Hey if you like bands like Cryptopsy and the like, you should really check out Nile and Suffocation, top notch bands.

I'm glad I have you guys to talk about DM with, because every person at my school despises DM and Black Metal too, and no one will give it a chance either, but oh well it's their loss. In fact, just the other night, I was talking to some kid, and he kept insisting that Black Label Society and Megadeth were heavier than Cryptopsy and Carcass. Then he went on saying how it's not hard to sing like they do, and he could easily do it. And just to make all of this even better, this was coming from a kid that listens to Blink 182 and every other pop-punk band imaginable. Hhhmm..I really hate my school...

My favorites are Heavan Shall Burn...When We Are Gathered, Opus Nocturne and Those Of The Unlight. Panzer Division Marduk (album with Fist****ing God's Planet) is very aggressive, very fast and brutal, but it gets boring. The songs just seem to run together. La Grande Danse Macabre is pretty good as well. World Funeral (their newest) is ok. I guess for all intensive purposes, I'd say get either Heavan Shall Burn or Those Of The Unlight.

Alrighty, ill take your word on that one. After i finish my x-mas shopping i will order it. :thumb:

Can you order one for me too? Come on, where's your Christmas spirit? Remember, it's better to give than it is to take. :D

Yeah, my high school sucks. The first week of school though, I saw a kid with a Blind Guardian shirt. That was a big surprise,.

Didn't take long before the first wave of spammers eh? Soon it'll be all "Wow this is big" again...

Some heavy My Dying Bride songs (for Chimaira):

Your River
Return of the Beautiful
The Fever Sea
The Dreadful Hours
I am the Bloody Earth

Speaking of heavy doom bands - my new band are doing a gig in February with Esoteric, Moss, Trollman Ad iltoppelberg (or something along those lines!), Indenisence - now that is heavy!

HAHAHA! That just made my day, thanks mate. Those kind of comments are often made by 14 year old teens(NOTE: Not saying that you're one.). Please, no one is forcing you to look at this thread. No one is forcing you to be here. If you don't like the god**** thread just don't post in it.

Anyway, why are you here if you have a "real life"? Hmm? How do you know we don't have one?
For some reason, I have more spare time on my hands than I used to. Anyway, I'm 18, and school just isn't as difficult when you're a senior in the rural midwest.

This sucks. I'm home sick from work with pneumonia. I'm having to hide out in the basement so I don't get the wife or daughter sick. I'm contagious for 24-48 hours after I start the antibiotics. Maybe I'll get my hard drive organized today. I think I've only got about 1000 files left (out of about 3500 to start with).

some key bands you'll need to check out....

Mayhem
Burzum
Darkthrone
Emperor
Marduk
Satyricon

those are just starting points, as there is tons of excellent black metal to hear

if you really want a variety, then check out www.blackmetalradio.com

email me your address (jonathon_gibbs@hotmail.com) and I'll send you the demo. It's two songs - each between 8 and ten minutes long. If you're desperate to buy it it's £2.50!

Quite chuffed at the moment because it's getting really good reviews including a 9/10 from The Miskatonic Forum. This probably means nothing to most of you but the reason why it means a lot is because the guy who did the review was none other than Solstice mainman Rich Walker. Nothing better than getting praise from your peers.

Show Me On The Doll - Grapefruit

Dismember: Like an Everlowing Stream
Suffocation: Effigy of the Forgotten
Immolation: Dawn of Possession
Cannibal Corpse: Tomb of the Mutilated
Carcass: Necrotism - Descanting the Insalubrious

LegionsofMarduk
12-19-2003, 06:00 AM
No Danzig isn't doom metal. Unless he's gone through some extremely drastic changes since I last heard him.

Mortification has changed a lot over the years. They started as more grindcore then moved more towards straight up death. I haven't heard anything recent of theirs, but I've heard others say they softened up quite a bit and aren't that good anymore. I'd say check out Scrolls Of The Megiloth and their self titled album. Post Momentary Affliction is ok as well.

NP: nothing actually. I just got to work. But I've had Graveland - Battle Of Wotans Wolves on my mind since I woke up so that' probably what I'm going to play first.

AmonAmarth
12-19-2003, 06:03 AM

LegionsofMarduk
12-19-2003, 06:07 AM
He's made a few decent tracks, but nothing I'd pay $15 for the entire album for. I was going to go see him a couple years ago because Marduk was supposed to be touring with him. But they couldn't get their passports (green cards, visa's...whatever they're called) stamped at the US consulate's office in Sweden.

