sorry to disrupt the canadian discussion but i just got george harrisons brainwashed and am really digging it. anyone else like it? nad back to canadian musicians, i dont really like how rush are canadas ambassadors of music but its probably only because i dont like rush, and by rush, i mean geddy lees voice. but yeah, neil young rocks.

MalcolmYoungRock

How in the world could anyone refer to Neil Young as 'the guy with the harmonica'??
That's like saying Paul Mcartney is 'the guy with the bass.' Theres no way to tell who you are talking about.

But yea, Neil Young is probably my favourite Canadian artist.

edit- and quickly read the bio to see if it's good, then return it if it's bad. It's a win win situation, but you better have a lot of time on your hands.

Actually, I needed a biography for a report...

thickasabrick
01-28-2005, 11:56 PM
Pfft. no. Tom Cochrane plays a mean harmonica, I meant him. I just didn't want to speak god's name because the man you are all reffering to is indeed god.

I do like Tom Cochrane. Anyone here listen to David Wilcox? I don't think he's Canadian, so this is irrelevent to the conversation...but he can play a decent guitar in some of his songs. I like Do the Bearcat, and Hypnotizing Boogie.

Oh, good point. I would have to go with Elvis, as he is officially known as just the king, if I were refering to the Lizard King I would have said his name by his true name...

New age music has given rock and roll a bad name!?

Well, "New Age" is actually a genre, one that hols the likes of Michael Hedges. But I doubt you were talking about the genre. So no, there are plenty of good current bands/artists.

Ya I think I debated briefly whether I should just leave it at that or put him on seperately as well.

Look at his user title...he clames to be a PF fan, yet he doesn't have The Wall or Dark Side of the Moon.

Interesting.

i've got animals and shine, The Wall DVD and downloaded nearly all of their stuff off wall and DSOTM. But i thought i should be true to them and buy their stuff (as you should)
So yes, i am a fan. but i don't think it should be measured in how much **** you've got. Im a metallica fan but hate everything after black. so don't have much of their stuff...?

There's a difference between not having the maligned records in a band's catalogue and not having two of their essentials.

It's like someone not owning Highway 61 and Blood on the Tracks and saying they were a Bob Dylan fan.

to be fair though Cd's are expensive. I know I'm a fan of more of the bands than I have cd's of.

I only buy used CDs.

Anyone feel like trading songs on AIM?

because whether or not you buy cd's used has nothing to do with the fact that you can be a fan of a band without actually owning any of their cd's.

I do but I don't really have any on my computer at the moment.

what ever your favourite music is disconection, what would happen if you couldn't find it second hand, yet you had all their other stuff? Say beatles but no White Album, or no Sgt peppers?

Idiots are drawn to internet forums(period). I'd say that pop punk has it worse than rock and metal. As does the pit.

Who likes Kim Mitchell?

Let me re-phrase that. Who's heard of Kim Mitchell? I assure you guys that he rocks :). He's just straight up hard rock with killer guitar solos.

Post some mp3s if you can. I'm always open to something new.

I've heard his song Rock & Roll Duty and I enjoyed it but didn't go into him any further.
