Well, then I should give it to you. Because Laughing Water is a recreation of that album.
Or you could of course buy Jazz is Dead's Blue Light Rain. Which covers Blues for Allah. Or you could get Jazz is Dead's live Great Sky River. Which does a bunch of stuff.
But I'd still recommend Laughing Water :).

Actually Blue Light Rain caught my attention now. Which one do you think is better?
I've only heard samples of Blue Light Rain. But the reason I first bought Laughing Water was because I like Wake of the Flood more than Blues for Allah.
Pros - Laughing Water/Wake of the Flood
- Catchier and easily remembered songs
- Not one bad song.
- Two drummers
- Better cover :p
Cons - Laughing Water/Wake of the Flood
- No Billy Cobham
Pros - Blue Light Rain/Blues For Allah
- Three really catchy songs
- Original Instrumentals
- More experimental
Cons
- Original Instrumentals
- Less Catchy
-Less Emphasis on Melodies

awesome. try to write it in your words (not that I'm assuming you are going to copy it). i've noticed some of the Featured Artists are basically just copy and pasted from websites, which is useless because they might as well just provide a link. i'm looking forward to reading yours, and i hope you don't take the easy way out.
today I was wearing one of my Jim Morrison shirts, and a guy in my math class asked who it was, and since it actually said Jim Morrison below his picture, I decided to propose a riddle by saying "that's mr mojo risin". within like two seconds he was like "that's pretty clever". i was suprised he got it so fast.

Has anyone else noticed the rise of Who song popularity? At sporting events now I hear "We Don't Get Fooled Again" or something, and it seems like they are in many commercials now.
Well, I have been hearing that song a lot, but that's about it.

I have picked up on that. I honestly can't say why.
And speaking of The Who songs at sporting events, Paul O'Neill used to come up to the plate to "Baba O'Riley" /random
They play Baba O'Riley a lot at hockey games. Same with My Generation and Won't Get Fooled Again

I was thinking more bands that weren't originally classified as Classic Rock. Like Gov't Mule or Widespread Panic. There sound could easily be classified as Classic Rock, but they obviously don't make the required date. So, they are not counted.

Please, don't classify Jimi Hendrix as classic rock. If you go by the stations then yes Purple Haze, thats classic rock, so is Hey Joe, but its all bull****. Those are the only two songs I by Jimi on the airwaves. To classify Jimi Hendrix under classic rock just seems too, I don't know. To me, just because he played from 66-70, doesn't mean hes Classic Rock. Yes he is classic rock, but he isn't Classic Rock, the category. Jimi Hendrix is so beyond Classic Rock, its frustrating to see him in that category. Miles Davis played during the late 60's, is he classic rock? Listen to 1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be), is that classic rock? His finest work is definetley not classic rock, the stuff I personally think he would want to be remembered with. Jimi Hendrix is a blues artist. A bluesman from Venus haha. For gosh sakes he's more an RnB artist than Classic Rock. Thanks for listening, any replies are welcome.
Miles Davis isn't classic rock because he wasn't a rock artist, he was mainly a jazz artist. Jimi Hendrix is classic rock, end of story.

Jimi Hendrix is classic rock because he played a blues influenced form of music(called rock), in the time period we now call classic. Put the two together.
Yes he did play a wide variety of music, but, I would argue to say most of it is rock.

how can you say hendrix wasnt classic rock? because he played some blues? great. so did cream, derek & the dominos, jeff beck, zeppelin etc. theyre all classic rock. he was rock. he was back in the eral thats considered "classic". thus hendrix was "classic rock"

Yes, obviously Miles Davis was a jazz artist haha. But the point I was trying to make was that just because Jimi Hendrix played during the late 60's doesn't make him classic rock. He isn't. He's become this drugged out icon from the 60's with niffty t-shirts, and thats what makes him Classic Rock. Jimi Hendrix is everything, but to put him in the same musical category as the freaking Buzzcocks, come on. Insane.
Jimi Hendrix IS CLASSIC ROCK. He played blues-ROCK in an era now considered to be CLASSIC. And who the **** are the Buzzcocks?
Hendrix was mostly strongly blues influenced rock. Blues was a big part of rock music at the time. This guy obviously hasen't hear enough Hendrix. Machine Gun, Vodoo Child, Fire, Cross Town Traffic, All Along The Watchtower, and most others are more rock than anything.

