I'm digging The Unicorns alot...I totally dug them and I despised the fact that they seperated. I'm also quite fond of "Phantom Power" by The Super Furry Animals...theyre a great band in my opinion. Is it just me or does the intro of "Hello Sunshine" resemble Elysian Fields (the band) almost exactly?
MissAntarctica is pretty good. They are a half english/half dutch band thay are way too good to be just popular in Holland. They are comparable to Wheat, Radiohead and Pedro The Lion...but they stand on their own. I'm diggin their debut "Lost Electricty".

This is a fun record.
Indeed. Apparently this band gets a bad rap because most of their fans are idiots/stoners/both, but they've got a great range of styles to play around with and Brad Nowell was a great guitarist. Plus they beat 311 any day, partially because they're not still around and making the same record five times.

Hey Zappa, did you ever hear that album....I think it was John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk at Carnegie Hall? Live jazz album from the '50s or '60s that I've been digging lately. Since you're our resident jazz fiend, I figured you'd heard of it.

Ask your parents to ask their friends, I'm sure one of them has an old record player lying around. To many people it's such a dead technology they'll give it to you for free just to clear up a foot of storage space. You might even get some free records in the mix. That's how I got mine, no free records though. :(

I'm currently listening to Opeth's Damnation for the first time, and after being slightly underwhelmed, I think I'm starting to understand why they have won such acclaim, particularly the notoriety of this album. "Death Whispered A Lullaby" is a dark, evocative song, and Akerfeldt's clean vocals work excellent... I think I really like this song. This is approximately my first real exposure to Opeth.
I'm still on my Post Rock tear, and I've found a new band to direct a lot of energies at - yndi halda. Their EP, enjoy eternal bliss, I found to be mind blowing.
I'm also hooked on Tom Lerher recently. Funny, funny man.
