So far, that is turning out to be my least favorite. Neu! '75 I am listening to now for the first time, and it's really incredible. Especially the first half is intensely moving stuff, and the rest is really energetic and excellent as well. I love all three of their albums, though.

You guys may like your fIREHOSE, but I'm currently diggin a different band with inverted capitalization: cLOUDDEAD. They're WEIRD, man. People call it hip hop, which it's definitely not, or at least not entirely. It's a lot more like The Books and Animal Collective and the more ambient Microphones tracks, but there is a little rapping in there, I guess. Anyway, they're cool. Give 'em a shot.

You mean "Hallogallo?" It's beautiful, uplifting, mechanical, driving, subtle, and passionate. What's not to love?

And to the whole post-punk thing: if anything, they're proto-punk. Their last studio album was released in '75. They inspired the punk scene to a certain extent, and the post-punkers took on some Neu!-ish qualities quite a bit, but I would rather just separate them completely. I think of Neu!'s music as progressive rock, but it's a distinctly German strain of prog.

Some Daoist music compilation I have on my Ipod.

It's relaxing - too relaxing in fact, I fell asleep listening to it on the way home from work on the train and almost missed my station.

This morning I listened to some of Cure for Pain by Morphine.

Then on the way home I was getting a ride from a friend, and she played a mix-CD she received from another person. The first song on said mix was "Buena," one of the first tracks from the aforementioned album. Kind of weird, but pleasant.

I've been listening to a lot of Iron & Wine and Rachel's recently.

I just noticed that I'm signed up as a subcriber on last.fm. But I don't think my tags got deleted.

"Blood and Thunder" by Mastodon has the most ridiculous video ever.

Did you get it from my link in this thread? Or was it from somewhere else? Oh well, either way the song/video kicks ***. Easily the best straight-up metal band to come around this decade.

I dunno about best, but definitely one of the best. Remain In Light came out in 1980, so some would argue that they hit their peak in the '80s.

Truly, a question for the ages.
