My first listen to Boris - Pink is promising. It plays pretty much like a longer Akuma No Uta, but that's more or less exactly what I was hoping it would be, so tis fine with me.

yeah, "Reena", "Incinerate", "Pink Steam", "Rats"(most awesome bassline in an SY song yet), and "The Neutral" are all great IMO.

but unfortunately there are a lot of songs that i skip over a lot. it seems like i'm going between those same 5 songs over and over again and skipping everything else. the other ones aren't bad, i just can't get into them yet. this CD isn't as consistent as "Sonic Nurse" but it's still great.

Comets on Fire are possibly the coolest band ever. The Art Bears were kinda disappointing though. I'll give it another go, but the singer is irritating.

Nomeansno - Wrong

In that order, the day's diggage so far. Played "Tired of Waiting" on my radio show this afternoon, followed by Mission of Burma. So \m/, which is kinda of uncharacteristic of me. But awesome music. Heart of the Congos I haven't really been able to get into since I bought it, but I was kinda feeling it later in the afternoon, driving around in the heat. And Africa Brasil is just many kinds of awesome. Woowoo.

Been diggin' on the 3 new These Arms Are Snakes songs (posted on myspace). I like them yes, but I dunno. I'm sure they think it's much coller, but we/us/me (the fans) really want the balls-outedness of the EP to come back. They're all going spacey and complex on our arses.

Various Artists - Pop Romantique: French Pop Classics

Bought this on a whim today. Pretty ok, Old and new French pop tunes performed by indie artists. Magnetic Fields, Air, Apples in Stereo, Ladybug Transistor, Luna and stuff. Mostly, American dudes singing in French sounds wack, except for Stephen Merritt. But a couple nice tunes here and there. It's ok.

Hi sat here at home again in front of my computer. really need to get out a bit more. I am digging this band called a new breed of monkey, a bit like artic monkey but way better. I’ve just downloaded a track of theirs called summer http://www.pzaaz.com/anewbreedofmonkey.
It was free to download, in fact that’s another thing! This site I have found pzaaz.com lets you download everything for free, pretty cool! its a bit like myspace, the difference is the money the site makes goes to new musicians. unlike myspace where it goes straight in to the pockets of rupert bloody murdoch. in my book that deserves a plug. :smoke:

funniest live band ever. they kept saying weiiird things in between songs.

"if you come up to the snack bar, or as you like to call the "stage", we put some Sour Straws here for your enjoyment, take as many as you like. you know, we're a very political band. one thing we feel very strongly about is that we should replace everyone in the white house with Sour Straws. because wars would go on forever, babies would be dying and everything, but THEY'D STAY THE HELL OUT OF OUR BUSINESS."

But I had to buy an album by some Ukrainian dudes or else I would have had to give up my World Cup radio show plans. I ended up picking up the only album they had in the puny Ukraine section of the puny world music section. It's an album of traditional Ukrainian songs covered by The Ukrainians, which is surprisingly a band that features one of the dudes from the Wedding Present. It's pretty good stuff, also has a couple of well done Sex Pistols covers. Also bought, and thus, will eventually dig:

Opinion? Is it not pure grungey gold?

It's pretty cool. Title track has been a favorite for a while, so I was kinda expecting to be underwhelmed, but there's a lot of fun stuff here on first listen. Been wanting it for a while.

They're quite like Queens Of The Stone Age, Black Sabbath, stuff like that.
Stonerish. Fun.

Rob Crow is the singer, he's in numerous indie rock bands (Pinback, Thingy, Heavy Vegetable, etc.)

I thought nothing could ever live up to the original Nuggets box set, but this sure comes close. Some amazing stuff by bands like the Lyres and Dream Syndicate.

I'm in Melbourne and have bought a lot of cds:

Joy Division - Closer
The Cure - Boys Don't Cry
Radiohead - Amnesiac
Queen - A Night at the Opera
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
Six Organs of Admittance - School of the Flower
Calexico - Feast of Wire

I'm trying to decide what else to buy. There's a lot of good record stores down here.

Butthole Surfers

It's amazing that the same band can make songs as poppy and brilliantly catchy as Ah Ha, Pepper or TV Star and make songs as abrasive and brilliantly disjointed as 22 Going on 23, Graveyard or The Shah Sleeps in Lee Harvey's Grave.

I think it's a little weird that the first song off the new TMV album is (allegedly) gonna be called "A Vicarious Atonement" when the new Tool album opened up with "Vicarious."

And both songs are/will be about seven minutes long

Not that it has anything to do with how it will sound (haven't listened to them yet, trying to wait just a bit). It's just a bizarre coincidence.