OKay first of all, Ill agree, okay, I can see where Jimi Hendrix is classic rock because of the time period and all that. I tried to make the point that i saw that, cuz I do, but I don't agree with it. Zeppelin, okay yes they are classic rock, but Classic rock is such a vast category that you can fit any group into it. I think thats stupid. It describes the time period more than the music. Led Zeppelin musically is rock, hard rock, or what have you. But I think the term "Classic Rock" is stupid. Who's to decide when the classics end? Is Stevie Ray Vaughan classic rock? The local Classic Rock station plays him and hes a blues artist. It seems people like to put any band that isn't recent that had talent as classic rock. The Ramones? Are they "Classic Rock". Hey, theyre pretty classic. Hell, Nirvana, thats pretty classic. Its just a stupid term I think, it doesn't describe music at all, and is just an odd idea. If theres a good guitarist, hell, lets call it Classic Rock. Classic Rock is a term that the radio stations made up.

Classic rock is the type of music that the artist plays. A lot of classic rock was influenced by the blues, but it was still rock. And anyways, an artist or band can be a part of more than one genre. Example: The Doors; they are considered classic rock and psychadelic rock. Actually, I don't think most bands belong to just one genre.
The Buzzcocks were loosely Classic Rock.

Yes, pom routines are similar to cheerleading, but not the same. I'm a classic rock nut and I want to try and turn everyone at this tiny school on to classic rock :naughty: A lot of people actually come to the basketball games (I don't know why...our team sucks...). I've thought of some possible songs, but I'm not really sure about them.
This probably hasn't been brought up before because, well, when you think of poms girls and cheerleaders, you think of girls that like Ashlee Simpson, Dashboard Confessional, dance music, whatever...not classic rock. The times they are a'changin though. ;)

Well yesterday I was working out, and our cheerleading team was doing a routine to a remix of We're Not Gonna Take It by Twisted Sister. They're not really classic rock though, more like eighties glam rock/hair metal or something like that.
You can't really use a lot of Classic Rock songs for stuff like that, unless you wanna remix it (which usually butchers the song).
edit- you could try using the remix for Elvis's "A Little Less Conversation." It might work, I dunno if you like Elvis though.

Probably more than we will ever know, like garage bands and stuff
The Doors were there in that time period in that area, but I wouldn't say their sound is like most of the other Frisco bands, or like anything else at all, they were really different

Yea I dont know about The Doors. The Doors were about the L.A. strip and so were the Byrds and Love (I think).

Does anyone agree that The Queens Of The Stoneage are one of the best new classic rock influenced bands?
I was listening to them before and I realised how much they sound like zeppelin, the who, the doors etc.
They more influenced by bands like The Stooges and The MC5, who may be Classic Rock, but not the expected type.
S.F. Bands
Grateful Dead
Jefferson Airplane
Hot Tuna
Love
New Riders of the Purple Sage
The Byrds
Moby Grape
Big Brother
Quicksilver Messenger Service
County Joe & The Fish

Was Donovan SF or East-coast?
Is Hot Tuna more or less Bluegrass-influenced? I missed a chance to see them at Grey Fox (Bluegrass Festival) in NY State this summer

The only solo album from this former Jefferson Airplane and Moby Grape cult hero is something of a legend. Cut in four days all by himself, it bombed upon its release in 1969. Nevertheless, Spence's legend has led to devotion from such fans as Tom Waits, Robert Plant, Beck, and R.E.M.. Oar features quiet, stark folk; odd turns of phrase; old-timey shuffles; playful swing; and pretty melodies croaked out from Spence's hoarse voice. Generally, the mood is blissed out, with the occasional apocalyptic dread ("Cripple Creek," "Books of Moses") and dissociated narratives ("Margaret-Tiger Rug," "Lawrence of Euphoria") that came naturally to the poor soul who spent time in psychiatric institutions prior to his death at age 52. This Sundazed reissue includes new liner notes, plus 10 additional tracks, including five previously unissued recordings. --Jason Gross
