 I'm lovin' the sweaty Ray Davies avatar woodstock .

Eh, anyway, would Black Sabbath be classed as classic rock?
I think that when they went into the seventies they were one of the best classic rock bands around, records like: Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabotage and Vol. 4, shows their classic rock style of blues and heavy music.

But in all honesty, my theory is this:
As Sabbath moved on in time, their music got more and more complex and less about the raw agility and strength that was in their first three albums, especially on some of their proggier stuff, like, Technical Ecstacy and Never Say Die, which co-incidentally all my friends think are crap.
Coincidentally they are wrong.

Meh, I know I'm ranting, but I had a pretty rough day in school, people have no mindspan if it's not heavy metal anymore, you can't listen to jazz blues and acoustic stuff without sounding cool.

One time, a friend of mine called me up and said, "I was just listening to the radio and that Vietnam song came on."

"Fortunate Son?"

"Yah, that's it."

:p

Badmoon Rising is my favorite CCR song. Its very catchy.

And the Hotel California solo is very cool. I haven't heard this in a while cause I'm used to the live version.

CCR were great catchy songwriters. Very talented.

I especially love the 11 minute jam of I Heard It Through The Grapevine.

Yea, it took me a little while to get into them, but once I started to listen to more classic rock I loved them

It was really funny, today during P.E, my friends and I were sitting on the bench and my friend brought this iPod stereo thing, so we were sitting there listening to bad moon rising, and we get up and everyone's gone. Our P.E teacher looks at us suspiciously and says "What are you doing, listening to CCR and getting wasted? Not in my class"

We found out later he was kidding and was a huge CCR fan.

Do you guys think playing Down By the River would be too long to play at a talent show? I wanna play it, but I think the crowd wouldn't appreciate it, and get bored.

Depends, if the crowd likes Neil Young... if not, then no. If your school is anything like my school they'll be like after the first 3 minutes... "PLAY LITTLE JOHN!!"

Well I know a few guys who like him, but I'm not so sure about the rest of the crowd. I'm in a few classes with a girl who's related to him, but she hates him.

Speaking of "Bayou", I came up with a very cool band name.

The Bayou Runners

Yea, that's right up there with other Badmoon originals like...

Smell my Mule
Goldey Locks & The Daisy Eyed Trio

Past band names I've tried using were Jambouree Junction and Wah Shrooms. Neither really worked out. I still plan on using Wah Shrooms for something because I like how it would look on an album/t-shirt etc

Lost Cause, that's a good one.

Jambouree Junction was what me and my friends called ourselves when we were in elementary school and we brought our harmonica's to school everyday and jammed together. When we got to highschool we stopped though, although last year we started up again with more of a percussion group. Although we still kept a harmonica and added my guitar. Mostly cool percussion beats though, snapping fingers, clapping hands, vocal percussion.

So I am now in Vocal Jazz at school, the first song I want to tackle would be a Beach Boys song, although everytime I suggest them someone says no.

Yes, Jerry does pretty well on that track. Though I believe he out does that on recordings like "Terrapin Station" and various songs from Wake of the Flood, In the Dark and collaborations with David Grisman. :)

I just rented

Jack Kerouac - On the Road

A definitive book for Beatniks and it of course features Neal Cassidy. If anyone hadn't know, Cassidy drove The Merry Pranksters' (San Fran Hippies spreading the word of LSD) Psychedelic Bus. He was also a very close friend of the Grateful Dead. They even wrote the songs "Cassidy" (Partially) and "That's it for the Other One" about him.

Are there any bootlegs from the Acid tests days?

On another note: I now have a famous bootleg from when the Doors were in Miami when Jim pulled out his wanker.

I doubt there's any bootlegs of those, but I may be wrong. The Grateful Dead were only a house band for the Big Beat Club back then.

Speaking of Books, you guys should read Living with the Dead. That book is beyond hilarious and has tremendous insight from there manager/co-writer (of the book) Rock Scully.
