Hey guys, as you may have noticed, I have just been named mod for this forum so I figured that we make up some rules and stuff in here, since I finally have the power to sticky/close stuff. Anyways, I really want these to be made up by the people in this forum, since so few ever post in here. Everyone please submit what you think rules should be in here, and I will eventually collect them all and clean this thread out.
Merci :thumb:

Congrats on becoming mod of this forum:thumb:
Some rules:
Don't bash someone's musical tastes, if you are going to, state valid reasons
Have fun
Check back a page or 2 to see if the same thread is close by
Don't bump extremely old threads by posting something stupid like "u suk"
Try hard to use half decent grammar and spelling
Don't make every other word in a post a swear word unless you know how to get past the filter.
Tell me what you think.
I will edit this post and add some more as I think of them.

Congrats Scarred4life
I am relatively new here, & this is a great forum.
I am somwhat older than most of the poster in here, but I think it's a great place for the younger generation of rockers to learn thing..
There is not too much trouble here & most are respectful...
So, I will abide by how you choose to your the forum
Take Care,
JayLink

You deserve to be mod Scarred :thumb:
Use the search button.
Try to put a limit to the "I can't think of a name for my band" threads
Try to remember that the Jam Session is not the Audio Arena.

Indeed, fortunately I also mod the Audio Arena, so Ive got it both ways. :p

I think there should be an official "recording equipment and software" thread. There are to many threads asking about this stuff.

^ You also have to think that without those threads, there would be barely any threads. You have to keep the J.S alive.

Jam Session Rules.
1. The general rules of all the other subforums apply. In brief
* No excessive spamming/flaming of another users thread.
* No creation of threads simply to make spam, or flame another user or band. Direct these threads to The Pit, or the Rock & Metal forum.
* Do not bring back old threads, or make duplicate threads.
2. The people who use this forum use it to ask for help and expect serious responses. If you cannot help someone, do not post in their thread.
Exceptions would be;
* You have a similar question that would be better placed in that thread than have another one created specifically for it.
* Your response is really funny.
3. This is not a classifieds forum, nor is it the Audio Arena.
4. The forums for your respective instruments exist for a reason. Questions about what amp and guitar/kit/cymbal I should buy are better posted in their own forums where they may be better dealt with. Questions about maintenance, repair, electronics, PA set-ups, etc, are probably better dealt with here.
5. It is a bad idea to make a thread about "Give me a band name." However, it can be productive, if you are lucky, if you make a thread about "My band are trying to decide between these names, which is best?". A poll is helpful. But remember it is hard for people to decide which band name suits you best, when they haven't heard you play, and don't even know a thing about you.
6. Before anyone makes a thread about it, no, no one else can yodel, or wants to.
7. "<Band> vs <band>" threads do not belong here... they belong in Rock & Metal.
8. Try to keep thread titles straightforward, so people can read them all and know easily if they can help you out.

5. It is a bad idea to make a thread about "Give me a band name."
I suggest a giant list of band names that are free to use to aviod those kinds of threads.

Just thought I'd mention a couple of rules that might help.
1. Keep your questions on a topic all in one thread, If you want to know how to connect your speakers to your multitrack, It's much better, cleaner and more polite to ask it in the same thread you asked another multitrack question. This will help us avoid users making 5 threads to ask questions that could have been answered in one :)
2. Keep questions about singing in the singing 101 stickies, and questions about bands in the band 101 stickies.
3. Enjoy the Jam Session, Treat others with respect and tolerance even when they break the rules or become irritating, It is much easier to get someone to see their mistakes when you kindly point it out rather than yell and flame them for it, We're a small forum, We can't afford to be scaring people off. :)
Oh and if anyone want's to ask me something, or is about to make a thread and is not sure if it's been done before, or just wants to talk to me.

hi.i am new here, but i agree with you,i have seen alot of juvenile attitudes in the "youre an idiot" genre, and its totally counterproductive..basically,"no knowledge without respect"its cool that there are people trying to keep this constructive, and not just a glorified chat line...

Only two rules:
1. If you dont like what someone else says or has created, enter a valid, intellectually thought out response without flaming, insulting or cursing or STFU.
2. Look at Rule #1

Personally, I prefer when people at least capitalize the beginning of their sentences, as is the known convention in this language. Perhaps if we structure our thoughts in an intelligent manner, our thoughts will become more intelligent...
^ It would become a Spamorgasm.
Spamorgasm! Why not just make that the band name!
