the band list for funeral doom. But don't blame if it's crap. Listen to some St Vitus!

And also, do they use a drum machine, or just a wildman?
Jondur

I'm most miffed that I'm going to miss Deicide and Akercocke tomorrow night. And I missed Desecration last night.
From that metal fest I know Detrimentum well. The two guitarists come to Wacken with us. The drummer also plays in Gorerotted. Basically they're brutal death metal but with a very dark vibe. They also have some nice melody in there.
Diamanthium were Cannibal Corpse style death metal - used to have a great guy on bass called Mad Mick. A very drunken scouser. Think he's left now though. I haven't heard anything by them since I moved dahn sarf.
Desolation I think are dutch and play melodic death.
Apart from that I've not heard any of the others.

Also you might like brutal thrash like Reign in Blood, Darkness Descends, Slaughter in the Vatican (search for those albums on Metal-Archives)
Also, Broken Hope - Swamped in Gore is supposed to be similar, but I haven't heard it and cant vouch for it. Cardboard Headgear will hopefully notice your post, he'll be able to tell you some more stuff.

I'd recommend Autopsy - Chris Reifert (drums/Vox) actually played drums on Scream Bloody Gore - similar sick, twisted, slow to mid-paced death metal with raw production and ace songs.
Check out the song 'Critical Madness' - THIS is what death metal is about - zombies!!!!!!

I didn't mean they are rubbish or anything, they make me laugh.
It's cool how on the intro to Only Tools And Corpses has the snare drumbeat that the song on Only Fools And Horses does, kinda like a parody.
On an unrelated note, there's some tab I can't find, if anyone knows this, let me know, it's a song by Ulver, called "Graablick Watches Her Closely", the intro has this folk guitar thing, I can't figure the riff out or find a tab anywhere.

Grand Belial's Key - Mocking the Philanthropist
I've only listened to the bottom two so far. Theory in Practice is excellent. Does anyone know or like Grand Belial's Key? I got GBK after hearing comparisons to Arghoslent, and so far it seems pretty good, though Arghoslent is still beating it quite spectacularly.

"BATHORY mastermind Tomas "Quorthon" Forsberg was found dead in his apartment in Stockholm, Sweden on Monday, June 7, informed sources have confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. The 39-year-old son of Black Mark Records owner Börje Forsberg, long considered one of black metal's founders, died of an apparent heart failure. More information as it becomes available. "
Now I don't know if this is true or not, I'd like to believe it isn't, but if it is, the metal world has lost a great individual.

I've used it quite a bit. I got my Thus Defiled albums from eBay, I got my Frozen Shadows albums from eBay, I got a few Graveland original pressings from eBay. Plus a bunch of other misc. albums and a few non-music related items. I've bid on a few original pressings of old Cradle of Filth, Burzum, Mayhem and other such bands. But I always get outbid. There was an auction for both Burzum's Aske EP and his debut album...both on Death Like Silence productions if I remember correctly. Akercocke are ace. People get put off by the theatrics and the slightly overblown nature of some of their music but under all that there is some amazing old school death metal riffs! Which is why I love them - they're built on a foundation of Possessed and Death!

They cancelled the whole tour. Although they're going to do the US tour after. They cancelled because they're rock star idiots. They decided they wanted more money from the booking agent, then after they got it they wanted more. Apparently the tour bus air con also wasn't working - which considering they're from Florida and it ain't really that hot here is a bit of a joke!
I love the band (well the first album anyway) but they are fools.

Bullshit. There's nothing satanic behind it at all. The guy forced himself into Gaahl's apartment, Gaahl kicked his ***. Basically, he's being judged and sent to jail because of earlier violence covictions, peaking with this one. I got this from several sources, most notably, from the man himself. There's allways two sides to a story.

Fear the Return! I would love to see just Jon up on stage, that would absolute class! I hope they come to America so much.

Even though they aren't any kind of extreme metal, has anyone in here listened to The Human Equation by Ayreon? What a great album.