The Baphomet Horde will welcome all those who know their metal and will stand as an ally with any other clans in the fight against false metal (apart from the circle of bards who are a bunch of puffs!)

Am working up towards two gigs in the new year at the moment - Jan 8th in Lewisham SE London with Cambian Dawn and Throne of Aaz, then Feb 28th in Bradford with Esoteric, Moss, Trollman and Indesinence. Should be good as it's been a long time since my last gig in March!

Well you've got the third best Candlemass album so now you need to pick up Nightfall and Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. Another classic is Solitude Aeturnus "Adagio" and Solstice "New Dark Age"

ok, i put them on my order list. Also, i have Celtic Frost's "to mega theroin" and need to order another one of those as well, i know they are your second favourite band so i thought youd be one to ask.

Haha, it was a little joke man. But personally I don't really like much Black Metal, some Immortal and Emporer, but mainly it's all death/thrash metal here.

hmm i thought this dvd was okay...but there are some things that would make it better

1. they didnt play the world burns! This song has some great pedal point riffs and its just plain annoying that they missed it out (presumably because the cd version has talking on it).

2. The drum solo ISNT very good. To be honest i was expcting something better from Per moller jensen, i mean all the solo is is continuous double bass with some slow tom drumming over the top. Not very impressive at all.

3. they blatently should have released a dvd that contained material from One Kill Wonder.

ok. i'm an extreme metalhead dude. finally a nice thread to post in.

best DM bands would be (and i think the majority of oyu could agree, and i probably missed some too):
Cannibal Corpse
Dying Fetus
Cryptopsy
Benidiction
Shadowsfall (leaning towards nu, but still good)
Children Of Bodom (good stuff, and surprise surprise! a newer band!)
Hypocrisy
Arch Enemy

by the way, cannibal corpses newest CD is awesome. run to your store and get it. or do whatever, just listen to it. more classics are gonna be added to their list such as songs like "when death replaces life" and "dormant bodies bursting." they also did a metallica cover of "no remorse" for the hidden track. also, in the song "Mutation Of The Cadaver" george belts out a 14 second long scream! i give it a good 9/10. you should check it out

Well ****. Can't believe I was internet-less just as v2.0 started up. I know I wasn't all that involved in the first thread, but it would've been nice to get a post in the first 10 pages...

I was wondering how long it would take Cynic to get a mention...does anyone know of a site which sells Focus, as I've downloaded but I really want a hard copy and can't find one anywhere:upset:. Also, anyone who hasn't heard their demo "Dwellers of the Threshold" should attempt to - it doesn't match up to anything on Focus, but its still pretty good (and theres little in the way of those digi-vocals people seem to have a hard time liking).

One more quick question - I know they're not death or black metal, but I was wondering if anyone else likes a british band called Labrat, and if anyone can tell me what they "should" be classified as? They play the same kind of stuff as Murder One and Iron Monkey; not death or black, but still extreme.

Children of Bodom - Follow The Reaper
Exodus - Bonded By Blood
Testament - The Gathering

Vortigon
12-25-2003, 08:59 PM
Testament's The Gathering is truly a mighty album in my humble opinion. Crushingly heavy, fast, and atmospheric. But then I'd expect no less with Dave Lombardo, Steve DiGiorgio and James Murphy all in one place.
My recommendation for a CF album would be Morbid Tales, as, although many consider To Mega Therion a better album, I appreciate the simpler heaviness approach on the first cd.
As for ****ed In Black, I want that album myself, but I'm building my Immortal collection chronalogically.

That's Darkthrone my man. From "A Blaze in the Northern Sky". And it does have lyrics.

Where Cold Wings Blow I (was) laid to Rest
I Can not reach my Rusty Weapons
the Blood and Sword that Guided my Path
for they Drowned in the Sands of Wisdom

I was, indeed, a King of the Flesh
My Blackened Edges; still they were Sharp
Honoured by the Carnal Herds
but asketh thou: Closed are the Gates?

My Mind cut my Winged Weapons
and Teeth that was my Pride
And from the Forest all would hear:
"Wisdom Opens the Gate for the King"

My Weapons Sighted - My Tears they Tasted
Summon my Warriors - To the Land of Desire
To the Domain of Hate - Where Cold Winds Blew
For Lust for Hell - We Rode with the North Wind

Only I could accomplish a ****en Self-deceit
There are only Two Paths - the Mind or the Sword
And the Mind was Open like the Sights in a Dream
But the Sword was like a Stone around my neck

I Entered the Soul of the Snake
and Slept with the Armageddish Whore
(but) without my Throne and my Weapons;
Where Cold Winds Blow became my Grave
