If we called it the Classic Rock Community thread, that just means avid fans of classic rock can come here and talk about stuff. it's basically all we do now, except then we can talk about jam bands and other forms of music without "being off topic"

I think they are the greatest band ever behind of course The Beatles. I love the poetry and the psychedellic feeling they give off. With John smashing into his jazzy style of drum playing, Robby playing his SG as if he it were a spanish classical guitar (flaminko), Ray on his orgins seem to give off a Monk kinda style and then theres Jim with his amazing sexual energy that he brings to the stage and then screams his soul down into the mic. The Doors are Coltrane psychedellic mix which blends together simply amazingly.

Elvis is not a theif nor was he the first man to make White people like Black music. I believe the first Jazz album was created by a White band.
As far as Rock n Roll goes, Whites did not steal it from Black people. Rock music is actually pretty equal between both races.
Rock n Roll = White Melodies (Country) + Black Rhythm (Blues)
Elvis combined those two elements.
Also, if you trace music back far enough, you'd be amazed how much White Folk music influenced Blues.
/recap
I highly doubt the first jazz album was created by white men I think it was some black dixieland group in the 1910's.

I highly doubt the first jazz album was created by white men I think it was some black dixieland group in the 1910's.
Well, it was supposably by a Dixieland group in 1917 who were White. They were named the original Dixieland Jazz Band.

An instrument similar to the banjo was played in African tribes, and white slave owners saw it, liked it, stole it, played it, then they all started a bluegrass band.

Okay Both races played a role in the creation of both country and jazz (although I don't know much about the country side) Jazz originated from black slaves, it was based on creole rhythms but played on new adaptations of western instruments. The reason for new orleans being such a center for jazz (and blues) was because it was the largest colony of free blacks in north america. There are also many white Jazz artists (or jazz artists from "ofshoot" genres)although many came later because the popularity of jazz in the 20's and 30's did a great deal in apealing to blacks and whites (No elvis wasn't the first to do it).

Well, this is the common and most likely correct belief. Folk devolped in the Appalachian Mountains. Which is exactly where the Scottish and Irish settle many years ago. That is why American Roots and Scottish/Irish Roots are musically very similar.

Though I do not like to say other races stole music and such, Black music usually goes back to one place, White music. Whites provided most the instruments the Blacks used to create Blues, their early style, and their reasoning for the Blues (most importantly). Which would of course turned into Jazz later on.
If you put it that way, the White race is the older more unappreciated brother. While the Blacks are the less original little brother who everyone always trusts and believes.
It is all about how you look at it.

I think it should be agreed that if you are to look at it by race both races are of large influence. Blacks used creole rhythms to create the music but used western instruments, and did incorporate western musical ideas. By the same folk music was a western based music but the banjo for example was originally a black instrument.
Really the new mixture of races played a humongous part in the development of modern western music but other than that it's somewhat silly to make it about race.

He would've never heard of Zeppelin, Floyd, Cream, The Doors, Yes, or The Who without me. Luckily he's only picked the common CR bands. Basically he's a faggot.
Today he tells me that he bought a greatest hits cd of The Band from Best Buy. He's never heard a song by them. I made the mistake of mentioning The Last Waltz in front of him, and it was over. He would've never found out about them, ever, in his life, if I didn't tell him about that movie. And now he knows.
