Shroom dealers are sketchy guys. I never believe that they are getting them until they actually have them.
Dealing shrooms is really dangerous, because (maybe it's different in other countries) if you get caught with shrooms...and they beleive you have intent to sell them they can charge you for murder/attempted murder. I'm not sure exactly why, maybe because a lot of mushrooms can be mistaken for magic ones when they are actually really poisonous. Or maybe because people may do stuff to hurt themselves while tripping.
And I've got the Live and Leeds record and I love it. Although sometime's it just seems like feedback for parts of the song...sometimes I can't tell whether Townshend is actually playing guitar, or just bashing it on something.

It's strange how talented that band was. I was just thinking to myself "Keith Moon was the main source of talent in that band." Then I had to consider how great Entwhistle was at bass, and Daltries singing. I think Townshend was a great songwriter, and his guitar was good...although sometimes it leaves something more to be desired.
Who do you guys think was the weakest member of that band? (talent wise obviously)

i just found out that their are no more shroom dealers in my neighborhood or at least that i know of. i used to know of three, but one went to rehab, another moved to utah (what the **** is in Utah), and another one quit using and selling drugs. so now the only person who i can do shrooms with is my cousin, who is an 18 year old wigger.

what do you think is more importent in a classic rock guitar solo, to be good or to be original (no cheating by saying both)
All that matters is that it sounds good.

ive also noticed this trend and it mostly is, well at least at my school, a lot of jocks that will wear the led zeppelin 'stairway' shirt, and know only a few of there songs and maybe some floyd too, but the irony in it, is that, they will still listen to trendy rap crap. for example, today in woods class, the teacher asked if any one had a cd they could play on the cd player, so as usual some loud mouth, dumb as rocks jock stood up and yelled, "play this cd, it rocks." so the teacher put it in and it started to play rock and roll by led zeppelin. and was i like alright finally some of these jocks have at least some taste in music. but then half in the mix cd it started playing some rap crap, 50 cent,i think the jock said it was, because as soon as it came on the guy who gave the teacher that cd said "turn that up, this is the best song on the cd."
*sorry if i offended any one in here by making it look like all jocks do that, i know not all of them are like that, just 95% of them are.
xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx
02-01-2005, 06:17 PM
To be good, it needs to sound like the guitarist is passionate about what they're playing; he/she needs to be into it, but not out of control.
Those types of people need to be shot. Wearing a band's shirt and not listening to much of their music.
Anyways, in a guitar solo, number one would be sounding good and number two would be fitting the song.

to comment on the solos, i say the most important part is that it fits the song completely, an example of solos that do not are slash's solos in Velvet Revolver, most of the solos on that cd, sound like they could go with a completely different song, im not saying that slash is not good at guitar, its just that his solos just didnt really go that much with the melody in their songs.

Another drummer that was very jazz influenced is John Densmore from the Doors.

Well, I do not have much information on these two tracks. Mainly because they are burnt. However, these two are very high up on my favorite song list.
Peter Rowan & The String Cheese Incident - No Woman No Cry
http://s23.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2WZL1QY98EYSV3EA4E3U9BFBMK
This cover surely blows the original out of the water. The singing and the playing are technically better, and the vibe is fantastic. Also, Peter Rowan is a Bluegrass vocalist/guitarist who played with various groups, but most importantly Old & In the Way. The song is live.
Tony Rice - Blackberry Blossom
http://s7.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2SHA5SYR5IM1P2Y30S6FMADEUE
Well, this is a very well known Bluegrass tune. Other than Tony Rice's guitar playing, I am 99% sure that Sam Bush is playing mandolin. The song is instrumentally amazing, and I believe shows much character in each soloist.
I really like the second one, I haven't listened to all of the first yet.

Nice songs Badmoon!
Anyone here into Roy Orbison, he's hugely popular overseas for some reason (or atleast in Ireland) and extremely popular here...his last CD 'Mystery Girl' produced by Jeff Lynne is awesome and has the huge hit "You Got It"
"Oh, Pretty Woman" is what he's best known for...great song catchy as hell like most of his stuff, my other favorite is "Working for the Man" awesome song.

I'm a huge Roy Orbison fan. He's one of my favourite singers, it's strange you mentioned him though...last night on the radio they played an entire Travelling Wilburies album and I was almost absolutely sure his voice suited his songs perfectly. No one could sing his songs like he could. My favourite song is probably Anything You Want (You Got It).
I remember one time a few years ago, a Roy Orbison concert was on TV, and me and my gf were having sex in her room (I was listening to the concert)...and my girlfriends five year old sister comes in and is like "whos that on the tv?" (she didn't notice what we were doing), so we had to stop and explain to her who Roy Orbison was while naked under the blankets...very frustrating, but it's nice to see someone showing an interest in The Big O (Orbison, not orgasm).

That movie made Steppenwolf so badass.
God, I forgot how much I love that movie...drugs..sex..hippies..awesome music = awesome movie.
If anyone can tell me the Bob Dylan song that's played during the movie I'll give them a cookie...it goes something like "Silver spoon...somethinsomething Moon." It's a good song though. They Byrds, The Band, Dylan, Steppenwolf, Moody Blues, Hendrix, and so many others. I sound like an infomercial gone wrong so I'll stop :upset:
It's Alright Ma (I'm only Bleeding). Great song.
I noticed I'm over half an hour too late on that reply :upset:

I taught one of my students Thunderstruck tonight. He's a Metallica noob, but he's not yet fast enough to play most of their songs. So I'm doing different finger excercises and scales to increase his speed. He's good enough to play most AC/DC songs, minus the solos.
Any other suggestions on cool AC/DC songs that a partial fan might enjoy learning?
edit- and a late congrats on 12000 Rock

i used to listen to rap. :upset:
i got so sick of that **** though and started getting into rock. :D
I soon realized that classic rock is way better than newer rock. :)
Once i started playing guitar i realizd that the best guitarists and guitar solos was found in this type of music. :p
Now after about 2 years of listening to classic rock i do see it starting to become more popular :naughty:
(all the AC/CD tee shirts and Led Zeppelin posters in the stores)
That is kinda good because id rather here some one blastin free bird out of a car stereo than ludacris or somethin :thumb:
its also a bad thing because im always one to break away from the crowd and thats why i first started playing guitar,to be different.
o well, whatever happens, happens. i just dont want people to get into it because its "cool" they gotta understand the greatness of classic rock :chug:
Woah way too many smilies.

Playing guitar to be different? You do realize that at some point in time almost every male between the ages of 13 and 17 has considered playing guitar.
And I already taught him Back in Black and Hells Bells, thanks for the reply thought!

The worst is the fact that people play guitar (or any other instrument but not as much) to be cool. It gets to the point where it's just annoying.

About half of the guys in my school play guitar. However, none of them bother to be good at it, so all they can play is screamo crap. I'm one of three (no exaggeration) guitarists out of the 100 or so that play that can play a decent solo.

I stopped reading after that.
I wanted to play guitar immediately after hearing "Little Wing" for the first time. I got inspired.
