For some reason I really feel like listening to songs about girls. Reccomend me some, anyone who feels like it.
TSOL - Code Blue
The best song about girls ever written.
Today I've been digging the debut Armalite album. It's pretty cool.

Just that I'd like to be able to tell people that I'm unable to pick a favourite Talking Heads record, because they're all so brilliant, but I'm too honest and would cave and have to tell them that actually '77 is it.
It was nothing really.
Zappa
03-14-2006, 07:20 PM
Ah, I got it now.
Talking Heads: '77 is brilliant. So is More Songs About Buildings and Food. So is Remain in Light. The other three in their first six are flawed but great.
It's ridiculous.
I'm a frothing fanboy.

Fear of Music is very underated. Although it's not as good as Talking Heads: '77, Remain in Light or More Songs About Food and Buildings it's still an excellent album.

I don't think it's VERY underrated. "Animals" and especially "Electric Guitar" are the first major missteps in the bands career, in my opinion. When compared to what's before and immediately after, it's easy to look down on it. That's not to say some of it doesn't rank with their best. Look at "Life During Wartime" and "I Zimbra" for that.

Either, really. My friend was making all of these horny comments today typical of a 15 year old boy, so I've decided to make him a mix cd of songs with the word 'girl' in it. I'm just listening to songs like that at the moment.

But does it really take a whole year to get into? I've listened to some of it a few times and I find it merely "okay." I mean, I can get into DEP so I thought this band wouldn't be too difficult, but it's really not something I want to like as much as I did with Dillinger.

It doesn't take that long to get into, I've just taken that long to realise how much I love it. I've listened to it many times, but I can't just pop it on whenever I feel like it.
Every time I listen to it, it takes me on a journey and I'll usually end up listening to it 2 or 3 times in a row. It's really best appreciated as a whole. It's both one of the most original and emotional albums out there.

Armalite - Armalite
The debut album from the punk rock supergroup featuring members of Lifetime, Kid Dynamite, The Boils, Affirmative Action Jackson, Atom and his Package and Paint it Black. It's really good, the songs Atom sings are generally better (particularly the song I am a Pancreas) but it's a tight pop-punk album as a whole.
Cleveland Bound Death Sentence - Self-titled
Raw, catchy punk rock, the song 3rd Floor and Passed Out in Doorways is amazing.
Dead Things - Because Sometimes You Just Want to Ride Your Bike to the Show
More low-fi, catchy punk.
The Orphans - Raise the Youth
Erik Petersen's pre-Mischief Brew band. It's not as good as Mischief Brew but is solid original political punk rock. The songs Outwitted, Raise the Youth, and Big Brother, Bigger Mother are all great punk songs with the former bearing a ska tinge and you can really see Mischief Brew in the songs, What Reason Have They To Dance?, Anorexic Mind and For an Old Kentucky Anarchist which are probably the best on the album.

Armalite - Armalite
The debut album from the punk rock supergroup featuring members of Lifetime, Kid Dynamite, The Boils, Affirmative Action Jackson, Atom and his Package and Paint it Black. It's really good, the songs Atom s
sings are generally better (particularly the song I am a Pancreas) but it's a tight pop-punk album as a whole.

After having it for a year and listening to it this afternoon, I have decided that As The Roots Undo is my favourite album of all time.
It's an awesome album. Same Shade As Concrete is such an amazing song, it knocks my socks off every time. I think I'll give it a spin later today.

My week has mostly consisted of Prefuse 73 and X. I got an album from this rap group from Senegal that I've been listening to too, Wegeble. There are some umlats in there or something. Not bad, a little uneven. I don't really get into non-english hip hop much. I don't know why. They could use some boom-bappier beats.

Ah, YDLoad, you get me every time. Btw, I read in the paper a while ago the thing referenced in your user title, I made the connection instantly. Brutal.
I'm listening to The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow right now. I'm glad I got Chutes instead of Oh, Inverted World, I like this one a lot. Pink Bullets is a great song, I should learn it sometime.

Another first time listen:

Wonderful. Like Souvlaki-quality Slowdive, except more organic and human.
I will check those out.

I really really like Thom Yorke's solo concert.
Apparently he's releasing a solo album at some point in the not-too-distant future.
Oh, wierd, never heard anything about that.
I can't wait to see them at Bonnaroo, apparently they are playing a 4 hour set!

^Decided to relisten to this considering the high praise. Nope, it's still unremarkable. Solid, enjoyable, but unremarkable.

Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
Sonic Youth - Sister
The Replacements - Let It Be

Baby Huey
There's some kind of party going on in the common room here, but I don't want to join in so I'm having my own one man party up here, with Baby Huey.
Also been listening to both The Bends and OK Computer. Think I might like them both more than I used to think I did.

I love the Trainspotting soundtrack. Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Brian Eno, Blur, New Order....lots o' good stuff. Now all I have to do is convince my parents to let me see the movie >.>
Diggage for today includes The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest. Not a lot to say about this album except I think it gets better every time I listen to it. Some Pixies may be dug later in the day.

Horn filled punk. I'm seeing them on Saturday.
Leftover Crack - Mediocre Generica
Choking Victim - No Gods, No Managers
Fun ska-core for when you're pissed off.
Ghost Mice - The Debt of the Dead
Sweet folk-punk. This is their best album. I don't think it's got a bad track on it.