I went up to the London Deathfest yesterday, got there in time to catch Cadaverous Condition, Caducity, Desecration, Cancer and Vader. I was pretty impressed by all of them really, the sound was good and the bands were very tight. Vader were the best band of the night for me, but Cancer were so good as well, great stuff.

@PerAd: The reason I´m done so fast is cause I was mixing a sampler for a friend anyways and had all those mp3s ripped on my PC.Jon got the good stuff :)
@Greg: Hey,is Angeldeath interested in selling their Debut in Germany?Cause a friend of mine´s opening up an underground CD shop in the town I live in and he´d be interested in stocking up on some good non-local metal bands.I could burn it,copy the cover and we split on the sales :)

Most definately. It's got the same feel as The Sound of Persaverance, but not quite as much technicality. The vocals are bitchin. Listen to Breaking The Broken, that song will probably sell you on the band. The first time I heard that song, when the wailing kicked in I just couldn't believe how cool it was.

theres a video for Grim and Frostbitten Kingdoms?!?!? ive gotta see this.... hahahha
...ill bet theres lots of snow, right? and frosty trees and stuff haha
on another note, the angeldeath studio **** for this summer is running into some scheduling conflicts.... it appears we may not be able to go into the studio untill mid August or so.... its gay, but it happens. its alright though. were going to add another track on the disc... an oldie, but succccch a good song. hehe if youve got Screams, ull know the song. hah.... that, and were planning on having a couple instrumentals on the album... so the song list will go something like this:
1. Call of the Ghoul
2. Unholy Ceremonies
3. *mystery song from Screams From Beyond*
4. instrumental segue into...
5. Curse of Enthrallment
then after Curse... were going to do a very very super cool jam between me, Charlie, and Ryan. ryan's going to have some bongos... no real drums. this is for when we get really high.... im going to be doing some acoustic guitarwork, and then me and charlie will jam... hes going to be playing acoustic guitar chords 'n whatnot, and ill be doing some really really sweet trippy melodic clean guitar soloing overtop...
but heres the dilemma we have yet to decide: Curse of Enthrallment ends with the music fading into silence with some feedback and cymbol swells and other cool things.... now, should we lead right into the jam on the same track, or make it a seemless transition into a whole nother track? what do you guys think?
Also, ive got some services to offer all you faithful horde members... ill post that later on, cuz i gotta go rip some bowls 'n stuff... hah

Yeah. I didn't know if there was a sample of him with Marduk out yet or not. I think he'll fit in but I'm impatient so I want to here it now. I don't want to wait until the new album comes out. I'd really like to see them go back to their older style ala Those Of The Unlight, Opus Nocturne.
Greg-Immortal has a couple of videos out. Grim and Frostbitten Kingdoms and Blashyrkh (Mighty Ravendark). And I know there are a bunch of live videos of them as well.

Have all the noises build up into a massive wall of random noise, then slowly fade that out and have a single acoustic guitar fade in at the same time, take it from there.

Enslaved - I lenker till ragnorak
Anvil - Forged in fire
Death Angel - 5 steps to freedom
Gorguts - Obscura
Immolation - Despondant souls
Kataklysm - The Ambassador of pain
Aurora Borealis - Thrice told
Demilich - when the sun drank the weight of water
Dub Buk - Idu Na Wy!
Hollenthon - Lure : Pallida Mors
Lethargy - subtle
Necrophagist - To Breath In A Casket
Quo Vadis - Silence Calls The Storm

Actually, I think I've heard of all of those bands, but I think I've only actualy heard like 2-3 of those songs. And regardless...I'm gonna be happy with a cd no matter what. Even if I'd heard every single song on it, I wouldn't have all of the songs on the same cd. As far as your goes...man I've hardly started it. I've been uber-busy this week. Which...brings me to my next thing...

I love Dub Buk. I've not heard many people raving about them though. Some of the piano parts are a bit over-done I think, but generally, they add to the music nicely. Lots of good riffs, well-written music that doesn't sound old and rehashed. What's not to like?
