I've been wanting to get this album for ages. I've always imagined Silver Jews as similar to Two Gallants for some reason (another band I need to properly check out)
Brian Eno - Another Green World
This album is perfect.
Quoted for truth.
Just dug All Time Quarterback - All Time Quarterback - Haven't listened to it in a while but it's still sweet.
Currently listening to The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow. I don't think I like it as much as Oh, Inverted World.

Silver Jews are great, they don't really sound like Two Gallants though. There are vague similarities I guess.
Mission of Burma - The Obliterati
Jesus Lizard - Goat
Red House Painters - Down Colorful Hill
Red House Painters - Ocean Beach
Yay I get to listen to music at work.

Yay I get to listen to music at work.
I envy you so much. Where do you work/what do you work as?
I get to listen to music, but only what they play on the stupid loudspeaker, which is in annoying loop. There are a few songs which some on that I like, such as:
Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles (actually love this song)
The Coral - Pass it On
REM - The Great Beyond
Ozzy Osbourne - Dreamer
Sam Cooke - Don't Know Much About History
The Isley Brothers - Who's That Lady?
That's it I think.
We play music at work, but its a music store :-D
I just got back from Bonnaroo and now im going to listen to all the bands I just saw.

Who did you see at Bonnaroo?
Sparta - Porcelain
This album is just excellent. Before listening to Sparta I was under the impression they were meant to be a really boring band, but this is really not like that at all.
Is Porcelain a rare exciting album, or is all Sparta this good?

-Mr. Bungle - s/t and California
Haven't given the 'Bungle a listen in a while, then I saw some videos and live stuff on Youtube. So a minor case of Bungle Fever hit.
-Gnarls Barkley - "Crazy"
Just that one song. The few others songs I have are nice, but I still haven't really dug them much. I dunno.
-Old Man Gloom - "Zozobra"
Posty-metal a bit on the too-repetitive side, but it was good for a background thang.
-The Fever - In the City of Sleep
Definitely nowhere near a favorite of mine, but it's kinda neat.
I'd love to work in a music store.
Who did you see at Bonnaroo?
Tons of bands but my favorite shows were Radiohead, Beck, and Sierra Leone Refugee Allstars.

Except "Angry Son" has the most trite, cliche'd guitar part ever. And the Slint vocals on top just make it a laughable recording all around. Other than that, I dig the bluesy samples and the emo explosions throughout.
That's the whole point of emo.
Laughable recordings.

Mischief Brew - Songs From Under the Sink
This album is just as good as Smash the Windows. Songs like All Our Comrades and Coffee, God and Cigarettes are among the best he's done. If you haven't heard him, it's excellent gypsy/swing/folk-punk reminiscent of The Pogues and Tom Waits.
Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains - All Power to the Wingnuts
Great gutter-rock/folk-punk. I've been looking for this for ages and it doesn't dissapoint.

Well, you know I loves me some Wire (they just beat Zappa on my last.fm!), but I only consider the albums after Pink Flag to be post-punk, and of those only Chairs Missing is great. Magazine has two remarkable post-punk classics.
Then you can get into counting Talking Heads' later 70s and early 80s stuff, and the choice gets really hard. But I don't think they're really post-punk anyway.

I dont really know what I like about it, but I just cant seem to stop listening to it. maybe its because this is my first experience listening to drone metal or whatever this genre is called. Dr. Octagon and The Nails. Remixes of the former, Mood Swing by the latter. Mood Swing is ok, new-wave stuff. The title track and "88 Lines About 44 Women" are the best, "88" makes me think of Magnetic Fields big time. As for the Doc Ock remixes, pretty neat. Just watched Jools Holland. The last for a while, unfortunately, but at least it was a good one. There was some Cockney guy with an acoustic guitar rapping (Plan B), and he was actually surprisingly good. Album's not out yet, but I hope I remember to give it a listen when it is. I felt a bit sorry for him though, being the only other man-and-guitar in a show with a guy called Raul Midon. With luck I'll be buying this guy's album in the very near future - based on this one song at least, he has a great voice, great skill at the guitar (along with an almost clawed right hand to play it) and the ability to imitate a trumpet almost perfectly. The Divine Comedy, who I haven't heard about in years, also sounded pretty good.
And the Flaming Lips playing War Pigs was interesting, too.

You know what, I think I really like Trompe Le Monde
I've had Surfer Rosa and Doolittle for a while and I thought it was time to check out their other albums
their later stuff is awesome.
Doolittle is awesome too, but Surfer Rosa is overrated.
while Doolittle had great melodies, a great varied selection of songs, etc, Surfer Rosa lacked almost all the memorable melodies of Doolittle and was very dry when it came to variation.
but it gains you indie points to like Surfer Rosa better, because the production sucks and the music itself is very dry and lacks the character of all their later albums.

To say that the production on Surfer Rosa sucks is baffling to me, if you like the flat, colorless sound on Doolittle...
In fact, it's the sound on Doolittle that makes it so inferior in my eyes, not so much the songs. It's either my 3rd or 4th favorite of theirs.

Right now listening to Cansei de Ser Sexy. Band's kinda horrible and not in that good kind of horrible way, but still sort of fun. Brazilian indie dance-pop. I'll probably never listen to this after a week. I'm going to listen to some Pixies now, though.
The Eels - Blinking Lights

Surfer Rosa lacked almost all the memorable melodies of Doolittle
"River Euphrates" has the best melody of any song, ever.
Muse - Blackholes and Revelations
Cursive - Happy Hollow
I think these are the two most enjoyable album of the year so far. This Muse album especially, I don't normally like them, but it's really great.
Yea, that Muse album is pretty fun.
