About half of the guys in my school play guitar. However, none of them bother to be good at it, so all they can play is screamo crap. I'm one of three (no exaggeration) guitarists out of the 100 or so that play that can play a decent solo.
There are many guitarists in my school who are much faster than me, because they are into the whole "practice scales for 2 hours a day" type of thing, whereas I just like to jam and write my own music. But there is one guitarist in my school that I would actually bow down to. He's amazing. He teaches guitar in the same school I do, although I got the job because my guitar teacher runs the school, he got the job through word of mouth. He's probably the best guitarist in Regina under the age of twenty, he has mastered just about all types of music.
And I was considering teaching my student Highway To Hell, just because it's easy, and he could probably end up learning the solo, You Shook Me All Night Long as well...that's a fun solo for beginners.

There was this kid playing an acoustic guitar during lunch period today. He was just doing it to get attention, and I wanted to go smash it over his head. But, I wouldn't have enough money to repay him.
It would've been worth it.
Classic rock is cool, so is Booker T. Anyone like any of the players in the Blues Brothers Band. Mine would be Steve Cropper and Duck Dunn. Both are great musicians.

Does anyone have Fresh Cream? I never hear anything about it.
Fresh Cream is great. It's hard to top Disraeli Gears and Wheels of Fire, but I think it's just as good, but in a different way. It's got more of a raw bluesy sound to it.

So today at school this (chubby\nice) girl came up to me and said "Can I see your CD's?" "Sure" I said so I let her see them she fliped though all of them pointed to PATGOD and she said "Pink Floyd...cool....didnt they just come out with a new album?" "Well...not that Im aware of." I said "You know that one with triangle on it?"
^This has disturbed me...(not that she wants to get in paints) but that Classic Rock is starting to creep back out into popularity. I see tons of Floyd, Beatles, LS and Led Zeppelin shirts and these names are starting to become popular again. It brings a question. Will Classic Rock influence our generation of music? Can this be a bad thing?
I am aware this is similer to the 1st post of this thread but Im not questioning CR's popularity and Im not just stating it eithert Im just asking: Will Classic Rock influence our generation of music?

I agree with Disconnection Notice. Most people I know just say,"Oh, that's old. Why do you listen to old music?"
If classic rock does influence our generation of music, I think it could be a good thing. Maybe more groups would think twice about writing some of those ridiculous lyrics that they come up with.

Classic rock will always be influential to pop culture, but it shouldn't encompass it. Like it or not, new music has to be made, just because some of it might be good/remembered as "classic" by the next generation.

I don't thnk you need permission, I know you don't need permission to change the words in the song though, so I figure if it's legal to do that then it should be legal to do covers w/out permission

You are allowed to cover any song you want, as long as you give credit to the real songwriter.
Who do you think the most covered artist is? I'd say Bob Dylan. Mr Tambourine Man, Knockin on Heavens Door, Sub. Homesick Blues, tons of his songs have been covered by artists. Even in the sixties artists were putting out versions of his songs, and every decade at least one band has a hit with one of his songs.

Page didn't have an act until Zeppelin, he was basically just a studio guitarist until the Yardbirds...and even then he didn't put on much of a show visually. Hendrix didn't make a big scene until 67. Townshend did come first, I haven't seen him play live in the sixties really though, I'm just assuming his style was the same as the seventies.

My generation is probably the next album im gonna get, though i have a ton of who as it is, and pick up 3 more rush albums yesterday (all live). I totally organized all my songs, and have a complete list in alphabetical order on Microsoft Word, and on Realone, took me all day.
And i heard the Who is making a new album...any one hear about this, or when a realease date is expected
Rush is great. Neil Peart is one of the best drummers ever

Their album Trilogy is great. The Endless Enigma is a great song, very long. It's split up into two parts on the album. Great keyboards/piano. They were pioneers of the MOOG synthesizer.

why would you want it to be two discs, then you have to carry around two discs every time yuo want to listen to all of a tommy, and it is cheaper than a double disc album, for example The Wall is around $35, while Tommy is only around $14.

I love Supertramp, never heard the Googoo Dolls cover though. I kinda like the Googoo Dolls to. So it's a decent cover?

Yeah, they don't really change it at all. It's good.

Well if the original version was good, and the band didn't change it in the cover, then it's probably still good. Not original, but good.

I just found an old CD: Old And In The Way - Breakdown, and it is quite good, but I don't know anything behind it. It's Bluegrass for sure and it has Jerry Garcia on Banjo (Gee golly, he's good). Has anyone else heard/liked this album?
Old & In the Way's Breakdown: Live Recordings is a fantastic album. Almost as good as self titled. As for the band, they are surely one of the most talented Bluegrass bands ever. Let's break um on down.
Jerry Garcia - Though he felt bad that his banjo chops didn't compare to each other musician's skills, they did. Even though guitar is his main instrument, he throws down some blazing fast rolls and lines.
Peter Rowan - Rowan isn't that great of a a guitarist, but he makes up for that loss vocally. His voice is always in tune and in key.
Vassar Clements - Definitley one of the great violinist/fiddle players ever. His playing is always amazing, throughout every album Old & In the Way made.
John Kahn - Friend of Jerry and very talented acoustic bassist. He doesn't always show all of the skill, but he none the less has it and never disapoints.
David Grisman - All of you know him. Grisman's playing kind of matches Garcia's Bluegrass wise. Alway consistent and technically fantastic.
Great, great band.

If they don't put their own spin on it, what's the point of covering it?
Sounds boring.

So does that mean that you're an occasional fan or a small fan of them? Or like a few songs?

Which do people prefer - Skynyrd or the Allman Bros. Band?
I prefer ABB because they're a bit more of a jam band.

I think the Allmans are miles ahead of Skynyrd. I'm pretty sure Miik is a big ABB fan.

Overall, ABB. But Skynryds songs just have such a great beat. I mostly like the more upbeat ones like "I know A little" and "THey call me the breeze".
Gotcha. I just ninja edited exept I fayl'd :(
edit: to 3 posts up the page ^that way.

Okay, the shrooms may go down this saturday. About a week ago (When I was suppose to have them) the stupid dealer didn't get them, even though we requested six days in ahead. But I did manage to smoke a bunch of weed.
So, hopefully it'll go down this weekend.
