Zappa, is the DVD that comes with the Sandman box set any good?
Yeah. It's got some early music videos, a few very low quality live performance videos, and some really great interviews. If you like the music and have some extra cash, I would recommend picking up the set.

I've found JB to be pretty overrated, but this new one has so much obscure metal, it's awesome. Their jazz is piss poor. If you can, order off amazon, it's dead cheap, even from the US.

Never tried it. I never listen to music while I read, though. I can't play music without paying very close attention to it (for the most part, there are exceptions), and I can't get any literary meaning without concentrating on the words on a page. Therefore, the two do not mix well.
I can't read and listen to music at the same time either, but I generally suck at any shape or form of multitasking.

Hmm, well if you're using head phones just lower the volume to a point where you can some what hear what's going on around you. If you just focus on reading you'll fly right through it and pick up everything. Music actually helps me remember that I've been studying because I'll associate certain songs with chunks of information.
If you're not using head phones don't have it blasting, just let it serve as a backround noise.

Streetlight Manifesto. I'm trying to learn some of their songs on bass. Such a good ska band.
Mindless Self Indulgence. Don't ask. I'm liking this music. It's really addictive.
This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb. Ah yes, good old folk-punk. I've tried getting into punk and I can't really do it, and I've grown up around folk, but I wouldn't say I really listen to it. Yet somehow I love TBIAPB, Defiance Ohio, and Against Me!. The quality on this album is poor, though, but I love the songs very much. For Alto is good stuff I think though it can get lengthy on the second half of the album, tracks 5-8 each top ten minutens but they're well worth it in my mind. Braxton really has at it on the album and each track holds its own. It's a solid and consistant album in my opinion.

Umm, it;s mostly locals but lately there has been a lot of Melbourne and Sydney band coming up, and also smaller bands from overseas. A lot of post-punk type stuff (as most of the local scene is these days).
The Rogers Sisters played there recently. I can't remember, but yeah it is growing in notoriety, and it's basically a real dirty bunch of alleyways TMNT club style. Bunch of little kids drinking goon and throwing up.
