Then why are you on the Death metal thread? Obviously you are looking for a response or just attention seeking. Quite sad to be honest with you.

Your trying to hurt my feelings and saying how sad you are for me but that one made me laugh.
I'm in this death metal thread because I think death metal people, people who wear long leather jackets and have long totally black hair or bloody red hair and have nails in their face are walking jokes. They look dangerous but in fact most of them just are wrongly understood people and they are soft and shy inside. They make bad jokes and they won't get along with other people but their death metal friends.

Maybe Im wrong.

Maybe, just maybe, you have no idea what you're talking about. I don't own a leather jacket, nor have I ever died my hair. I tell some great jokes too. I am gonna be purchasing a gauntlet and bullet belt from Armor-geddon Wear (http://www.armorgeddonwear.com/) though.

Jondur
09-15-2003, 02:43 AM
Probably Symbolic. It has a lot of melody and technicality of their late releases but isn't quite as 'out there' as The sound of Perseverence.

Personally I love Leprosy but that's Old school death metal so unless you like it sick... steer clear!

So get Symbolic or possibly Human.

some good heavy stuff:
The Berzerker
Aborted

when i first got into Aborted it made In Flames seem too melodic. Now ive heard The Berzerker and it makes Aborted all melodic and In Flames god knows what.

Aborted needs to do a US tour. Not that they'd come around here anyways but still. The Maryland Death Fest wasn't enough. They need to come to Grand Rapids. Or Kalamazoo would be better, but that's not going to happen.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed!!! Altered States Of America is a fantastic CD!! Sure, it's only 19 minutes long, but who else can fit 99 tracks on there? :p

Well, about 7 hours ago, we got back from Bourton with 5 shiny copies of The Effigy, Ionica's latest demo. It's a little rough around the edges, especially on the timings of some parts, but that should be excusable considering it's our first REAL recording. I'm real proud of it, as is the rest of the band. An mp3 of Confined, from the demo, is up on www.ionicaonline.com . Please check it out :)

Greg - your copy will be on its way to you as soon as we get the CDs printed. I hope you'll like it as much as we do. I'm looking forward to Screams..., should be kickarse.

good lord, i look in this thread often for a recomendation of a good band and look what i find. another idiot who thinks they know what they are talking about. im suprised Jondur didnt comment about this already, i find it funnier than the slipknot post.

by the way, i got a question for you all....im going to see the vader, kreator, and nile show as well as the nevermore, children of bodom, and (i hate this band) dimmu borgir show. Its at a place where i can get backstage passes, but the guy is only letting me get backstage passes for one show. I love all the bands, espically kreator and COB...but im still deciding which one i should go and meet the bands. im leaning towards kreator simply because im not sure how much longer they will be around. any help would be appricaited.

Jondur
09-16-2003, 03:14 AM
Meet Kreator - Alex would be too busy brushing his hair for you to meet CoB!!! Plus Mille is a funny guy!

I think HatefullyEternallyYours (bearing in mind his name's nod to Hate Eternal) is joking. I hope! ps you mean Samoth (or Zamoth in his Zyklon guise) he's been out of prison for about seven years now. However Faust (Old Emperor drummer) wrote all the lyrics on world ov worms and he's about to be released.

too bad none of these guys come too australia nowadays, now im going to the manson concert cos im so depressed and taking drugs after realising cryptopsy were here a month ago and i didnt even know!

Chimaira: have a look through the rest of this thread - you'll learn a lot about some great bands. Many came here without much knowledge of DM and are now happier, more fulfilled people. I havent' heard Chimaira that much, but saying a numetal band touring with In Flames for example is making IF numetal, is wrong.
Does it make Immolation poppie black metal to tour with Cradle of Filth?

I

Think

Not

In flames is practically a nu-metal band now (re route to remain is abuot 60% nu metal, 10% in flames, and 20% garbage), unearth are just metal core. However, on that tour, soilwork played amazingly, but they arent really that metal anymore either. Me personally, i wouldnt consider Chimaira nu-metal, they are defiantely more metal-core ish, but not nu-metal. They arent generic enough to be nu metal, nor do i remember the singer whining about how angry he is when i saw them.

EXACTLY MY POINT. MARDY, sorry for the confusion but 12 ounces you hit the nail on the head. they aren't nu metal. but more metal cor-ish. if you heard the first album though, its a bit nu metalish cause theres some rapping, and a bit of sampling. the new one though is very awseome, with some a$$ ripping solos. check it out sometime.

