omg...Chris Barnes is turning into a ****ing *****...the new Six Feet under cd is like..too...dunno, like he was TRYING to sing! I am still upset with opeths ATTEMP for a soft cd...Deliverence is the best to me...I think its a decent idea to mix Hardcore and Death metal..as long as they dont try to pull a Poison the Well and growl..sing..growl..and so on..As I lay Dying is the best mix of the 2 and NEone heard NEthing from the Black Dahlia Murder?? Interesting..its like 2 singer, Death metal AND Black metal..

If we're talking "The Gallery" and "The Minds I" then yeah, you can count me in.
Went to see Evoken, Desire and Officium Triste in London last night for some brutal doom death. However it was not to be as the promoter did a runner with all the takings leaving the bands with no food, drink or hotel. Why must there be rip-offs everywhere? Even in such a tiny scene where noone makes any money? So anyway I saw 25 minutes of Officium Triste before this news came to light - a long way and a lot of money for 25 minutes!

i dunno if anyone has mentioned them yet but wat about nile???
Nile in my opinion are the best death metal band around at the moment. Karl Sanders is like a ****ing god in the death metal industry. Niles guitar work, drumming, growls, its insane! their lyrics are all based on ancient egypt and their last 2 albums even have the meanings to all the songs on the albums. for a band to even include meanings to songs in their album booklets shows just how dedicated they r their music.
for those of u who havent hear nile i strongly recommend 'in their darkened shrines'
wat about melodic death metal? u cant take anything away from bands like in flames, dark tranquillity, opeth (especially opeth!!!) they have given us some of the best death metal ever whether it is different to real death metal or not.
and children of bodom arent death metal. i see them more as scandinavian black metal or something close to that. no way r they detah metal.
amorphis, now they were a great death metal band in their early days, except they arent death metal anymore though

I just finished watching L.A. Dragnet and there were all kinds of references to black metal!!! There was a murder. And one of the girls friends was wearing an Old Man's Child shirt. Then later in the show when the cops went back to her house, she had an In Defiance Of Existance poster on her door, the cover to Dark Funeral's Diabolis Interium as her computer desktop, Marduk, and Immortal posters. Then in one of her police interviews she said "My Name's not...(whatever it was)...it's Euronomous."!!! And there were a couple more references to him! There were other black metal references, but those are all I can rememebr right now. I just thought I'd share that pointless bit of information.

But amazing album, definitely worth getting for everyone who likes good tight death metal. One of my favourites, that one, and IMO much better than the follow up, Nihility, although that is also a fine DM album.
Also, check out Soulreaper (http://www.soulreaper.tk/), the death metal band formed by some of Dissecton's members after they left. Pretty good intense stuff, and if you can find it, download their cover of Morbid Angel's "Fall From Grace", its great :thumb:

I usually don't like death metal, I heard "Devoured By Vermin" by Cannibal Corpse and I couldn't even understand what was being played, it sounded like a loud buzz with a super fast drum beat, and a cookie monster voice that didn't speak english until he said "Devoured..By Vermin". But after listening to In Flames, I think I have come to respect Death metal more.

I'm having a difficult time resisting the urge to castrate you.
Anywho...How can you get tired of Elvenefris!? I'm not listening to it 24/7 anymore, but I'm certainly not tired of it. Hmmm...Have you heard the new Zyklon album "Aeon"? I haven't listened to the entire thing yet, but what I have had time to listen to has been pretty good. I'll assume you've heard Exhumed newest, "Anatomy Is Destiny." That's what I'm listening to right now and I'm really enjoying it. One band I almost never see mentioned is Lucifer. Their album "Watching The Christians Burn" is one of my favorites. And I finally got the rest of The Black Dahlia Murder's album "Unhallowed." Gotta admit...it's pretty good. I dunno...I'm sure Jondur/Terminal will have plenty of stuff.

Elvenefris - I still am though :D It's still one of the greatest extreme albums of all time, but because I've heard the songs so many times that they lack the 'OH MY ****ING GOD!!!' punch they had for the first 500 listens.
Aeon - It's a great album. It's my third 'buy when have money' CD, after Elvenefris (I still haven't got enough dosh for it :upset: ) and Sing & Play. But I might get it first because S&P is about Ł30 imported
Anatomy Is Destiny - \m/ It's just gnarly as ****. Grotesqueries is just a genius piece of metal.
Unhallowed - Gah. Would have been bearable if it wasn't for the singers horrible voice. I mean, even though growling and rasping and such is forced, this sounds like he's imitating it for a comedy band.
Cheers anyway, but I will try Lucifer :thumb:

Oh dear - things are bad...
I'd recommend you try:
Hollenthon - Where Vilest of Worms do Dwell
The Necrophagist - Onset of Putrefaction
Vital Remains - Dechristianize
Psychomancer - Si-Ko-Man-Sur
Those are the albums recently that have blown me away.
(ps I know they're not recent releases)
Maybe you should go back to the old classics:
Obituary: Cause of death
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Suffocation: Effigy of the Forgotten
Immolation: Dawn of Possession (the new one "Unholy Cult" is pretty nifty)
Morbid Angel: Blessed are the Sick
Dismember: Like an Everflowing Stream
Grave: Into the Grave
Hypocrisy: Abducted
Gorguts: Obscura
Atheist: Unquestionable Presence

