I've only just found two bands which have been right under my proverbial nose, and they're both great. Dies Irae and Sceptic. Both bands have Jacek Hiro on guitar, a person whom I have been hunting down since I heard his excellent lead work on Vader's cover of Thin Lizzy's "Angel of Death" found on the Blood MCD. As I said both bands are really good, Dies Irae containing Mauser, Novy and Doc from Vader as well as Hiro, and Sceptic being a more technically aimed style of DM.

So what do people think of these bands? Have you even heard them? If not I'd say they're worth checking out, I think they're both excellent.

I haven't heard very much of their stuff myself, due to a slow connection. So if you find any other prime cuts, let me know.

Human is definately better, allthough quite repetative. Symbolic is more catchy and easy to get into, but Human has more depth IMO. There's also quality drumming on both albums, but I definately like Sean Reinert best.

But yeah, if you can afford it, get both.

Jondur
04-14-2004, 03:54 AM
Symbolic is much more melodic with more acoustic parts etc. The vocals are lighter than their earlier stuff. I actually prefer it to Human which I think is a bit of a halfway house between blood an gore and uber-tech. Both are class though.

Gorerotted were okay, quite funny!
Kataklysm were band of the night, the drummer is s**t-hot.... kinda spoiled it though with a very impressive but kinda pointless drum solo.

Filmed some of CC, but the sound quality is awful so probably won't post any of that.

i could care less about death metal. u cant understand a word they say in their songs

First of all, the saying you were looking for is "I couldn't care less." Not "I could care less."
Secondly, most of us who post in this thread probably CAN understand what they say. It comes with time of listening. Plus, would not being able to understand vocals make you hate a whole genre?
And lastly, why post in here just to tell us that?

hey, glad you're enjoying it. yes, i used fruity loops for the drums; drum programming software. i have a really, really good drummer that i jam with, but i have no way of recording drums very well, and recording would be a much longer process if i chose to record drums. so i just stuck with the 'one-man band'.

Dis-core is bands that sound like Discharge (the seminal UK hardcore punk band who singlehandedly started grind, influenced Metallica, Slayer and quite frankly everyone!)

There are literally hundreds of Dis-core bands - most have names that start with Dis. so Disbelief, Disfear etc. Not a genre I know much about (although I love discharge).

^I tried to find the thread last night, when coypu first came up, and couldn't find them. Just had a quick look now and still can't. Doesn't help that the search engine is restricted to 5 characters and above, so "rape" doesn't work.

I know it exists though, cos I read through the whole thing when MX was ****ing around a while ago. Then, all I did was go to coypu's profile and bring up "other posts made by coypu", and the ones in the rape thread were the last ones he'd made, but they don't seem to be there now. Unless a mod deliberately went and hunted the thread down and deleted it, some 8 months after it was originally closed, I don't know where it's gone.

It's taken out of context. coypu did kind of shove his opinion in people's faces (I remember a post in the thread where he said "I am open minded. It's just that your opinions are wrong, and I see it as my job to correct them"), but I don't think what he was saying was worthy of a ban. In Flames, Devildriver and Caliban.

I'm going for In Flames obviously.

I hope it's good.

Yep, you know your stuff, Pete.

So Devildriver put up a surprisingly good show.

Caliban was good, a little bit one-sided, but pretty good, aggressive.

In flames was great, mostly played newer stuff (Clayman and later) but also a fair amount of older songs. I shaked Ander's hand

And, I was on front row, very close to the stage, for every band.

Which was nice.

Let us talk labels! Good labels... bad labels...etc.
My hat is constantly tipped to Willowtip and Razorback Records... they never seem to disappoint. Great distros too.

I agree with both of those. Also of considerable repute are
Bloodsoaked (www.bloodsoaked.net)
Obscene (www.obscene.cz)
Shindy (www.shindy.cz) (who stock the mighty Contrastic)

I know about 50 Black Metal ones too, however I don't feel like listing them all, so I will just go with the best, namely:
Total Holocaust (www.thr.cjb.net)
Vinland Winds (www.vinlandwinds.com) Even if they are ****ing expensive.

So with this latest round of tape trades are we posting the tracklists we're sending out? Or are the people we send them to posting? Neither? Anything?

As far as labels go, all the ones you guys alread said are good. There are a few others that I've got written down but now that I'm looking for them I can't find them and I can't remember them.

Sounds like you need to hear some Suffocation. Best 'brutal' death band ever.

I'm going to check out some Death tomorrow (payday)

I bought Cannibal Corpse - Butchered at Birth the other day, it's great. It's a remastered version, and it's got a video of 'Covered with Sores' which is pretty nuts.

I have really no idea why Atheist and Cynic are so closely related. Everyone else that I know compares the two, which is pretty much the reason why I do it. They both fall under the technical/progressive category, but I don't see how Cynic are death metal. I'm getting Unquestionable Presence from a mate soon, which should be good.