Oh and europeans dont have good metal fests? granted its still a bit of a hike for most euros to get to a lot of them, but id trade the NJ metal fest lineup for the Wacken 2003 lineup.

Im not complaining about the NJ fest lineup at all though (except that Amon Amarth is NOT on there).

Burzum (if I rememebr right) was a dialect of the orcish language. Also Varg (the man behind Burzum) when he was in Mayhem called himself Count Grishnack. Grishnack was the name of the orc that tried to escape with Merry and Pippen in Rohan. Burzum also has a song entitled "En Ring Til Aa Herske" which I believe translates into "One Ring To Rule".

Gorgoroth - I haven't finished reading the books yet, but if you look at a map of Middle Earth there is a Gorgoroth Plateau in Mordor.

Ephel Duath - The Ephel Duath is part of the mountain range that rings Mordor. There are a couple references to Ephel Duath in The Two Towers and Frodo, Sam and Gollums journey.

Isengard - The LOTR reference is obvious here. This is the side project of Darkthrone's fronman, Fenriz. It's black metal, but it's got quite a bit of tradiotional Norwegian folk influence. Not bad, but you probably wouldn't like it if you aren't into black metal.

Gandalf - Again...the LOTR reference is obvious. Gandalf plays a sort of melodic blackened death. Not many blast beats or tremelo picking, just good solid heavy metal with blackened vocals. I really like their album Deadly Fairytales. These guys are alot easier to get into than Isengard.

xAzagthothx-I got the Angeldeath promo pack today!!!!! I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet though. The mail just got here a few minutes ago and I'm about to leave again for my 2nd job. I'll probably start listening to the cd tonight when I get home and watch the VHS tomorrow. Thanks man!

Burzum is a word in the Black Tongue of Mordor. It's part of the inscription on the One ring, "And in the darkness bind them" Burzum means darkness in the Black Tongue.

Yeah sorry man. Been busy this weekend. I haven't watched all of the video yet, but what I did was good. Fogive me if I can't remember...in the first set on the video, are you the guitarist on the right or the left? I don't have to work my other job tonight so I'll probably watch the rest of it later tonight after the kid goes to bed.

The cd is good. The Slayer cover Raining Blood is really good. I think my fave's would have to be Divine Sacrifice and Pillars Of Blood. Also Mourning Of Sorrow is a really cool mellow instrumental. And the flyers are cool too. I like the little "story" thing at the bottom. I'm going to the local shop tonight. I'll take one of them with me and have the guy put it up. And since you said it's ok to make copies for friends, I'm taking him a copy of the cd too. Thanks again man.

Jondurs right. Read the thread. TONS of bands. And for radio...since the vast majority of actual radio stations these days suck major donkey balls, look online for online only radio stations. http://www.blackmetalradio.com is decent. Everyone in this thread is going to kill me. I've really changed these past few weeks in my musical taste so guess what that means? I'm leaving death metal behind i'm selling all of my Morbid Angel, Deicide, Carcass and Hate Eternal. I might also sell Nile, but i;m not sure. Death metal bands that I still like are Repulsion, Death (Scream Bloody Gore only), Decapitated, Cannibal Corpse, and Mortician (sorry, but they are one of my guilty pleasures lol). Grindcore bands that I still like are Napalm Death and Agoraphobic Nosebleed. Now you guys are going to hang me, because a friend and I formed a grindcore band called Urinal Discharge. Our only influence is Agoraphobic Nosebleed. We aren't serious at all. We write songs that have some funny titles similar to the kind of stuff that Agoraphobic Nosebleed write. We are doing this for fun and we are basically making fun of death metal so go ahead and kill us both.

Can't say I'm a fan either, to be honest. Maybe it's because I've never liked Hardcore in the first place. That's what annoyed me about Cryptopsy after Lord Worm left, I couldn't deal with DiSalvo's vocals. The new guys good though. But yeah, I find quite a lot of the time that when you try and do "crossover" genres, they fall a bit flat, not knowing exactly what they want to be.

p.s. Why do they always put an X in those names, like DeathXcore?

its real simple actually, back int he early 80s, if people went to clubs that had bars, if you were under 21 they would put Xs on your hands so you wouldnt be sold alchol, then the straightedge kids started putting the X's on their hands at all shows to show they choose not to drink, and thus that is what the X has to do with sXe