Johan sings on Possessed 13, not Thomas. And I'm **** glad he does. Johan is far superior for The Crown's music.
i just got that one excurses song on mp3.com it sounds good. sounds a lot liek in flames htough.
I may be melodic death metal, but it doesn't sound like In Flames. Perhaps some like Whoracle era In Flames, but not overly.

i just checked out the new Zyklon yesterday. pretty good. sounds to me like an updated, more brutal version of Emperor without all the cheesey keyboards and such. a worthy cd nonetheless.
also, i watched the CoF PanDaemonAeon video or whatever...ehnn... ive come to the conclusion that CoF isnt all that bad, but they HAVE to get rid of Dani Filth. hes just...ehh....no. ease up on the cheese factor, and this band could have good potential.

I did notice it actually, but not for quite a while after it was posted. And I couldn't remember who'd posted it (due to lazyness in the face of going back a few pages), so I posted my post in the hopes of flushing said poster (you) out and making people talk about Bolt Thrower.
And Realms Of Chaos and Mercenary are great, I want to buy Honour, Valour, Pride soon though, because I heard a couple of tracks off it and Bolt Thrower with Dave Ingram is just bound to be great anyway.

Don't spell like a 12 year old AOL'er. Cradle Of Filth hasn't been death metal since Total ****ing Darkness. When you've overcome the musical ignorance, come back. But with a different user name as by now you've probably made enough of a fool of yourself that you'll never get any respect. That's it. Piss off and die now. :thumb:
And to make the post a little more legit...I got Leng Tch'e - Man Made Predator the other day. Sick grind from Belgium. Not the best out there, but not too bad. Pretty short cd though. 19 songs, but it only clocks in at about 30 minutes.

so any way, got a load of new (actually used if you want to get technical...) cd's today
As Hope Dies: legions bow to a faceless god, and birthplace and burial sight. They are both great
Grey Skies fallen: Fate of Angels. This what i call music, as long as i'm not in the mood for something fast that is
Callenish Circle: flesh Power Dominion. Not quite as good as my passion..... but still pretty good stuff
Misey Index - Retaliate. This is pretty good stuf, but a bit too monotonous. Its hard to tell where one song ends and another begins sometimes.
Torchure: essence
Coercion: forever Dead
and last and definately not least, Deacpitated: winds of creation. very possibly my new favourite CD.
On another note, i downloaded Demigod: slumber of the sullen eyes
and Enter Self: awaken in agony. Both really great (especially the demigod, that album is a ****in classic).

Yes. For lack of a better definition. Both have their roots in DM although both have branched out somehwhat.

i figured. alot of the older stuff (luv it) is very death metal like, yet the newer stuff is more corish and thrasher, which isn't really bad neccesarily, in fact i perfer some of the newer meshuggah over some of the old, but watever thats me.
i luv carcass man, they kick so much a$$. anyone hear the song heartwork?? :)

Nothing wrong with Ramses. And Corporal Jigsore Quandary is a classic, I think I like every single riff in that song, even the ridiculously atonal one. Good solos too. Its just great.

Wulfhere demo? I'm not even sure what the demo might be. Rising Tides can be found atWarhorn (http://www.warhornrecords.net/english/main.htm) You might be able to find it at Clawhammer (http://members.odinsrage.com/clawhammer) , but thier site isn't working for me.

I tried getting Warhorn's website, but it wouldn't come up. Actually though, almost immediatly after I posted that I found Wulfhere's site and an e-mail address so I e-mailed the guy and he's going to send me Rising Tides for $4. Thanks though. Maybe I'll try Warhorn again because there is going to be a split cd with Wulfhere and Darkthule. And when the guy e-mailed me back, he said he's got a bit more work on it, but Wulfhere's next album will be available in the coming months.

I finally heard "Aeon" the other day. Pretty intense stuff, pretty much what I always thought Emperor should be once they'd moved away from the primitive side of black metal. But they always seemed to ruin it with ridiculous operatic bits. So yeah, I like the new Zyklon, I might even have to buy it.
Pissing Razors are pretty good, I have "Fields of Disbelief" and although not my favourite album, it's still entertaining every once in a while. My favourite tracks are probably "You'll Never Know" and "Sever The Ties".
I was also just thinking that Vader are pretty great but don't get discussed very much around the forum, and this thread, except for their cover of "Raining Blood" (which admittedly is great). So yeah, Vader, everyone like? or not?

No kiding - I saw them at Wacken and they were atrocious! All "Jump the **** up!" and gay dancing.
And they didn't even look like they enjoyed playing their old stuff.
I however will ALWAYS treasure my memories of seeing At The Gates live! Tompa was an excellent frontman while the rest of the band were more just headbanging - but the energy they produced was just amazing.

Rubbish. Freedom Call (vomits) are power metal - Opeth are prog death metal.
Fetus are OK - I enjoy them but they don't come close to the likes of Autopsy, Carcass, Lykathea Aflame, Morbid Angel, Demigod, Entombed, Dismember etc.

What the **** are you talking about, Death Metal is the least popular genre out there, and i doubt its getting more popular with pure **** like the Darkness out there. And if you think that Death Metal is redundant i suggest you start downloading some of the music mentioned on this thread.
