2006 release from a bunch of 18/19 year olds from the UK. One of the most unique releases I've heard in ages. The sound is pretty intense...like pretty heavy screamo sections interspersed with awesome electro bits, ambient noodling and some awesome guitar bits. Apparently I really suck at describing this, but check it out if you think there's a chance you might dig this sort of thing. Saw them live last night and they were intense, can't wait for the full album.

My perception of music is seriously skewed from a normal person's perspective. When I saw Deerhoof on Monday I took my friend whose never heard them before and I described them as being a pretty normal 3 piece rock band, he though different when the show was over. From the music I normally listen to, they're pretty basic but from someone who's a Rammstein fan its wild. More people than I'd expect like Lightning Bolt though.

heh yeah thats pretty much how i am. i'm just more drawn to less accessible music. Deerhoof aren't too bizarre in my mind. lol, i burned a cd with Dr. Octagonecolygist on it and tried to play it out with my friend the other night and she made me take it out. i thought she would have liked it but apparently i thought wrong...
I forget that my music is bizarre because in my house it was perfectly acceptable. So at work, or in public, or even around friends sometimes I notice my music kind of... upsets and confuses. It's not on purpose.
My friend did not know how to react when I first played him some Ween. He actually kind of hated it. But The Mollusk is now one of his favorite albums. I don't even find Ween all that strange.

The only band who I've turned someone on to irl are the Meat Puppets. I gave up on it now and just keep it to myself except whoever is riding with me in my car gets a taste of what I'm digging that week.
i think i've gotten my mom to like Blonde Redhead and Yo La Tengo, thats about it though.

Those two are pretty accessible. I turned someone on to Husker Du also, but if you grew up in the 90's those sort of riffs are already engraved in your brain anyway.
I have introduced plenty of music to friends, but only certain friends for the most part. People who actually came to me and asked me to reccomend stuff, or if I know what they listen to and know something similar. Although I compare music that sometimes no one else hears the comparison at all.
But I've gotten friends into lots of music.

give up on letting normal people listen to music. (though to be fair to my classmates who didn't like Husker Du, the guitars WERE too loud and the production in general was simply bad)

I like doom metal, and I like Earth's newer stuff, but I'm not sure if straight-up drone is my cup of tea. I do like the songs that have a lot of weird instrumentation and noise elements, but the songs that are literally just ten minutes of two droning notes makes me feel like I've got a concussion.
