yeah i want to see them live again. seeing him actually playing all that stuff was a great moment in my life.
anyway, my friend burned me a mix. so far i'm really liking the stuff she put on it. some Broadcast, Ilya, Boards of Canada, Sneaker Pimps, Telefon Tel Aviv, and some other stuff. i'm gonna have to look further into these bands.

Whiskeytown - Pneumonia
haven't listened yet but I just got it, because I heard one of their other tracks ("Choked Up") and became interested immediately. Seriously, you guys should get that song. It's one of those really catchy, kind of sad/nostalgic/bittersweet songs that everybody likes because it makes them feel good, even though it's only a slightly happy song.
that was a terrible description but you'll know what I mean if you hear it. This should have been a really big hit.

I love Dylan, but this album really never struck me as anythign extraordinary. It's certainly better than most of his post-Nashville Skyline work, but it still pales in comparison to his 60s efforts.
The Decemberists - The Crane Wife
I'm really liking this so far. I love their typical eccentric, jangly pop tales, but after 3 albums of much fo the same, a change like this is certainly welcome.

Honeycut - The Day I Turned to Glass
If you were one of those pasty trip-hop kids who was all like, "wtf Shadow!" this might appeal. Really cool mellow alt soul/pop/electronic stuff from his imprint. Big Shuggie Otis influence, really ****ing good arrangments, white boy melodicism filtered through some pretty nice grooves. Me likey.

Nonpoint - Statement
Pretty much the only nu metal album I still think is really good and listen to on a semi-regular basis. I enjoy the music as well as the vocals and lyrics and everything, and there isn't a lack of variety. It's remarkable. The last track (a dual-vocalist, nu metal-backed mash-up of "A Children's Story", "Woo-Hah!! Got You All In Check" and "Method Man") is a lot of fun, though I don't know what more devoted hip hop fans might think. Would've liked to write a review of it sometime.

Used to listen to this song for (literally) hours on repeat, and lately it's been enjoying a bit of a resurgence. Never went so far as to buy an album of theirs though, for some reason.

I've been on a My Morning Jacket kick lately. I like both Z and Okonokos. Off The Record is an awesome song (and on both Z and Okonokos - how handy!) I like Okonokos better for it's energy - Being live the crowd both helps and hurts the recording, but overall I think the band really feeds off it and it shows!

I dig the new Blood Brothers so far. 7 tracks in and it's seeming just as a catchy as Crimes and heavier and more spastic in parts and then more poppy than Crimes in other parts. Basically, so far it seems like the best parts of Crimes and BPIP in one.
