Pere Ubu is a mega weird post-punk band. Their music tends to be unbelievably "nervy" and awkward to the point of often being annoying. I don't actually like them very much.

They have a great bottom end though.
For Decay:
David Thomas' vocals are not for everyone but if you happen to like them upon the first listen you'll be hooked. Their first 3 LPs are where it's at and if you can find their first EPs you'll be set.

Orbison is seriously overlooked around here. Just an incredible voice. My parents were huge fans of his so I have a bunch of his albums from them. That man is just an unbelievable composer. "Last Song" might possibly be the best musical composition that has ever gazed my ears. That song is so beautiful...yet so minimalistic. The melodies almost sound unfinished, which makes them perfect in an ugly sort of fashion.
If i had to choose a last song to hear it would be the "Last Song"...it's just mind boggling to think that someone could compose music like this. It never fails to blow me away.

I didn't like it too much at first but it's become one of my favourite albums of this year. Personally nothing can top ...Facts though. Transatlanticism is also a brilliant album. Give You Can Play Songs With These Chords a spin, it's a compilation of early demos, B-sides and rarities - that's my second favourite and a great example of the bands early work.
Of course I am a Death Cab fan(atic) so I might be a bit bias.
